HEADS UP, in case you didn't know yet, we're working on a version 2 with super improved encoding (mostly for mkv version) and minor script fixes. The mkvs will use the ordered chapter system that is currently used for Onmyou Taisenki DVD. MKV Screens: 1 | 2
Movies 1 and 2 will be included in the v2 batch! V1 will not have an official final batch. Some might take interest in BakaBT for a temporary batch in the meantime.
If people can also help with seeding the previous batches, that'd be great too.
All the episodes are available on orz media shares (mkv), and RyRo|Shiron on IRC has the 2nd half in avi.
Anyway, I'm closing comments on the troll post and the members-only post concerning it since neither are relevant anymore (ala screening comments and not checking up on them anymore). That was fun while it lasted~ Members, you rock and this release is for you and not the complaining leechers. D8<

Fansubs are essentially free to viewers, but there are actually some upfront and operational costs involved that most people don’t even consider. Here, I will examine a representative case of money expenditure in fansubbing from the perspective of the subber.
Example: Legendz anime Fansub by Ryuu-Rogue
1. Upfront Cost: DVD video source
Cost: $250 for whole series (50 episodes) -- $5 per episode [1]
Operational Costs:

Electricity @ 0.1597/kWh (http://www.eia.doe.gov/cneaf/electricity/epm/table5_6_b.html, NJ residential rate)
2. Production

I used this project/series for this sample calculation because I am most familiar with it out of all of RyRo's projects. DVD sources for Ryuu-Rogue's other projects actually cost more Production cost may also be higher because multiple versions need to be encoded. In conclusion, before you go complaining to us (or any other group for that matter) about delays and things, keep in mind that:
1. You're getting it for free.
2. We're spending a good amount of our free time to do this.
3. We're spending a good amount of our own money to do this.
4. We do the shows we do because we enjoy them.

In all seriousness, I still want to get the rest of the series out as much as I did when we started the project. None of the project status is on me though. ^^;
The translator ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) onkei_kun suffered a tragic accident of a flash drive death late last year, and that flash drive happened to contain the Adventure translations. So yeah, that's delayed a lot of good stuff.
I might pass this on to the anony's later, but would it make a difference? Gawd, some people XDDDD

splash is accepting committed and experienced timers for other projects (as in I'll need to see your fansub resume first!) because I am very picky about the timing style in my projects and will not train people. >_>
7. Can you reseed xx torrent?
For the most part, we will not be able to fulfill seed requests personally, so don't count on it. If you ask in the IRC channel, there's still a chance that someone will generously be able to provide a seed... but don't count on it.
Our archives are better maintained on the xdcc bot (mostly avi) on IRC, RyRo|Shiron, and orz media shares (mostly mkv).

Playback issues/Technical
1. Why are the subtitles not showing up on the softsubs (mkv)?
Make sure you have VobSub installed and it's working. On Windows, it should show up in the bottom right tray when you open a softsub mkv.
2. What do you recommend for file playback?
CCCP and Media Player Classic (mpc). On anything that isn't Windows, mplayer.
If you have playback problems on anything outside of these recommendations, then learn already. +w+
Known issues: Ordered chapters will not work for systems outside Windows. The opening for Onmyou Taisenki DVD will need to be played separately.
3. What's the difference between the AVI/XviD and MKV/h264? What about MP4/h264?
The AVI/XviD releases are intended for people on extremely low-end computers who do not have the processing power for anything better. They are hardsubbed.
h264 releases have about 33% better compression than XviD, thus producing better quality videos. However, h264 playback requires more processing power than XviD.
Our MKV releases are softsubbed (except for most karaoke and certain typesets), meaning you can turn the subs on and off as you please, as well as adjust the display font and make other customizations.
Our MP4 releases are hardsubbed, but otherwise function similarly to mkv and are also compatible with certain systems such as the Playstation3.
