The Rose/Scorpius Fic Exchange. Sign-Ups Now Open
FAQ Rules

15 March 2009 @ 02:14 am
Hey guys! It's been a while since the last update here because of my hectic real-life schedule, so I thought now would be a good time to bring up a few Important Things:

IN RELATION TO THIS COMMUNITY:
  • Yes, there is another exchange coming up. There are a number of factors that still need to be considered before anything official can be set, but I'm thinking of aiming for starting sign-ups maybe during late May? We've never had a summer exchange before, and I think it'll especially benefit people who are usually affected by school or college during the year.

  • If you've written a fic for an exchange before and would like for reviews to be forwarded elsewhere, please send me the new link(s) to your story so that readers will be redirected there! Otherwise, I'd advise for everyone to check the "track comments" option at the top of the entry so that you'll be notified of any new comments on your work. I do my best to PM or email writers in the event that their fic is nominated for an award or otherwise honored, but I don't assume responsibility for regular comments.

  • From the very beginning, I've run things around here by myself and, as the community has grown with each round, I've come to realize that I really can't do this on my own and keep everything operating smoothly. Everyone who participates here deserves to have the best experience possible, which just wouldn't be possible if I kept trying to manage things solo.

Having a co-moderator or two would mean more exchanges, more fun, better organization, and the retainment of sanity for all. ;-)

So, if you're interested in the position (either permanently or even on an exchange to exchange basis), please PM me or shoot an email to rwhgficexchange [AT] yahoo [DOT] com for more details.

IN RELATION TO AFFILATES:
  • [info]swrw_ficafest has just opened sign-ups for the latest round HERE. Sign-ups will last from today, March 15 to March 31.

  • [info]ronpansy_fest is currently holding an icon contest to officially open the comm, and will open sign-ups for their very first round on May 1. More details on the contest and exchange calendar are HERE.

  • [info]dmhgficexchange hosted a highly successful round during the fall, for which the master list of fics and art can be found HERE.

  • [info]dgficexchange also hosted a great fall fest and their healthy-sized master list of fics and art can be found HERE.

  • [info]hpgwficexchange is currently still under re-construction, but will most likely also be seeking co-moderators in the coming months, with a new exchange pending the completion of the reorganization process.

Hope to see you all around this summer for the next exchange! Feel free to email or PM me if you have any other questions/comments/baked goods/etc. ;-D

Please excuse me for falling behind on posting the opinions poll on the latest exchange-- between being jet-lagged after flying back to the states from England and catching a nasty virus, I haven't had time. ;-)

Something to note before doing the poll/giving suggestions: yes, I am definitely aware of the fact that the fic-posting took a terribly long time-- but the fact that I took a fairly strict stance on having every fic properly beta-read and presentable should also be taken into consideration. I have no alternatives for the current proofreading process, but I will do my best to shorten the posting time during the next round.

I'm certainly proud to say, however, that I'm just about 100% sure that every single fic from this round had not even a punctuation mark out of place. Once again, awesome work, everyone!

As always, don't be afraid to vote or respectfully make a suggestion to help improve the comm! The poll results are viewable to everyone, but only I can see how each person voted.

Thank you all so very much for making this a fantastic exchange!!! ♥

Finally! Here are the awards for the Love in Full Bloom Exchange! There are also a couple of graphics for anyone who wants something to show that they participated and/or were nominated for an award.

RESULTS AND BANNERS )

Please remember to save these to your own computer and host them on your own image-hosting account (either via livejournal, Photobucket, TinyPic, etc.).

Congratulations to all of the winners and nominees, and also to everyone who took the time to vote; I don't think I've ever seen so many members actively participating in a single round before, and it's exciting to know that our numbers just keep growing!

Another thing that I wanted to address was the fact that some of you left some truly lovely comments about the stories you were voting for. I feel badly about them never being seen by anyone but myself, so are there any objections to me emailing individual award nominees with any special comments that have been included with votes for them/their story? I won't mention specific usernames if you don't want me to; I just thought that the authors/members nominated would appreciate the wonderful things that have been said about them and/or their work. ;-)

I just did a final tally of the votes, and several categories have not only ties, but three-way ties -- which means that, were all of the tied stories to be given the specific award, most of the nominees would win!

This, obviously, would be problematic. So! I apologize for the further delay (I expected to have Internet access this weekend, and did not, or I would have caught this little glitch sooner), but could anyone who has the time please, please help break the ties? The categories and the tied nominees will be posted below in the comments; the same voting process applies here.

If you've already voted once before for these categories, don't worry about it! Please feel free to vote again. I know it's a tough decision since we've had such fantastic fics for this round, but it just wouldn't be fair to make so many people share one award.

This little extension will last until midnight tomorrow night, and the results will be posted on Tuesday.

17 July 2008 @ 03:16 pm
There's just one more day left to VOTE!! Please note that any votes submitted after tomorrow will not be counted in the final tally.

That said, the results and award banners should be posted by Sunday night (or, if some hiccup in the works crops up, Monday evening-- at the latest).

It's almost done, guys! A day or so after the awards are announced, I'll be posting a poll regarding your experience with the exchange, providing an opportunity for you to give feedback on what you enjoyed, what part of the process could use some improvement, etc.

Thanks so much for all of your cooperation and hard work!

12 July 2008 @ 03:36 pm
Just several things to note:

  • There's a less than a week left before voting for awards closes!! Please don't forget to take a look at the nominees and vote; anyone and everyone is invited to participate in this part, with just a few basic rules to follow.

  • Now that all of the fics have been submitted for the Love in Full Bloom round, everyone is free to begin posting them elsewhere. However, if your story has been nominated, please note that it would be easier to refer readers to the community link for award voting purposes, as everything is centralized here.

After the exchange is officially over, I'll accept alternate links so that readers will automatically be forwarded to sites where you can check for new reviews more easily.

  • I still haven't forgotten about making special banners for those of you who helped out with the Odds 'n' Ends round! Those are coming as soon as I can make them, I promise.

08 July 2008 @ 07:20 pm
Nominations are closed, and official voting for awards will now commence!

The voting period will last from today, July 8, 2008 to next Friday, July 18, 2008.

As before, I will comment to this post with each category-- but this time, with the nominees and the links to the stories. To submit a vote for a fic, reply to the proper comment with both the title and author's username. Choose only one story per category.

Otherwise, all of the same principles from before still apply: all votes will be screened, do not vote for yourself or be disqualified, do not share the details of your votes with anyone, and feel free to invite others to join in! It isn't necessary for you to have participated in the exchange in order to enjoy the fics and help your favorites earn the honors that you feel they deserve.

It's that time!

Here's how the nominating process works: I will reply to this post with a comment for each category. To nominate a fic, you simply respond to the category comment with the story title and writer's name. All nominating responses will be screened.

Also, be sure to remember the following:

  1. You may not nominate or vote for yourself. Doing so will result in immediate and complete disqualification from the awards round.

  2. You may nominate more than one fic for a category, but please try to keep all of your nominations in the same comment.

  3. Please refrain from sharing the details of which fics you've nominated, as that (obviously) defeats the entire purpose of having screened comments and such. ;-)

  4. Anyone can participate, so be sure to encourage others to come on over, read the fics that have been written, and help their favorites make it to the award nomination shortlist!

The nominating period lasts from today, June 30, 2008 to next Monday, July 7, 2008.

If you missed the fic master list, it is HERE.

Fic posting is now officially complete! The full list of stories (complete with links and stories, along with who did what) can be found under the cut.

Please remember that you must be at least 17 years old to read the stories that are rated R/M and up.

FIC MASTER LIST )

So that everyone can have enough time to take in all of the fics, nominations for awards won’t begin for another few days.

In the meantime, be sure to thank the writer who fulfilled your request (if you haven’t already done so), and please spread the word about all of these wonderful stories that have been submitted for the exchange!!! ;-)

Title:To Marry or Not to Marry
Author: [info]cyyt
Beta: Kiley and Jamy
Rating: G
Word count: 1,836
Summary: Ron’s proposal just swept Hermione off her feet. Yet as the wedding draws nearer, Hermione can’t help but to rethink if she should have accepted his proposal.
Warnings: None
Notes: I’m sorry that the line you wanted was slightly changed. I hope that it’s okay. (: This was a fun prompt to work with and I hope you like it.

To Marry or Not to Marry )

------------------------

ORIGINAL REQUEST
Briefly
describe what you'd like to receive:
I'd like a fic describing the beginning of Hermione's and Ron's engagement and their difficulties telling people about it. I'd like the writer to describe how their relationship strengthens/worsens during their engagement. It's up to the writer to decide whether the fic ends with a break-up, extended engagement, or marriage. Or whatever else he/she can come up with! :)
Preferred Genre(s): Romance, Drama, Comedy
Preferred Rating(s): PG-13
Canon or AU?: Canon ONLY
A specific you want: I want Ron to say "So... are we breaking off the engagement?" The mood doesn't matter. I'd also love to see a Mrs Weasley vs Fleur scene.
Deal Breakers (what don't you want?): not too much obscene language, no smut. Also, be partial with the fluff! I've always imagined a stressful engagement between the two.

Title: The Colour Of Feelings
Author: Lire Casander/[info]lire_casander
Beta: Lovely B. Any mistakes left are my own.
Rating: PG
Word count: 5078
Disclaimer: This is a work of fanfiction set in the Harry Potter universe – all recognisable characters and settings are the property of J. K. Rowling and her associates. No copyright infringement is intended. No profit is made from this work. I do not own Goo Goo Dolls nor their songs either.
Summary: Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley travel all the way to Sydney to find her parents, but the search is not as easy as it seemed. During the process of looking for lost people, Hermione and Ron discover some facts that will change their lives, and their feelings, forever.
Warnings: First person. A little angst. A little fluff. A really tiny bit of humor.
Notes: Thank you very much to B, who has put so much effort in this story. I owe you tons and tons.

The Colour Of Feelings )

------------------------

ORIGINAL REQUEST
Briefly
describe what you'd like to receive:
I want something that explores their characterizations, all the flaws and the virtues, and how it affects their relationship. I want to see them get into a fight because of the flaws and make up because of what they love about each other, and I want to see them grow and mature to it. I want to see the contrasts and the similarities between their personalities. I want to see a real relationship that could happen in real life, not too much fluff or angst. The key word is "realistic", I want a story about real-life people.
Preferred Genre(s): like I said, the key word is "realistic."
Preferred Rating(s): whatever the writer is comfortable with.
Canon or AU?: as close to canon as possible, especially when it comes to characterization.
A specific you want: I want to read at least one of Ron's sarcastic remarks, Hermione quotes a book on a subject one would never expect her to read about (you pick what), and sunflowers incorporated in any way. Focus on the details.
Deal Breakers (what don't you want?): They can't be married or engaged. I don't want too much characters, make it as focused on the two of them as you can. No perfect, enchanting, romantic moments, they're too unreal. Sappiness in any form. Rape, or other too extensive traumas. Too much fluff, angst, or comedy (SOME is okay, but not too much, I want it to be a mixture of everything).

Beta: [info]queenb23more
Rating: G
Word count: 1,362
Summary: Ron and Hermione share their first dance.
Warnings: DH spoilers
Notes: Thanks for the beta Shannon! And thanks to JoAnn for the extension. My life has been madness this week! To my recipient: I’m sorry it’s not PG, I know I’m lame for doing that but I had a fic and I re-read it and it turned out way too angsty and then I lost most of it due to my stupid computer so I went the other way. This is very light on the angst, but I hope you like it all the same :)

Hi guys!

Just wanted to let you know that, as of yesterday, all of the fics (including the pinch-hitters') have been submitted, and I'm in the process of finishing up the proofreading process!! Hooray!

So if you haven't received a gift yet, just sit tight and it will be posted soon, granted that everyone's properly dotted their i's and crossed their t's. Sorry for the slight delay; I was hoping to have things wrapped up sooner, but little hiccups in the plan tend crop up along the way. ;-)

In the meantime, feel free to begin thinking about the following award categories for the nominating round that's just around the corner:

  • THE GOLD STAR AWARD: Best Overall Fic

  • THE GOLD QUILL AWARD: Best Request Interpretation

  • THE RED ROSES AWARD: Most Romantic Fic

  • THE RICTUSEMPRA! AWARD: Most Humorous Fic

  • THE SOAP OPERA AWARD: Most Dramatic Fic

  • THE J.K. ROWLING AWARD: Best Canon Characterization

  • THE "ONE AND ONLY" AWARD: Most Original

  • THE CRITIC AWARD: Best Reviewer

I'm hoping to have the rest of the stories posted by tomorrow night, along with the master list.

Once again, sorry for the slight tardiness in putting up the rest of the fics, and thanks for your patience!
