Recording folks?

  • Jul. 8th, 2009 at 11:21 AM
Hello citizens.
My band is trying to get ourselves recorded this summer. On a budget, which can be tough.
We're already familiar with the larger studios in town and contacting them to see what sorts of rates we can negotiate. We're strictly looking for recording as we've got a guy lined up to master it nicely and a hook up for pressing and packaging the disc.
So if you know of someone who might be a Pro Tools wizard but not necessarily doing it for a living and has a good ear, I'd appreciate the recommendation. We're a "rock" band which is too vague to describe our sound but we'd really like to find someone whose comfy with a wide range of genres and yes we're aware of the rarity of such folk. But it never hurts to ask around.

We've been able to work with people previously for @ $25.00/hr so that's 'round about what we're looking for.

Thanks in advance!

Yoga Studio

  • Jul. 6th, 2009 at 9:23 AM
Does anyone have any rec's for a good Yoga studio around RVA/its outlying counties?

So far I am considering Integral Yoga Center or 4025 Yoga & Wellness but I know there has to be more out there.  I really want a studio that focuses on all aspects of yoga, especially the meditative and spiritual sides.  I don't want a fitness program.

I know there has to be some Yoga enthusiasts here in the community so I would love any rec's or reviews on studios you guys can offer!

Got a '97 Mustang that has a fried engine. Everything else works fine, but I don't have the money for a new engine. Best bet at getting a little cash out of this thing?

foreclosed homes

  • Jul. 5th, 2009 at 9:34 PM
Ok so I'm looking at getting my first home possibly. I figured take one of the few advantages of this economy and look into foreclosed homes. I did a quick online search but all results required me to pay to join a site for the results. Anyone have any advice on sites or places to visit? I'm looking for the richmond/vcu area from like willow lawn to shockoe bottom if that matters

So I am hosting a bridesmaid luncheon in a hotel room and I don't know if my favorite restaurants cater. Do you have any suggestions?

I'm a tad poor and it's not very many people maybe 12 or 15.

Does anybody have a recommendation for an electrician. I have two, maybe three, pretty small jobs, but I prefer not messing with volts and such.

Thanks.

Pet boarding/sitting?

  • Jun. 24th, 2009 at 7:02 AM
Can anyone recommend a good pet boarding service or exceptional pet sitter for extended stays (2-3 weeks) in the Richmond area that can handle a loveable shih tzu?

Any stories of places to avoid are also appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello rva. I will soon be moving from Williamsburg to Richmond, and I have a few things I need to get rid of. Pictures included in craigslist ads.

Kitchen table & 4 chairs - $150 for the set, barely used, like new condition
Whirlpool washer and dryer - $375 for the pair, washer hoses and dryer vent included, excellent condition [note: dryer electric, not gas]

Unrelatedly:

iPod video, 5th gen - $150 each, one black and one white available, comes preloaded with songs (1700+ on black, 2800+ on white), light scratches on back, front in excellent condition

iPods can be shipped, washer & dryer and table & chairs would have to be picked up in Williamsburg. Please let me know! Respond here, to craigslist ad, or rvamove2009 at gmail dot com. Thanks!

Moving Company

  • Jun. 20th, 2009 at 8:12 AM
Can anyone recommend a reliable, fairly inexpensive moving company? I just need someone to load / unload (and provide) a truck. I'll be doing all the packing. I'm moving from Williamsburg to RVA 7/31 - 8/1. Any companies to avoid would also be appreciated.
Thanks to all in advance.

dvds for sale!

  • Jun. 19th, 2009 at 7:50 PM
I am looking to sell some of my DVD collection, as it has gotten way out of hand. All of these DVD's are in great condition and most have only been watched a handful of times. No scratches or skips on any of them - they all work perfectly. I am just looking to consolidate my collection. There are TV box sets, individual movies, and anime. YES I SAID ANIME. You can see the list at craigslist.

I am just going to go to Plan 9 if this is a total bust, so let's just take the middle man out of the equation, shall we? You get something like +2 indie cred for finding things at a used store, but finding something on craigslist has gotta be AT LEAST +5.

Clearwire

  • Jun. 15th, 2009 at 9:37 PM
I currently have 13 months of a two year contract with clearwire for internet service. It's $29.99 a month, with tax and everything it's $35.23 every month.

My building just installed internet service that's included in the rent. I would like to cancel clearwire but that is a $170 termination fee.

They told me that I could transfer the equipment (I'll throw in a wireless router free of charge) and the account to anyone who is interested and in their service area.

If you did that you wouldn't have to pay any start up or connection fees.

Please let me know if you are interested. Save us both some money.
