NOTE: this community allows adult and explicit content to be posted as well as content for all audiences, but we have turned off the automatic livejournal restrictions because those hide the more detailed warnings that authors often provide. Please be sure to lj-cut and clearly label your adult and explicit content.

This community hosts creative fannish work in the David Cook fandom (the awesome guy who won American Idol season 7, in case you have somehow gotten here by accident and spent May 2008 living under a rock).

If you're looking for fanfic, vids, fanart, podfic, and essays, you're in the right place. \o/

There are already several communities where you can post these things -- so what we're looking to do here is create a community with a high signal to noise ratio, focused on DC. That's what our rules are intended to do, so if you find them too restrictive, we hope you'll be able to find a bunch of other great places to post instead. :)

0) It has to feature David Cook!

1) Please spellcheck your fanfic/essays and format cleanly with blank lines between paragraphs and no wacky styling. We don't moderate posting because that is a drag, but if it's a hot mess, we'll take it down and ask you to clean it up before reposting.

2) Please no works in progress, and please only make a single post for multi-chaptered stories, linking to all the chapters in your own lj or website. (You're more than welcome to post your WIPs elsewhere and then cross-post here once you're finished -- we just don't want the common phenomenon of vast swaths of the comm getting taken up by a single story in 20 parts, making it hard to find other stories in between.)

3) No icon posts, sorry! We love 'em, but they are very high-volume, and there are lots of other communities where they are welcome. Here we'd like to focus more on larger pieces of fanart. It is fine to link a post that has both larger fanart and icons, though.

4) The lj-cut is your friend and ours! Here's how you use it:

A small thumbnail or a preview paragraph outside the cut is just fine, but please do lj-cut all your content.

5) Adult material is welcome on the community. Please tag and label your works as adult and explicit if that's what they are. Here's a rough guideline: Adult is for violence, sexual relationships, other adult themes. Explicit gets added on top of adult, and includes graphic descriptions of violence and sex.

So if it's snuggling and kisses or two Idols arm-wrestling over who gets a song, we can all handle it. (No, gay relationships are not an automatic adult tag.) If there's jumping between the sheets or you're writing the AU where Idol is all about sacrificing the loser to the gods each week, it's adult. And if the cocks come out, and you are not writing the heartwarming story of David and Kristy Lee's idyllic future life on the farm, you want to stick an explicit tag on it.

Other than that, we don't require any particular header information or warnings, although they are often appreciated by your readers. Please don't complain to an author if she doesn't warn you about something you don't like: if you choose to click through the lj-cut, you takes your chances.

All AI7 characters can be tagged with last name, with the exception of chikezie, and andrew and kristy lee who cleverly arranged to share DC's last name, who are listed by first name. We will add pairings as dc/[name] as people post things with those pairings (so we don't have a taglist full of tags with no actual stories attached).
