Explain yourselves, troopers!
This is the home of the runningcurrahee challenge, a Band of Brothers fic challenge dreamed up in a crazy-ass thread that took over aldbournewhores in January, 2005. This will be a monthly challenge, posted in hopes of churning up more great BoB fic.

Basic training
This community is for the posting of fiction in answer to the monthly challenges only. Please do not post announcements or solicitations to this community. Challenges will be announced here and at aldbournewhores and camp_toccoa until the population of those groups tells us such posting annoys them. Please post only challenge stories and comments on challenge stories to this community. General discussion of BoB and the associated fandom should stay in the other communities, for the sake of tidyness :-) Please keep in mind that most of the BoB LJ fandom belongs to one or more of these communities, and many are mutual friends. To keep from spamming our fandom to death, we'd like to encourage authors to be conservative in cross-posting their stories. Announcements with links take up less space on all of our flists.

As in our associated communities, we ask that you treat each other and the objects of our affection with respect. Flamers, trolls, and meanies (who have rarely been seen in this fandom) will be banned.

Disclaimer
The fiction housed here is inspired by the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers. Though the characters in that series are based on real people, this fiction in no way pretends to portray anything but "movieverse" characters, based on the miniseries and the actors who played in it. No disrespect to the real men of Easy Company, whom we revere, is intended. We own nothing and are making no profit.

Challenge Rules
Stories can be of any length, from drabble to epic. All ratings, pairings, and genres accepted.

Challenges will be posted on the first Sunday of every month; stories may be posted in response to the challenge at any time after the challenge is posted. If, in the future, the quantity of stories warrants it, we will impose time limits on stories, but for the moment we're leaving things open in hopes of encouraging everyone to write.

Given the open nature of these challenges, we're asking for some pretty detailed info in the story headers. This will help with archiving and also help everyone find the stories they're interested in reading (and avoiding ones they might not be).
