Dalwyn arranged a tourney for us at fightpractice last evening. The fighting was wonderful, the fighters put their all into it, and the audience appreciated their efforts. Nick was the overall winner, but we were all winners. Chantal and Allistair

| A brief explanation of the Pas d'Armes, by Lord Guthfrith |
[May. 8th, 2007|08:11 pm] |
The Tournement on Saturday, May 5th at Seashire's 25th Anniversary was a Pas d'Armes, since the format is a little different than most SCA tournements, Lord Guthfrith sent along a bit of an explanation.
The main part of the tournament was a Pas d'Armes in which the six fighters contesting for the title of Seashire Champion were challenged by any fighters from outside Seashire who wanted to do so. Eight chalengers fought on the day. Defenders could be chalenged to a combat either with swords and shields, war swords 4.5 ft long, or poleaxes (poleaxes were replaced by shorter axes half-way through the tournament). Each bout was fought first to THREE COUNTED BLOWS, with no 'SCA wounding' rules in effect (bear this in mind when you watch the bouts!). After the main Pas d'Armes, the two defenders with the highest scores fought each other, best of three bouts each of three counted blows. The victor of this series was the new Seashire Champion. On the day, Lord William and Lady Cornelia were the two finalists, with William being victorious in the final bouts.
The rounds are all seperate posts, to watch them in order, scroll down and work your way up...enjoy! |
