rt_moonlighting is a Remus/Tonks centric fiction recommendation community, based exclusively at LiveJournal. The purpose of this community is to highlight quality fanfiction written to depict the relationship between Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks. In case you missed it, this is a het fanfiction community. This community is moderated by jadeddiva, maple_clef, claireydid, heartsncraftslb and sparkly_stuff. sparkly_stuff is to blame for the layout, with art by the lovely laverinth. Our sister community is rt_challenge.

Welcome to rt_moonlighting!

Inspired by hp_spotlighting and crack_broom, the purpose of this community is to highlight quality fanfiction that explores the relationship between Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks. We’re hoping to focus on work that really stands out – in particular, writing by less well-known authors of the pairing who might currently be overlooked.


What are we looking for?

Fluff makes everyone warm and fuzzy and definitely has a place in fandom… but that place is probably not here (intellifluff, however, is always welcome)! What we’re really after is fanfiction that is notable for some reason – e.g. a particularly original story, strong characterisation, an inventive or elegant narrative style; anything, basically, that has a bit of extra shine.


More specifically?

Clearly, Remus/Tonks is a het pairing, and that’s going to be the genre of the overwhelming majority of the fic recced here. But basically, anything R/T-centric is eligible, and hopefully we'll be able to present a good cross-section of what's out there. Ratings will be given for all recs as they are made. PLEASE NOTE: by following a link to a fic marked NC-17, you are confirming you are old enough to read it.


Can I suggest...

Please do. At the moment, the mods are responsible for finding fic to write home about, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want your input – we do! If you’ve seen (or even written) something that you believe is deserving of a recommendation, please let any of us know (contact details below) and we’ll be happy to consider it.


Why should I trust your judgement in particular, hmm?

We hope you’ll judge for yourselves, actually. The sole aim here is to find and promote good fic. We’re hoping our approach will be an efficient way of finding some great Remus/Tonks writing, but of course you, the reader, will ultimately vote on how successful we’ve been by deciding whether or not to continue following the community.

All five mods are supporters of the Remus/Tonks pairing who have personally read, beta'd, and written R/T fics of all shapes and sizes. One of our goals is to show this pairing in the best possible light, and we feel that as R/T fans we can accomplish this better than other, more generalized fic rec sites that do not 'specialize' in this pairing.

To make the process more transparent, each recommendation will be accompanied by the mod’s reasoning – in suitable detail - for their choice, and of course we encourage feedback and discussion about the recs made.

jadeddiva is a graduate student who spends her free hours reading every bit of fanfiction available that involves Remus, Tonks, or Remus/Tonks. She likes puppies, knitting, and gender history. claireydid is a university student who writes too much and procrastinates far more than that (which is a fair amount, in case you didn't guess). Anything Remus/Tonks is a good thing - particularly when it's got a healthy mix of both angst and romance. Can be contacted via Y!M, or email.

sparkly_stuff is single and enjoys long walks on the--oops, wrong profile. Erm, anyway, she is currently a post-college slacker bum who enjoys being poor and unemployed because she thinks it makes her more Remus-like. She's been shipping and writing R/T since before it was canon, and likes it fluffy with a side of angst and smut (hold the cheese!). She can be contacted via AIM or Y!M.

heartsncraftslb, better known as LB in both fandom and RL, is bigger than a breadbox, though not by much, mind you. She is a mother, wife, teacher, student, writer, and not without reason, she's stressed. LB mainly writes R/T, though she'll read pretty much anything (including the back of the cereal box, and warning labels on air freshener). However, she will enjoy reading whatever's handy if it has a clever plot, a fair-sized helping of humour, and if it doesn't tell canon to p!ss off and die, that's a bonus, too. If you're really freaking bored, you're welcome to AIM her, though you may find it more interesting to take up knitting, as LB is kind of lame, really.

maple_clef is mostly harmless. She generally prefers genfic to shipfic, but finds the R/T dynamic really interesting and is most readily impressed by writers who explore the relationship intelligently within the context of a well-crafted story.
