This community is meant to be a place where RPCVs can meet, greet and swap advice on everything from COS onward. Topics include COS, culture shock, post-PC plans, grad school, jobs, etc.
The general rule of thumb is... If it happens post-PC, it's fair game.
If not, it belongs somewhere else.
A couple quick notes...
* Membership here is strictly limited to RPCVs only and membership is moderated. There are several other PC communities that non-RPCVs are encouraged to join (see below for suggestions). And don't worry - if you're applying to PC and have a question that would be best answered by a returned volunteer, many of us are members of the other communities as well.
* RPCV is an acronym for Returned Peace Corps Volunteer. If you were a PCV and left country for a reason other than Completion of Service (COS), please feel free to join us! Many people leave country for many different reasons, some within their control and many not. This community is inclusive of all RPCVs, regardless of the circumstances surrounding their departure, or the length of time spent in-country.
* Please use tags in your entries! If you look at the community sidebar, you'll see that the tag box is labeled as "Discussion Topics." Using appropriate tags makes it easy for people to scan that list and look for topics of interest to them, and can also help us avoid relentless repeat posts on the same topic/question. If you're unsure of what to "tag" your entry, look through the list and see if any existing tags are appropriate, and if not... create a new one!
* If you have an online photo album from your service, consider sharing the link here and help our attempt at an RPCV photo album database.
* Upon joining the community, please introduce yourself by completing the following survey:

For all you non-RPCV folk reading this, we'd like to suggest two other great Peace Corps LJ communities out there:
A place for anything and everything Peace Corps. Use this community to ease your fears of applying, get pre-departure advice, share your experiences as PCVs, etc.
A place for girl talk and gossip on anything female/gender related. Guys are both welcome and encouraged to join because we all know that women's issues don't just affect women. I do feel I should warn you, however, to be prepared for potentially-squeamish topics like menstruation and how to cope while abroad. But who knows? You may learn something new and interesting while you're there!
