While You Were Sleeping

  • Mar. 11th, 2008 at 8:18 PM
I'm totally breaking my own rules here, but I did write a While You Were Sleeping AU. For various reasons, I hate it so much that I don't want to bother editing it or sending it to beta, but since I wrote it for this challenge, I thought I'd just post a link.

The While You Were Sleeping AU that I hate with a fiery passion

Spencer/Brendon, PG-13. 9,076 words
Basically, Brendon pretends to be Ryan's fiance and falls in love with Spencer. The end.

Sweet Home New Jersey? - PG

  • Mar. 10th, 2008 at 7:38 AM
Title: Sweet Home New Jersey?
Author: [info]boi4eliza
Rating: PG I guess. There’s kissing and cussing but that’s about it.
Pairing: Gerard Way/Jon Walker, Gerard Way/Frank Iero, last-minute implied Spencer Smith/Mikey Way
Description: For [info]romanticbandom fic challenge. VERY LOOSELY based on the story of Sweet Home Alabama. Gerard and Jon get engaged, but before Gerard can marry Jon, he needs to get a divorce from his high school sweetheart, Frank. But going home changes things for everyone.
Author’s Note: This is the first fic I’ve written in well over 2 years and before that, I’d only written 3 or 4 very brief fics. Also, I haven’t seen Sweet Home Alabama in almost that long either, so events may be out of order.

Thanks go to [info]thewhiteviolin for her wonderful beta work.

Love is the New Feel Awful

Love is the new Feel Awful
PG-13
Gerard/Frank with portions of Pete/Ryan, Bill/Travis, Brendon/Mikey, Mike/Tyson, Brendon/Gabe, and Bob/Spencer, just about in that measure.
Gerard Way, a Cartoon Network peon in possession of the world’s worst taste in men, may have finally found the perfect boyfriend. Or a serial killer. [Based on the movie Head Over Heels]
Written for the [info]romanticbandom.

Thanks to [info]straydogstrut for the Russian translation, [info]languisity for the handholding (and oh, was there a lot of it.), and [info]jezzabe, [info]inawonderland, and [info]sinuous_curve for working this over. <333

Guys...

So I don't want to be bitchy or anything, but it's been a week since V-Day and a lot of y'all haven't posted. Those of you who told me that you're going to be late/you're dropping out are fine. Those of you who didn't talk to me yet, please just let me know here whether you plan on posting or not.

(No pressure! I just want to know whether you're still gonna write it, because if not, it's going back into circulation for later. If you need more time, that's totally not a problem.)
Title: It’s You I Want
Author: NKDay
Fandom: Fall Out Boy
Pairings: Pete/Patrick, many others.
Rating: R
Word Count: 7,405
Summary: Pete and Patrick aren’t from the same social circuit, but they mange to make it work. Eventually.
Notes: For [info]romanticbandom. Pretty In Pink AU. Some quotes taken directly from the movie. Beta-ed by: [info]lazenby and [info]puckinnichild. Any remaining mistakes are mine.
Dedicated to: [info]kittygrenade because she made me realize Patrick Stump=Molly Ringwald and [info]lazenby because she read this like 70 billion times and said it was \o/ every time.
Disclaimer: I don’t own anyone or anything written here. I especially don’t own the movie Pretty In Pink.

Title: I Just Want Your Extra Time (and Your... Kiss)
Author: [info]fiddleyoumust
Word Count: 13,000
Rating: R (For language and talk of sex)
Fandom: Bandom, (MCR, Panic, Others)
Pairings: Frank/Gerard, Jon/Spencer
Disclaimer: This story is full of lies, falsehoods, fabrications and other distortions of the truth. In other words, it's fiction.
Author's Notes: This is for [info]romanticbandom. My movie was Never Been Kissed. I'm not really sure this resembles that movie much at all anymore. Oops. Let's just say it's loosely inspired by, m'kay? Many thanks and much ass kissing to [info]stephanometra for major plotting help and making this not suck in general. You are a doll. Extra hugs and brownies to [info]lissa_bear for a last minute beta job. I ♥ you both. Any remaining mistakes belong to moi.

Click for Fic
And for one night, you're living it for all of us. ~9400 words

R, Mikey/Frank, smattering of Spencer/Jon and Ryan/Brendon

Notes: Based on Maid in Manhattan, for [info]romanticbandom. Title and cut text come from the movie. Thanks to [info]redandglenda for the quick and dirty beta. Any further mistakes are mine. Thanks to [info]ohpeterpan for cheerleading, as usual

How did the two of you meet?

Frank: Funny story…he was working as a maid at the Decaydance Hotel and he pretended to be a guest.

Don't think about anything but tonight. Tonight, the maid is a lie. And this, this is who you really are.

FIC: Going Back to What (Brendon/Jon)

  • Feb. 10th, 2008 at 1:53 AM
Going Back to What
Brendon/Jon, Jon/Spencer, Brendon/Pete, a few more sprinkled in
9717 words; PG-13
Brendon doesn't want to be thirteen anymore. (for [info]romanticbandom; 13 Going On 30.)
If you got here by googling your own name, what the hell are you doing reading fic? I mean, I guess I can stop you, but really. You don't want to read this. I promise. So hit that little green arrow, Pete Wentz. Also, so very beyond real that it's not funny.

Thanks to [info]lexicon for putting up with my stressing and random IM snippets and for reading the finished piece and telling me whether or not I actually did the plot justice. Thanks so much to [info]shutyourface for the amazing beta job. It's mostly because of her that this is readable. Any mistakes you see are mine.

I stole the title from 504plan's Kissing Old Friends, which I sort of listened to on repeat while writing this thing.

{Brendon’s day had gone from bad to worse to worst day ever in rapid succession.}

Reminder and a question

  • Feb. 7th, 2008 at 7:20 PM
One week left! Also, we officially have our second entry, from [info]sweetrecovery. Go check it out!

So I was thinking about the comm and how I don't want it to die - would any of you be interested in a Romantic Drama challenge or a Weddingfic Challenge?

fic: Dress You Up in My Love | 27 Dresses

  • Feb. 7th, 2008 at 6:32 PM
Title: Dress You Up in My Love
Author: [info]sweetrecovery
Pairings: Jon/Spencer, Brendon/Ryan, Brendon/Spencer
Rating: R (for language and eventual sexytimes)
Word Count: 23,200
Summary: An AU based on the movie 27 Dresses, written for [info]romanticbandom. Spencer has been a groomsman at twenty-seven weddings, and one weekend when he's pulling double duty, attending two weddings at once, he meets Jon, a reporter, who Spencer thinks is a jackass. Spencer's best friend, Ryan, comes to visit, quickly falling in love and getting engaged to Spencer's boss, Brendon, who Spencer happens to be in love with. Naturally, Spencer gets stuck planning their wedding and has to deal with Jon, who's writing a column about Brendon and Ryan's engagement. Thankfully he has a sassy friend named Greta to help him deal with all of this.
Notes: I apologize for the epic length; I don't know how that happened. It's posted in three parts that all link to each other. So many thanks to [info]flickerofyou and [info]belle_bing for their tireless beta work. This thing would have been a disaster without them. [info]belle_bing might have worked as hard editing as I did writing, so I think Belinda deserves to have this dedicated to her. The ridiculous title comes from the song of the same name by Madonna.

( Sometimes it seems like Spencer's life is just one big wedding. )

Clarifications and Guidelines

  • Dec. 10th, 2007 at 9:21 PM
Okay, so some questions have been brought to my attention, like guidelines and some other questions regarding the comm. So here are just some things I wanted to say:

1. Yes, het is allowed!

2. The due date for this is Feb 14. If you realize that you won't be able to make the deadline, please just let me know so that I'm aware that you didn't drop out. If you do drop out, if you can find a replacement writer, that would be awesome.

3. This is a bandom recasting comm, just to be clear. I expect most of you know this, but it works like this: you take bandom characters and stick 'em in the plot of the film.

4. I'm not too picky about length, but at least 1000 words. Not that that will be hard, I suspect.

5. All stories must be beta-ed. The beta list will be up in a few weeks.

6. Sign-ups close the 21st.

7. All stories must be cross-posted to this community, or at least a link to your journal/place where the story is.

8. I'm not picky about formatting, but when you post a link, please just provide the title, film it is based on, rating, pairing, brief summary, and any warnings you feel are necessary. It can look however you want.

ex.

Title: Carelessly Growing Up
Film: Big
Pairing: Gerard/Ryan
Rating: PG
Summary: Gerard grows up suddenly. Chaos ensues.

OR

Carelessly Growing Up, based on Big. Gerard/Ryan, PG.

Gerard looks down at himself.

"Whoa," he says. "I'm...grown up."

Or whatever. As long as it has the required things in it, I don't really care.

Okay, that's all for now. If you have any further questions, just ask!

Betas and Sign-Ups

  • Dec. 6th, 2007 at 7:08 PM
First of all, I made a proper header for the community. If anyone would like to submit an icon for us, that'd be great.

Secondly, this is pretty far in advance, but if you enter this challenge, please have it beta-ed! If anyone would like to volunteer to beta or knows any good betas/beta communities, please let me know and I'll put up a beta post in the future.

Thirdly, I think I'm going to close sign-ups by...the twenty-first at the earliest, the first of January at the absolute latest. So get your friends to sign up! Surplus ideas might have to be reserved for a second round of this challenge.

Next year there could be a Romantic Drama challenge! But I'm getting myself. Please just help out with betas for now, and I'll get a list of betas together.
