I have a few questions about my roguelike editor...

Do you want a radioative feature, like the feature in Fallout? I would need to create a body object for the player, so that parts of the body could randomly become more functional or useless by mutations.

I'm currently working with a 20 * 65 map size; would people want larger map sizes?

What about a worldmap feature, like in ADOM, or would a Dungeon Siege no world map system be better? What about magic teleporters or space age beamers?

1) Mutations - that'd be nice :).

2) Map size - strictly depends on a gameplay.

3) Worldmap - once again, strongly depends. Could you tell a bit more about how your game is played, and about gamesystem you are using?

make your worldmap random.

as to mutations/radioactive.. if its used in the game sure, but no point having some skillset or something it if does not actually do anything in game. eg: there is no point having 'lockpick' if there is no locks to pick, etc. unless i'm gonna use something lots of times, i dont think there is need of it...

describe what you would use mutations for? what would they do? how would they affect the game.. how would you advance them in level? etc.

I need to be clear here. The game system is going to be a play engine for games that are made in an editor. It is not random in the sense of ADOM. Though you can have Fallout style random encounters on the world map. And I may add features like a random monster type which appears as a random monster when the game is loaded and played. More suggestions are welcomed.

The mutations system would work like this:

A game creator may decide to give a tile a certain radio value between 1 and 1000. There would be a certain point at which the player's Body() would be affected by the radiation. The body could store a certain amount of radio before any effect would happen. The radio would enter a random part of the body and then the biological abilities based on that part would be randomly altered based on an algorithm. The chance of a limb or a metabolic system failing would be set to very unlikely, and the chance of a very slight increase in effectiveness would be unlikely. There would also be minute chances of trait mutations accuring which would alter the players set of natural abilities. There will be a list of 16 natural humanoid abilities; each race you create can have three of them.
