The pubcrawl is go!
First of all, many thanks for all your feedback.

The pubcrawl will indeed be next Thursday (14th). Apologies to those of you who can't make it, but the vast majority of you seemed happy with the date. Those of you without lectures or work the following day also have the option of moving on to Octaine afterwards.

Since opinion was divided on doing the schoolgirl thing again, this year's theme will be Heaven & Hell. Please try and make an effort to look heavenly or hellish. In case anyone had already planned their costume, there is certainly room in hell for a few naughty schoolgirls :-)

This year I also have a cunning plan to avoid losing people between pubs. Please bring along any rope, handcuffs or tape that you might have lying around. I will explain more later.

There will be seven pubs this year (half way between four and ten, which got equal votes). Since beer in not often served in 2/7pint measures, drinking alcohol at each pub will not be compulsory. You are welcome to join me in a cup of tea or soft drink of your choice from time to time. Of course you are equally at liberty to get completely plastered by the half way stage and we will do our best to leave you propped up where you won't be in the way of anyone.

The plan of attack is as follows:
18:00-18:55 The Regal (Wetherspoons)
19:00-19:25 The Hogshead
19:30-19:55 The Cricketers
20:00-20:25 The King Street Run
20:30-20:55 The Maypole
21:00-21:55 The Pickerel
22:00-23:00 The Bath

We will aim to stick to the times as best as possible, in order that latecomers will be able to join in part way through. The Regal is chosen as an easy starting place to find and also because it serves food. A map with the locations of all the pubs can be found here.

I do hope you will all come along. Please try and bring any freshers at your college who might want to join RockSoc, and remember your coat/hat/scarf since it is October.

Elm Tree's better than the Cricketers, if we're going to wander that far out!

I'll turn up from the beginning to ensure that there's plenty of experienced drinkers (I assume Baz will be there early too) there to greet the freshers that might turn up. lol. And keep control. Oh yesh.

Someone remind me not to buy beer in the KSR. *shudder*

There's also the Free Press, but they're both quite small. I chose The Cricketers since it is a bit bigger than the other two. I've not been disappointed by the beer when I've been there.

it doesn't matter that much really :)

I suppose the cricketers does have the outside bit if we get 30 people along.

If it is 4 of us, then, err ...

Argh, what's your chem supervisor like? No way of rearranging it?
(What a horrible time for supervision... Evening isn't for work.)

Coats and scarves (especially scarves) are NOT METAL. (nor are they particularly heavenly or hellish, for that matter) :)

Doesn't that depend on the coat? (And possibly on the scarf, although I can't admit to ever having seen anyone wearing a leather scarf...)

We will most likely join you towards the end. Elderly relatives to see same evening.

I like the fact you've allowed me the opportunity to fit in a few extra pubs along the way ;-)
