Metalcamp is a week-long festival in Tolmin, Slovenia- see www.metalcamp.com . I am setting off for the hitch there with a friend on Sunday, and was wondering if anyone else is going, and if so, if they feel like meeting up. Gig this Friday! Nekkrosis!
This Friday (19th) at The Portland Arms in Cambridge plays host to the mighty NEKKROSIS. They are touring on the back of their recently released debut album which has received excellent reviews in Metal Hammer, Rock Sound and Terrorizer. They are also filming for their latest music video on the night so turn up if you want to be involved! It is £5 entry and support comes from locals Diminished Fifth and Dead Letter District. I’ve seen Nekkrosis a few times and trust me they are really, really good and put on an excellent show. Not just because of the bassist’s amazing facial expressions :) Hope to see some of you there! | | Sunday, June 14th, 2009 | 9:01 am [i_am_marky]

Fury UK http://www.myspace.com/furyukSince the release of their debut album "Face of Adversity" in 2007, Fury UK have toured endlessly and have played at the likes of Bloodstock, Bulldog Bash and the Rock of Ages fest, as well as sharing stages with Opeth, Nightwish and Dimmu Borgir. Power Metal all the way, and in the way it should be done, so I'm sure they will satisfy our thirst for great music. They are coming from lands afar (well, Reading, Surrey, Bath and Cardiff) for this, so come out and make them feel welcome as you'll be hard-pushed to find a better example of the genre! Perish in the Flames http://www.myspace.com/perishintheflamesCambridgeshire Death Metal brutality featuring an ex-committee member. These guys have played great gigs in the past, and this will be no exception as they're playing at the May Brawl, just for you lovely, beautiful people! If you haven't seen them yet (and shame on you) now is your chance! Before this from 12pm come to Jesus green for the annual ROCKSOC PICNIC. For Sale: Hurricane Festival Tickets
What: 2 Tickets to Hurricane Festival 2009 + camping Location: Scheesel, Germany Dates: 19-21 June 2009 Website: hurricane.deWe bought tickets to this because it has sentimental value for us. We're now unable to go because the UK government has both our passports and intends to keep them for an unforeseeable amount of time. (visa application, long story) I'm moderately desperate to flog these tickets! Face value of them is 115 EUR each. With fees and exchange rate, the total we paid came to 256.89 GBP. Make me an offer.Short date, really can't go, just trying to get back some of what we paid. Most of you probably don't know me, but Oli does and can likely vouch for my not-likely-to-be-scamming-you-ness. crossposted allllll over | | Monday, June 1st, 2009 | 4:21 pm [i_am_marky]

Urgent Plea! On behalf of everyone at 209 Radio in Cambridge. We've suddenly been hit with a debt that, unless we clear it fast, is big enough to shut us down. If this were to happen, there would no longer be a local community radio station that everyone in Cambridge can enjoy and get involved in. If there is any way you can help, either by donating money or paying for advertising of your business/organisation/band/event/anythin g you can think of, please, please go to: http://www.209radio.co.uk/and get in touch with us. Thank-you for any support you feel able to give. Alix x Current Mood: anxious | | Monday, May 25th, 2009 | 10:16 am [maetria]

beer on thursday (52+)
If anyone is thirsty this evening, there is the possibility of beer in the MOTM with musical accompaniment. As for the long term future of thursdays, 66.6 percent of people were in favour of more beer (see the poll from last week) but I am passing on the organisation to the new committee so please listen for further announcements. Do comment here (or on the poll entry) if you have any additional thoughts or suggestions. Mini review of last week (the The Fort St George): Light redecoration. Food average, ale good but a little expensive. Great turnout. | 8:39 am [i_am_marky]
