Ghosts

Allan had forgotten the stench of the castle dungeon. He had forgotten that the sound of fellow prisoners groaning and weeping was so relentless. The place echoed with pain and misery.

Allan closed his eyes. Gisborne had promised to return and deal with him, but he didn’t care.

He thought of Tom. Tom, whose last hours had been spent in this place. Tom, who must have hoped he would be rescued. Tom, who had been killed before they could get to him...

Tom, the little brother he would never see again.

Somehow, being there brought him closer. Like a ghost.
