What is RiverKids?
RiverKids provides community-based care for children and families at risk of child trafficking in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Through food, school and social work support, we keep families together, protect abused children and stop trafficking before lives are destroyed.
RiverKids is a low-cost and local project where 100% of funds go to the project. Fundraising costs are covered by volunteers, and all financial records are published online.
Please visit The RiverKids Project for more information, including pictures of the children we will be helping.
Why do I run auctions for RiverKids?
I've been following Dale's journey for the past 6 years starting when she first adopted her children in Cambodia through the discovery of her children's birth family to the inception of RiverKids. It started with just a few children, grew to 54 rather quickly, and is currently at 56 registered children. They operate on a shoestring budget and rely heavily on donations to stay afloat. I personally cannot donate more than $25 at a time, but I always have extra bath products and BPAL. Through the help of many people, I've gathered a lot of items specifically for these auctions.
Who has helped me out?
alicia_stardust,
dragon_mintz,
littlewolf13,
syrenemyst,
crescentwench,
mollymoon,
rainyseason,
aithne,
violalee,
originalwacky,
quiet000001,
fayemeadows,
halle, and
aconite. If I forgot anyone, I'm so very sorry. This has been months in planning and I'm not always the best in keeping records.
Items are from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, Villainess, 4 Fat Cat Wax Works, and LUSH. I am not affiliated with any of these companies and have received no donations from these companies.
What else should you know?
There are two options for donating to RiverKids. First, you can click the cut-tag and place bids on the items I have up for auction. Second, you can visit the Sixty Good People Campaign and donate $25 (or more) to help RiverKids meet their $18,000 goal for the next 12 months.
When you place a bid, it will be in private. Please direct all bids to riverkidsauctions@gmail.com. High bids will be updated once a day.
The auctions will run from July 27th to August 3rd 11:59 pm EST. All bids are final as of 12 am on August 4th.
After the auction is complete, you can either pay me or pay RiverKids directly and send me a copy of the paypal receipt. I will pay RiverKids and post a copy of my paypal receipt in this community under friendslock. If you want to see a copy of that receipt, you need to friend the community.
Items will be shipped within a week of winning unless there are extraneous circumstances. If that is the case, I will contact each winner directly. There is NO extra charge for shipping. Your bid is your bid. I cover all shipping charges and I will ship all items Priority mail. International winners will be worked out on a case by case basis.
I *think* I've covered everything. If you have *any* questions, please contact me at riverkidsauctions@gmail.com.
BIDDING CLOSED AS OF 11:59 PM EST. THANK YOU EVERYONE!
