Hey everyone - you may have heard me alluding to the new timeline system I'm trying to implement. Well guess what? I'M ALL CAUGHT UP!

... Except for the current stuff with Edensphere appearing and the Crystals. And any really weird Visions. I had posted back here with stuff I'd been trying to tag. Any additions are still welcome, particularly 'existential' stuff - musings on Rivelata as a world, Zikhadhara, the Queen, etc. Feel free to leave comments here or on the old entry if you think an entry deserves included~

This still matters because I'm writing the Condensed Timeline now and as soon as I'm done with that, the new Story/Setting Page can go up. After that I have a few historical entries left to write for the moderators and then the Overhaul is officially done. Hopefully tonight the mods will make some final decisions on where main plot's heading and we'll be back in business, ready to post more inquiries and ideas to the OOC Plotting Post!

We have a tag for open logs now! ^_^ Anyone who wants to get alerts when new "open" logs get posted, start [here]. (Be sure to be logged into whichever account you want to get the notifications!)

You should see a page that looks like this:

ALSO! For the next couple of hours, I'll be updating the Hiatus/Drop Page. As I'm going through it, I'll be modifying the character tags so the Dropped characters get pushed to the bottom. Basically, you'll probably see the tags moving around all today. (Hopefully not tomorrow as well =_=;; ) You won't see the complete Hiatus/Drop Page until I'm done with it, though.

Awhile back, Atma asked me about going back to the Library and interacting with the Novice and Scribe. As some of you may remember, they had their own LJ account. It became too much of a hassle to try to access those accounts again and so here's the solution: clustered NPC accounts.

Basically, the icons, tags, and comment prose will tell you what you need to know. Some people have already experienced this in the current Jungle Log where a giant venus flytrap was posting under the templeguardian account. [See icons]

* rivelatageneral will now include all three Guard/Military NPCs: General De Viers, Colonel Casimiro, and Major Valery. [See icons]
* rivelatamods will now include various city-based NPCs: The Novice and Scribe (The Library), The Drifter, and The Madam (Husband's Alley) [See icons]

This leads nicely into the first point I would like to see discussed:

Hey guys, just another notice that THINGS IN RIVELATA ARE NO LONGER FREE. All food, housing, etc. now requires money. See the [Queen's announcement] on it for full details.

Because of this, there's a lot of characters looking for jobs or places to stay, so I am implementing a few new tags, ad - housing, ad - job, as well as ad - business if your character is advertising a shop they have just opened up, or something similar. This will apply to both those seeking and offering. So, from now on if your character is posting an advertisement in the main community, rivelata, please tag it accordingly.

Additionally, if you have your character posting up flyers around or something, these may also be posted in the journals with the appropriate tag. Because this is not actually in the journal, characters cannot respond or interact in these posts, so it'd be best if you disabled commenting.

Thus far, quite a few people have helped contribute to the geographic layout of Rivelata by providing names of places they visit (ex: "Moonflower Teas") or referencing places they have been (ex: an unnamed bakery). This is extremely important so we can help color in the map of Rivelata! But what places already exist and how would you know they were there unless you'd read every single log anyone's ever made?

Enter the "place" tag! From now on, when you tag characters in your logs, we would like you to also include the "place" tag in the following format:
place - placename

This tag need only be used for public locations, so logs that take place in personal residences don't count. If the location has a name, please use it. Also, please do not include articles such as "a", "an", and "the" if they appear in shop names. Other than that, here are examples of the more generic places that should be tagged from now on:

beach*
boardwalk*
clinic~
docks*
husband's alley
jungle
library~
market district
park
sanitarium~
warehouse district

* "Pier" and "Harbor" are subsumed under the "docks" title, while the "boardwalk" actually runs all along the "beach" (the dark brown line on the map).

~ These are examples of a unique location in which no name is needed, just the vague description; most other specific locations should be given names.

Since I know a lot of you want to help me out, one thing pretty much everyone can take care of is the tags. Everyone has the ability to create and add or remove them, and I'm hoping it's something I can keep that way so people can pretty much do their own thing without my intervention. However, I'd just like to make a few clarifications on how tags are done here, so everything goes as smoothly as possible.

Firstly, when tagging you should use the character's full name. If the character happens to be Japanese or some other nationality that has an order different from "first name surname", please use the order of their place of origin (for example, "hitachiin kaoru").

Secondly, when making a post in rivelata, the only character that needs to be tagged is the original poster. No one else. There should always just be one tag. It's probably best for the poster to just add on the tag while posting

In rivelatalogs, every single character involved must be tagged in the thread. Probably best to tag all the characters involved right off the bat or add them as they come in.

I think I pretty much covered anything. This is also just a general reminder that if you just tag your posts correctly in the first place, nobody has to do any work to begin with! XD
