The Gender Public Advocacy Coalition is pleased to announce the release of its 2008 GENIUS Survey in partnership with Ernst & Young. GenderPAC works to ensure that classrooms, communities and workplaces are safe for everyone to learn, grow and succeed.
The Gender Equality National Index for Universities & Schools (GENIUS), GenderPAC’s most recent effort to end discrimination and promote awareness, encourages colleges and universities to recognize the benefits of a GenderSAFE campus - supportive equitable and protective for all students. Choosing to participate in GENUIS sends a strong public statement that bullying or discriminating based on the race, sex or gender of a student, faculty, or staff member is not tolerated at your institution
Fill out the survey at: www.gpac.org/GENIUS2008survey, and make sure that we have data for as many schools as possible. Your voice will help us continue to work towards a safe and welcoming environment for every student | | Sunday, June 15th, 2008 | 12:09 pm [xeroxheart]

CLPP annual reproductive justice conference The Civil Liberties & Public Policy Program at Hampshire College invites you to our free annual reproductive justice conference at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts from Friday, March 30-Sunday, April 1, 2007. More information can be found on our website: http://clpp.hampshire.edu Do you want to learn more about reproductive freedom and social justice? Or are you a longtime activist looking for inspiration and rejuvenation? Whether you are new to the movement or a veteran organizer, join us at the 21st annual national conference “From Abortion Rights to Social Justice: Building the Movement for Reproductive Freedom.? On March 30-April 1, 2007, campus and community activists will be gathering at Hampshire College to unite for reproductive justice. We are expecting a large turnout—last year there were over 1000 participants from the US and abroad. We offer more than 30 workshops and trainings. Conference speakers address reproductive freedom as it relates to a broad range of social justice initiatives including economic justice, health care reform, racial equality, the war on terrorism, freedom from violence, youth liberation, civil liberties, and LGBTQ rights. Over the weekend, you will deepen your understanding of issues you already know about, make new connections, and unite with others who are passionate about working for social justice. Free housing (in Hampshire dorms) and food are provided for the conference weekend. Free childcare and sign language interpretation is also available. For more information, check out our website at http://clpp.hampshire.edu or contact us at (413) 559-6976 or clpp@hampshire.edu | | Monday, March 12th, 2007 | 9:16 pm [poxyd]

NH Gay Marriage Hearing Marriage Equality HearingThe public hearing for HB 791, the bill that would create marriage equality in NH, will take place Wednesday, March 14, 1 PM in Representative's Hall. For the first time in NH history we have an opportunity to be equal; now is the time to stand up and be counted. It is urgent that you attend this public hearing. Representatives are willing to support this legislation, but they need to hear from you!! If you have never attended a legislative hearing before now is the time. You don't have to testify, but it is vital you attend and register your support. Equality is within our reach, but we must do the reaching!!I hope to see you all there :) (X-Posted like mad, LOL) Current Mood: hopeful | | Sunday, February 4th, 2007 | 8:57 pm [sourgrapeszine]

SOURGRAPES: Calling all feminists! Hi there, My name is Sam. I help run a zine called SOURGRAPES ZINE. We're a local zine based in Lexington KY. We focus on teaching kids about D.I.Y. ethics, being posi, and why its important to support local art and music. I wanted to write not only to introduce our zine to the livejournal zine world! But also to explain our predicament. You see, after a lot of pulling out hair and craziness we've decided to hire on a full-time zine team. We used to be submission based but it was pretty hard on our (then) small team. So now we're looking for like minded zinesters and punks who support self publication, D.I.Y. ethics, posi beliefs, and who are interested in having some fun creating a great zine and keeping the underground press alive! We're looking for:
- Columnists - Interviewers - Record reviewer ** - Zine reviewers ** - D.I.Y. guide writers ** - Survival guide writers ** - Bike Repair guide writers ** - Cover artists (for upcoming covers) - Photographers - Cartoonists (full-time strip) - Proof readers ** - Printers - + more! If you think you could help us out or would like to become apart of our team, we'd love to have you! Write us at SOURGRAPESZINE@GMAIL.COM or through our myspace: http://myspace.com/sourgrapeszineOnce again we are looking for FULL TIME writers/artists (which means we will be interested in your submissions for each issue) were poor and cant pay you but we can offer free ad space, zine copies, zine reviews, and whatever Sam can knit you! Thanks! SAM SG ZINE TEAM
