Degrees and a compass rose
Due to conversations with an anonymous commenter to the previous post in this community, I've figured out some details of rikchik directions and degrees.

rikchik compass circle Rikchiks split the circle into 420 (11407) divisions. 420 is divisible by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and of course 7. When specifying angles of lines, 0 is to the east or at the bottom of a page (rikchik maps put west on top) and the other degrees follow counterclockwise.

The four cardinal directions are east ("sun"), north ("dead"), west ("eye"), and south ("god"). In addition, there are two intercardinal directions between each pair of cardinal directions - for instance, between east and north are northern east and eastern north.

The ps/pdf version of the compass rose, as well as a larger png, can be found at the rikchik postscript files page. The intercardinal directions have been added to the rikchik dictionary as compounds.

Do rikchiks have compasses?

I think so. From a quick research check, it appears that any tectonically active planet should have a north-south dipole magnetic field, and I had previously decided that their planet is tectonically active. They know about magnetism (I need to add "Metal-Love" as a compound to the dictionary) so it's likely they'd pick up on it. I'm going to arbitrarily decide that the invention of compasses don't make them turn all their maps around.

North is dead.
How do rikchiks dispose of the carcasses of their dead? Do they eat them? (They are, after all, just carcasses...)
