I went to the qualifying rounds and I nearly shrieked with delight seeing Richards name scribbled to be on a practice court within the 5 minutes that I arrived. I watched him rally for a bit just warming up and drooled over his backhand, it's gorgeous. Anyway so we came back when he was about to leave the court and I thought I'd take my chance at getting an autograph. Being totally unprepared he came out and I just joined the small mob and stuck out my arm as far as I could with the paper in my hand. (while everyone else had tennis balls and autograph books). I totally died when he was signing and he saw my sheet of paper, he looked up at me for a couple seconds and then signed my paper. I said "Merci" and ran off happily after being so close and not to mention getting eye contact with him.

So here is the scribble:

and a couple photos (sorry if they're huge :P) :

I believe Gasquet is doing quite well...I think he's in the 3rd round...doing much better then Federer, who lost his <strike>first</strike> second round match.
Following a series of bad results on the clay, Richard Gasquet has said that he may skip the French Open because he is "not fit to play tennis".

The 21-year-old, who is ninth in the world rankings, has not progressed past the last 16 in any event this year and is 35th in the current ATP singles race.

Gasquet, the highest-placed Frenchman in the world rankings, is now contemplating missing his own country's grand-slam event, saying: "I am completely burnt out. I haven't fully recovered from the efforts I made last year. And I am paying for it at the moment."

He added: "I am not fit to play tennis - running, moving, everything is becoming difficult. I am going to cut myself off for the week. Forgetting about my racquet can't do me any harm.

"For Roland Garros, we will see. Don't expect a big tournament from me - if I take part in it."

The French Open begins a week on Sunday and Gasquet fears it could be embarrassing for him if he does take part in the tournament, given his current form.

"I am going to put down my racquet for a week. Then I'll come back to training and we will see then," he added. "It is nearly two years since I have had a break. I miss that.

"Imagine what I would do at Roland Garros, it would not be nice for anyone."

Gasquet, who is 22 next month, won a career-high 49 matches in 2007, claiming a fifth career ATP title and reaching two other finals that year.

He also reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon, the first time he had gone that far in a grand-slam event.

Article from The Press Association

I hope he finds form and fitness soon *crosses everything*

I'd say "it looked like," if the broadcasters at Indian Wells had actually shown the match on TV... Unless the West Coast got to see some of it...?

March 19, 2008 - Fourth Round - 8 Gasquet vs. 9 Blake
Richard lost 4-6 2-6 in about 1 hr 6 min
Richard's serve was broken four times, but he could only break Blake's once.
This time Blake had no double faults, but Richard only had one.
In interviews, Blake kept referring to the match as a "Davis Cup preview" for April... Here's hoping that if these two play against each other again there (which is highly likely), the results won't be the same. ~_^

Doubles

March 14, 2008 - First Round - Gasquet/Lindstedt vs. WC Grosjean/Tsonga
Richard and Robert won 4-6 6-2 10-7 in 1 hr 14 min

March 17, 2008 - Second Round - Gasquet/Lindstedt vs. Butorac/A. Murray
Richard and Robert won 6-4 6-4 in 1 hr 4 min

March 18, 2008 - Quarterfinals - Gasquet/Lindstedt vs. Bjorkman/Ullyett
Richard and Robert won 6-3 4-6 13-11 in 1 hr 29 min

Gasquet and Lindstedt's next doubles match (semifinal round) is scheduled for today, March 20, at 3:00pm PST on Stadium 2 against Nestor and Zimonjic (seeded 3). This'll be their first match against a seeded pair in this tournament.

Personally, I'm hoping for a Gasquet/Lindstedt vs. Mirnyi/J. Murray final, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see... ^__^

Richard is back in action this week at the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships. This is Richard's first appearance in Dubai.
It's a draw difficult, but inevitable considering the density of good players classified on this tournament.(Dubai has attracted eight of the world's top ten players). Richard is seeded seventh and will face Dmitry Tursunov in the first round. Then he will face Andreev at the second round, Djokovic or Youznhy in quarters'final, Nadal in semi final and finally Roger Federer in final.
Eh Ben... This tournament will be filled in emotion by seeing these amazing matches.

Richard is also teaming up with the French wizard, Fabrice Santoro, in the doubles event (They won a double title together in Metz two years ago). In the first round, they will face Ferrer and Verdasco.

Full doubles draw
