No new series this time, but last month Moe Yukimaru started her new manga Ai kara hajimaru! And next month Mayu Shinjo is starting her first ribon series, Heart no Diamond =)

The latest Ribon Special issue will be out on the 18th of April, with manga from artists such as Aki Mochida and Kozue Takeuchi as well as side-stories for currently running series. These include Sakura-hime Kaden, Fly High and Puchi Parade to name a few.

The issue will feature two of Aki Mochida's stories (as seen in image), including a Kimi wa Sakamichi no Tochuu de side-story.

One new artist, Subaru Itou, will debut in this issue with a yomikiri (oneshot) entitled Atashi no Anata.

As previously mentioned, the May covergirl is none other than Momo! Although you can barely see her with all of that bubble-writing scattered around... it looks more like a preview for the next issue, not the cover for the current.

This issue is formally on sale from April 3, although I've already received word from my supplier that they've shipped my copy!

Viz Media has obtained the English license to the artbook for Arina Tanemura's Shinshi Doumei Cross. The book is set for a November 2009 release.

Didn't see this posted yet so I thought I'd share. (It's been awhile *blushes*)

A new two part story by Margaret mangaka Rinko Ueda will be appearing in the next issue of Ribon out April 3rd.

The series, Chou Tokkyuu Hiyokko is about a young girl named Hiyo who has a crush on an older boy.

Interesting to be seeing Ueda-sensei in Ribon. I hope the story is well recieved I'd love to see her publish in Ribon again.

The April issue of Ribon is out on Tuesday, with Yoko Maki's current manga, Shouri no Akuma, on the cover!

Next month's covergirl will be Momo.

And lol....I can't believe Shouri no Akuma is a gender-bender. :X

Anyone remember that this had been going on? :P Well it looks like the winners had (probably) been released last month, but a few of the winners are going to be debuting in Ribon.


Sugimoto Arisa (I'm guessing how her name can be read, but she's 20 years old and from the Hyogo Perfecture) will debut with "Ujicchi's Wish" in Ribon issue 4 (released 3/3). She won bronze with her story.
Kamio-sensei (author of Hana Yori Dango) and Ikuemi Ryou-sensei's (josei writer) comments are written for her.


And second, a gag author won a special prize. I'm not sure about her last name's pronunciation, but her first name is Tomeko. She's from the Miyagi Prefecture and is 24 years old. Her gag is called "Monthly Manken's Everything." It isn't clear when she'll debut, and whether or not she'll debut in Ribon or Ribon Zoukan.
Tanemura-sensei and Makimura Satoru-sensei (josei writer) have comments posted for her.
Tanemura-sensei comments on how she doesn't understand why there's not much in terms of background, and says that's it's too bad, but she feels that the jokes are like poison once you're laughing.

The second chapter of Yayapuri is only four pages in length (chapters are usually 4-6 pages) and shows Yaya fitting in at school and Papa, still worried about his daughter, hiding out on the campus to watch over her. As usual, Nanami seems more like a parent than both Mama and Papa combined!

Hina Mashiro mentions in somewhere in volume one that the -puri suffix on Yaya's name means many things: princess, pretty, prima-donna....

The Ribon WakuWaku Community now has its very own scanlation group! wakuwaku scans was formed to mainly promote Yayapuri, a 4-koma gag manga running in Ribon. This community will act as a base for the group because I am too lazy to make it a home of its own.

There are two versions of the first chapter: the first is nine pages in length and was Hina Mashiro's original entry into a manga competition held by Ribon a few years ago; the second is the chapter that began running regularly in the magazine (with six pages). We have the latter for you today, but the REAL first chapter will be brought to you in time also.

Each Yayapuri chapter is only a few pages long, and you can read any chapter without needing to know what happened in the others~

Oh, and please excuse the crappy quality - I suck at editing. Tips and suggestions are appreciated!

Oops! Forgot to post. Tuesday was my co-mod's birthday, so we released lots of goodies for her. Including, Momo chapter 5, Nagatachou Strawberry chapter 9 & volume 2 extra, and Love Berrish! chapter 7.
