Columbia Shoes/Eyebrows
Hey! Looooong-time lurker, first time poster. I feel like such a cheesehead writing that.

Anyways, I'm doing my makeup ala Columbia for a Rocky-themed party. BUT, I can NEVER
cover my eyebrows. I know this question has been posted a zillion times, most
recently here , But- It's not the sticking-down part I can't do.

After my eyebrows are stuck, I can't seem to cover them.
I've used facepaint before though and that seems to cover them- would it be a good idea
to stick them down, paint them with white facepaint, then just put makeup over it?
I'm confused.

ALSO, It's not like my eyebrows have to be hidden from far away. They have to be hidden from like,
people sitting right next to me. AND camera flash.

Okay, I did the paint/powder thing, then parts of my eyebrow, after everything dried part of my eyebrows started showing up again >.<

Thusly, I whipped out some WATERCOLOR PAINT IN A TUBE. In lighhhht yellow. I painted that on, waited for it to dry, and rolled around in glitter. I KNOW I drew my eyebrows really high, it's just cuz I had a gigantic zit in the middle of where my eyebrows SHOULD have been drawn and it was hard to draw over XD XD

(I don't suggest watercolor paint, some of it got in my eye and well...it was scary.)

Anyways, problem solved. It looks good in person, and even under flash.

Also, around December I was in Fashion Bug & saw these shoes, I ended up buying them
and even though they're not very SA Columbia taps, they're still friggin awesome.

amount of blue & silver mixed together & make me happy inside. XD

	You may need to thin your eyebrows out a little if they are dark - and I don't mean change the shape, I mean thin the forest, y'know? I usually just use a heavy-dose of color-matching concealer or grease paint over my eyebrows then press it well with powder or eye shadow. I also use colored glitter - it helps disguise any color variations. (Reply to this) (Thread)

For stage, the facepaint idea would work, but for a birthday party with close-up pictures, I'd suggest forgoing the eyebrow modifications, since screen accuracy isn't absolutely necessary. That's just my take on it, though if you're really sold on the idea of SA makeup, I'd try using the facepaint a few times, take some pictures with it, and then decide from there what you want to do.

after a ton of trial and error, i finally figured out a combination of concealers that work for me.

so first i flatten my eyebrows with spirit gum and eyebrow wax, which i wont go into detail since you said you were good on the flattening. so once i've got my eyebrows good and flat and sealed here's what i do:

first i do a layer of white face (like with my floorshow white face) but only on my eyebrows. then i powder it. then i repeat so i have two layers of white face and powder.

then i do a layer of a regular concealer- the liquidy kind you that you paint on that has a brush in the lightest color. i paint a real thick layer of it. then i'll let it dry for a few mintues and then powder it.

next i'll cover my whole face with a heavy cream foundation including over my eyebrows. i use the lightest color and will usually just mix in a little white face so i'm a little pasty. then i don't powder on my eyebrows- what i usually do is then draw on my columbia eyebrows and then put a thick layer of a loose eyeshadow which sets all the concealor and covers any hint of eyebrow that's left.

i think the results are pretty good. i actually was a janet for a long time on my cast before i ever did columbia and when i showed up as columbia for the first time a few people thought i'd shaved off my eyebrows! lol.

	Where can I get spirit gum from? Last time I practiced my makeup my eye brows showed more then I wanted them too. I just put Virgin White on my eye brows, then them wax them down and then the gold on top. I want to try your process though, it looks really nice. (Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)

i use spirit gum, then eyebrow wax, then seal them with something called a flexible latex/wax sealer. (all before i put any makeup on)

i get all that from a local costume store that sells theatrical makeup. prob any costume show would have spirit gum, but the other stuff you'd prob need to call around to costume shops and make sure they sell theater quality makeup not just halloween type makeup. don't forget to get spirit gum remover as well. :) if you cant find it locally its pretty easy to find at a online costume store.

	Yea I'll definitely just have to look online. I'm in the NY cast, but live in Jersey and there are like NO costume shops by me. I could look in NY, but since I work there I go right home after work, it's just easier to look online for me. Thanks! (Reply to this) (Parent)
