Howdy!

Just joined this community, and I thought I'd throw out a few photos of my goods on here... that's what it's for, right? ;-)

These photos are from the home I just moved out of. Haven't really snapped any pics of the new place, but as soon as I do, I will post them!

I suppose you can say collecting is my life. If it's not house stuff, it's clothing! My house (I am proud to say) is immaculately decorated with vintage wares-- including my kids' room. In fact, the beds, dressers and the appliances (have no choice in that matter) are the only new things in the house! Our bedroom is the only un-decorated room... but in Nov. we are going to decorate it in all of this great Danish-modern furniture we ame across. Excited about that! We are also going to redo the kids' room, as well. Right now the theme in there is vintage toys. My mom, who is also a pack rat/collector, just gave me her entire 1940s western collection, which includes knickknacks, furniture, toys and more.

Again, I will post more photos later... Enjoy!

Another view of the living room!

And another!

I totally went overboard with buying lamps (TV lamps included!)... which is great, because our new apartment doesn't have many overhead light fixtures!

Bookcase.

Poodles I recently purchased (I collect those!)

My hamper, decorated with lucite heels, a poodle lipstick holder, vintage beaded gloves and an Enid Collins box purse

Record player, which, surprisingly, still works (being that we use it so much)

Photo of counter in *new* kitchen

A '50s lamp, the $2 radio, and my figurines.

More stuff!

i love it all. especially the tables. i have a bunch of the tables with the pointy legs like that too. :) I have end tables and a coffee table like that but they are a darker wood. then I have a taller one and a a few round ones and a little dresser with those pointy legs.
i'm jealous of your lamp shades. I can never find any good ones like that.

I have a lot more tables that aren't in the house (yet)... I collect all the blonde wood stuff. Not to mention a great liquor cabinet that someone is sending me :-)
As for the lampshades... they're all original with the lamps. I have a few other lamps in the house, as well... but it's still a wreck. No time for anything! Hopefully I'll have some photos soon.

I am moderator of a Yahoo group with the same theme:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/atomicliving
But sadly, no one ever posts there. You're welcome to join... there are a lot of photo albums full of everyone's stuff!

I got the biggest kick out of seeing your home...
I plan to put up photos of my 20 years of collecting one of these days.
I personally love the way you decorate, but have you ever sat in your house looked around and said to yourself "Is this a home or a store?"
I do that.
I dated a guy who said my house made him dizzy.
keep collecting I know you will. I will also check out your atomic living page..

Yeah, it definitely feels like a museum sometimes. Not so much now, that I moved. My last place was a lot smaller, so things were starting to get packed there. Not to mention I got rid of stuff when I left!

What sort of stuff do you collect (era)?

What a wonderful home! You've got wonderful style. I have a question about the old fan. Does it work? I've been wanting one for our kitchen...we want to take out the ceiling fan, and we have no 'hood' for our stove, so we need to do something for 'air' in there. Do they put out enough air to use while cooking?

It works, but I'm scared to use it. A lot of those old appliances suck a lot of energy (esp. fans), I'm scared of it short circuting. But I had a friend who used one a little larger than mine for cooling purposes and it worked just fine.

My mom got it for me several Christmases ago. I think she got it from some old junky granny catalog called The Lighter Side. Its a lamp-- dunno if you knew that or not.

The grass is separate. I got those at Michael's craft store. They usually have them in the spring. Good luck finding them, though... those seem to fly off the shelves! They are four squares of 'em. It looks really tacky (BAD, not good tacky) without them there.

I'm sort of flamingo crazed, and that is a really neat idea, putting the grass under it like that. I live in an apartment and my landlord won't let me put a flamingo out front, so that would be the next best thing.

A friend of mine, in his store (which sold kitschy-retro stuff), got one of those shallow metal washtubs, put that really stiff floral foam on the bottom, covered it with fake moss, and stuck those lawn flamingoes in it for a display. That might work!
