Summary: I can't think of one. Just wanted to write about Lolli. :D



Where magic leads her, Lolli goes.

She’s so much like Val in that sense. She’s so much like the girl whose whims once led them to the foot of a troll’s bridge. Maybe that’s why Lolli chose to bring her along, like with Polly-the-cat. Maybe that’s why Val, unlike the cat, didn’t get pushed off the edge of their world. Because cats don’t believe in magic the way Val and Lolli did.

On the other hand, Val never peed on Lolli’s skirts.

And Lolli hardly likes working with logic anyway.

Lolli prefers shortcuts. Lolli prefers the backup stash of Never, broken rules and all, tucked into her shoe. Pressed beneath her right heel and the inner sole of one of her stained, white go-go boots, against her toes and fervent in her mind. Her last-resort paradise. Her final taste of a fairytale. Her sunshine in a bag.

Yeah, Lolli’s gone.

Yeah, Luis and Dave and Val are gone too, in different directions.

Yeah, it’s that easy for friends to fall apart. Even if maybe they never really were.

Val’s gone home, because she had one all along.

Dave and Luis — well, Lolli doesn’t care about them anymore.

It’s just her.

And that’s how it always was anyway.
