Good Story....
I got a text last night from
gwynethfar saying that the organ player from Remember WENN was in the show she was watching in Chicago. (Fiddler on the Roof) Now i instantly thought it was Carolee Carmello, (AKA, Maple Lamarsh) because Jen said that she was going to be in another show in Chicago. But it wasn't Carolee, it was Mary Stout, (AKA Eugenia Bremer) Jen stage doored her, and mentioned that i was a huge Remember WENN fan, and Mary told Jen that she thought i was friends with her on facebook, (I wasn't, but i am now!) All this is being texted to me via
gwynethfar
Anyway, long story short, Mary Stout and I are friends on Facebook, and I am waiting to see if Amanda Naughton (Betty Roberts) accepts my friend request. If you too want to friend them, just do a search for them.

I promised you all a Super Secret WENN Project in July, and here it is!
In May, Biz and I attended MediaWest Con together. To calm ourselves after a bit of a scary incident late one night, we decided to pop in an episode of Remember WENN. Two hours later, we were still awake and still watching episodes. Something had captured our attention, something we had not noticed in ten years of watching the show.
As most of us remember, one of the fans cornered Rupert outside of a Broadway theater a few years back and asked for resolution to the cliffhangers. One was Hilary's marriage - was she really married? Yes, Rupert said - to Scott. Ooh, wow, said Biz and I, that's unexpected and fascinating!
Well, 5 weeks ago, we were watching Caller ID and realized something - it was not, actually, unexpected. Not if you paid attention to the hints that Rupert was dropping as early as mid-season 3. We started jumping around seasons 3 and 4, watching Scott and Hilary's interactions and realized that Rupert actually began foreshadowing their relationship and marriage twenty episodes before Hilary's revelation in the finale. One big clue is his use of the Hands of Time - that has always reflected Jeff and Hilary's life, right down to two wives. In Caller ID, Hilary comes straight out and says she needs to choose between Brent (Jeff's character) and Philip (Scott's) - hello, set up.
With this in mind, we sat down and took notes - on dates, times, wardrobes, and their interactions. From those notes came our brand new WENN endeavor: Hott.
What is Hott? Hilary + scOTT. We created a new fansite, complete with relationship analysis, episode interpretations, timeline for the last two seasons, and screen captures of over a dozen episodes, plus icons and wallpapers. It is, of course, a work in continual progress that we hope will be a lively and vibrant representation of our couple. Why did we do this? Devoting entire days at a time to this project? This especially will come as a shock - after years of Scott/Betty and Jeff/Hilary shipping, Biz and I are very firmly in the camp of Scott/Hilary. They have surpassed all others to become our couple of choice.
Not sure what to think? Visit Hott, read our theories and see if you don't believe us. :) Hott
Coming in the near future: A more general Remember WENN site and archive, and simpler pairing pages.

Does anyone else find Remember WENN to be very...calming (besides the last one)?
I watched a couple of episodes this morning in my mission to transfer my tapes to DVD and Ive just been in the best mood all day. Maybe because watching the episodes takes me back to a different time in my life (high school), or its my love for the show and the characters. Or maybe its because I know each and every episode so well. There are some episodes its probably been 5 or 10 years since Ive seen them and I still know every word! I guess its just "comfortable".

Figured the inkwell would look nice... and tags are now visible on the front page of the post. I was still using an old layout style, so I changed it and we have a pretty community now. :)

I have tags set up now so that anyone can create and add to them. Lets try not to make them too unwieldy. For a template for the episode tags.. use this as an example: S1, episode, On The Air (Multiple tags need to be separated by a comma, unless you wish them to be one phrase.
Also, if we're going to be using the community and livening it up... feel free to have fun! Post graphics, Macros.. whatever! We could use some LOLWENN! (if its "Not Work Safe" please label it as such (NWS) and put it behind an LJ cut. Also, pleze to be making the peektures no bigger than 500X500, por favor. :), and any more than 1 pic in a post? Use an LJ cut please.

Crossposted from WENNlist:
Out of the blue this afternoon I heard from Rupert. He wanted to know if the show [in Owensboro, KY] had been good, if we enjoyed it, if the rest of the audience liked it, etc. He told me he is still keeping in touch with many of the cast, especially Kevin. Melinda has moved to France with her partner and their pets; they have a small farm! (Her partner of ten years is the gentleman who played "Sgt. Scully" on MASH, Josh Bryant.) He had actually asked Tom Beckett if he would like to play the part of Victor in this production (TB originally auditioned for Victor's role), but Tom already had a prior commitment.
Anyway, interesting news is that CURTAINS [his play presently on Broadway] has been opted for a 30-city tour in the fall of 2009 by the Theatre of the Stars people. No casting will be done until the spring, but it won't be starring David Hyde-Pierce. Oh, well.
The news to make you weep is that Rupert is about fed up with AMC and is not against any of the bootleg copies of the series, despite the fact that no one is getting paid. He knows people want copies and wishes he could do something to distribute, so he's very interested in the torrents being done (he hopes they are good copies, though, because he bought copies of the bootlegs and didn't think they were very good!). He says they are even asking AMC if they can at least be released to YouTube, which won't cost them a dime in duplicating DVDs. The mulish idiots are still even dragging their feet on that.
What made me drop my jaw and nearly have hysterics is that he has had several companies that produce DVDs contact him wanting to release the series and he's had to tell them that they have to take it up with AMC. HE WAS CONTACTED BY ACORN MEDIA, f'Gossakes, who release all those wonderful British series like the Lord Peter Wimsey stories, TO THE MANOR BORN, GOOD NEIGHBORS, etc, and he had to direct them to AMC (who turned them DOWN). THEY came to AMC! Is this not the stupidest, imbecilic, most asinine thing you ever heard of????
Rupert also noticed, BTW, that they have been billing MAD MEN as "AMC's very first original series" (which means they've disavowed THE LOT, too, I see). He said they added insult to injury when they plastered downtown Manhattan with ads for the series that said "MAD MEN...where the truth lies"!
::cough:: I trust that none of you will mention this in any letters to AMC, okay? <wry grin> I just had to share. I was in the car at the time and wanted to start punching things.

While working with Biz on our Super Secret WENN Project (tm), I started playing with my DVDs. I have a program that can rip from the DVDs to both .mp4 (to be played as a video in iTunes) and mp3 (because this show is well suited to audio, generally). Would there be interest in my uploading the series in this format? The mp4 seems to be about 282mb and the audio 28mb. I could maybe try .avi, but I think those files would be large - my program thinks bigger is better!
Right now, I have Caller ID as mp4 and Happy Homecomings as mp3. (I tested the DVD I was working with, hence the odd choices. *g*) You can download Happy Homecomings here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2LCBIK 91 and Caller ID here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AIGNDY NJ
If there's interest, I could start with 1x01 and do one episode (video and audio) each week. Katie had wanted to do episode discussions again; this could help facilitate it. It's another option for those unable to get torrents to work.

Someone on YahooGroups is putting full WENN episodes in the Files section to be downloaded using torrents. Several people have posted saying they've been able to get the eps okay, and if you're familiar with torrents, you'll be able to get the episodes for your own enjoyment! (If you're not a member of the YahooGroups list, I think you can still get into the files section without having to join, but I'm not positive about this. But you should join anyway! http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/wennli st/ )
Use this tutorial to help if you're unfamiliar with downloading these files:
http://www.zeropaid.com/news/6351/Azure us+-+A+Beginner%27s+Guide+to+Bi\tTorrent+D ownloading
It's my understanding that you might can watch the eps using Media Player, but if not, you can download DivX and they'll play with that program. http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/codec/
So far, the first six episodes have been uploaded. Feel free to share so that others can download and watch!

Does everyone know about this? I know it's been discussed on WENNlist, but I haven't see a mention of it here.
Armchair Detective, A Remember WENN Mystery
None of the original cast, but sounds intriguing: Rupert has combined "Armchair Detective" and "Ghost of WENN" into a play for a mystery festival going on in Owensboro. Several of us have tickets for the Saturday night, June 14, performance, and I know there are some others going on the 21st.
Note: if anyone plans to attend, beware the "host hotel." Unless they've upgraded since January, the place has about three years worth of really bad ratings, including dirty rooms, vermin sighted, etc.

We got together today and had a great time. We watched INPYMAWA in a crowded (and rather noisy, so we really couldn't hear much) restaurant. We talked about which character everyone likes and general getting to know you stuff. We had a liot of fun and decided we wanted to try to make it a regular thing. To that end, I've created a Yahoogroup so that we can all be in one place to chat among ourselves and plan stuff.

It's been over a decade since I've watched this show, and still I'm so drawn to it. My cellphone ringtone continues to sing "remember wenn". Does anyone know of anyway I could get my hands on any format of the show? I miss it dearly. Even VHS. They have ways of turning VHS into DVD now.
*sigh* Looking back at all the pictures and reading the Synopsis of the show...just makes me sad...an awesome, good, wholesome show lost in archives.

No one possibly has access to any screencaps of Hilary in 'Mr. and Mrs. Singer', do they? I'm looking for her first scene with Pavla.
Ugh, we need this series on DVD if only for easy access to screencaps. Aren't there only like ten icons of the show floating around?

This was the last of the original four episodes made and they certainly broke several comedy cliches with this one. There is always a sitcom ep (sometimes "a very special episode") where the series antagonist character shows a soft side. Lots of tearful moments, an "oooh" from the audience, a big funny comeuppance, and then it's over. In this, Hilary shows her hurt feelings much more subtly and therefore more realistically. There are still great gags, and at the end, of course, we find that "saintly" Grace has her wicked side as well.
In "Klon9366" Victor, who has previously appeared as very staid and businesslike, showed his creative side. Now we discover more facets of him: lover (and after that kiss, I do not think Victor and Grace's relationship was reserved to pecks on the cheek and hand-holding!) and precocious writer of silly comedy.
Not to mention Betty making acquaintance of the green-eyed monster! Again, something that would have been played up in a typical sitcom for "big yuks" and here just adds a facet to her character.

Anybody watch Episode 3 (Rock and A Soft Place) this week?
Heres an idea. Trivia questions based on the week's episode.
For example.
How did Victor describe Mrs. Mellon to Mr. Eldridge?
This week: Episode 4: There But For The Grace

Because I don't have "A Rock and A Soft Place" on tape... and it was the first episode I saw, in my high school english class no less, I thought I'd bring this to the table...
I started this several years ago and dusted it off over the last month...If you are on the Remember Wenn Fan Fiction list most of it will be familiar; although I've edited a bit and found an ending. All though a title is still lacking...
Nothing too shocking, simply the Hilary's childhood story that has been percolating through my brain for years.
