Boston's Thee Electric Bastards, whose expansive psych-pop falls somewhere in among Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd, the Zeppelin end of the White Stripes catalogue (but only if it was scored by an Elephant Six band), and Yoshimi-type Flaming Lips. And if that seems like an awful lot of territory, well, they cover a hell of a lot of it. With songs about futuristic life (Robots Do Not Rock) blatant machismo (The Peepin' Song, Play The Fool), alcoholism and mental health (Millennium Blues, Black Jets), The Bastards have allowed the listener a peek into their sordid little world, where society's ills and fears are celebrated. All of The Bastards songs are well crafted slices of weirdness, with compelling breaks in the music that are sometimes jarring in effect. It harkens back to the days when rock music was more experimental, and less formulaic.

Hi Everyone,
I'm really happy to announce that the fifth release under my record label, Sonic Deadline, is finally available for order! This is a split 7" between Fuck the Facts, who have just recently signed to Relapse with their new full-length Stigmata High-Five, and Mesrine, serial killer obsessed old-school grind veterans from Quebec City! Fuck the Facts contribute one song called Taken From the Nest, a totally epic grind-metal masterpiece which is a different version of a song found on their Relapse debut, and Mesrine give us three more tracks of their total Dahmer worship that we've come to love and expect from these guys. To those who have pre-ordered, thanks so much for the patience, your copies are being shipped out this week and early next week. To everyone else, just under half of these babies are gone already, so I suggest you order soon while you still have the chance!

This latest release is a split 7" between two devestatingly brutal Canadian grind/metal bands, Fuck the Facts, who have just recently signed to Relapse, and Quebec's old-school grind veterans Mesrine.

M. KOURIE "The Dreams of..." cd is available from Chrome Peeler Records for $9.
M. Kourie is the solo ambient project of Nathan Berlinguette, who is also known for his work in Creation Is Crucifixion, 5/5/2000 and his record label, Daft Alliance. This is his debut as a solo artist.
Recorded at Louder Studios in San Francisco by Tim Green (Fucking Champs), THE DREAMS OF M. KOURIE is a compilation of random interpretations of dreams rather than an album with a single theme. Each song was recorded using different techniques at different times.
Most of the foundation work was done using a guitar and a sampler. While M. Kourie was originally conceived as an ambient music project comprised entirely of black metal samples, the idea was jettisoned in favor of original material and sounds. However about 100 black metal samples were used thoughout the album although its impossible to recognize any of them as they are buried in drones.
Also appearing on the album are Tim Green (The Fucking Champs), Tomo and Ryan Unks (Creation Is Crucifixion, Circadia).
Next for M. Kourie is scoring an experimental remake of the classic adult film BEHIND THE GREEN DOOR and touring the US in Fall 2006.
