Hey, I dunno if this has been posted yet [I can only be on for a second, busy day!] but, Threadless is having a big sale right now where 146 of their shirts are only $9 and the rest are $12 each, and thats pretty good if y'ask me. =D Plus, these shirts are always the most fun to change up to a style you'd prefer. xP So, for those of you that don't know it, its http://www.threadless.com?streetteam=swintpoof and the sale's going until I want to say another week or so? Give it a few days from now, just in case so you don't wait too long!

| my DIY fashion line! |
[04 Jun 2008|01:30am] |
Hey, I'm Cheyenne. The other week I got to show a DIY fashion line for a fashion show at my university!
I made everything except socks, leggings, angel wings, and also the green jacket. I painted but did not make the black pants. My friend made the yellow bee hood that the 90s club kid model is wearing. Tell me what you think!

[20 May 2008|07:11pm] |
Hi there, does anyone have any tips or hints on how to make a tutu? I'm making one for a party in a couple of weeks and I want it to be really really puffy and I'm not quite sure how to achieve this and if anyone has any tutorials they could point me too that would also be great, thanks!

| IDEAS NEEDED REAL BAD! |
[27 Apr 2008|03:54pm] |
i bought this ugly prom/bridesmaid dress from my church thriftshop thinking i could do something with it...well i havent thought of anything yet. it's a size 4, has a bodice top, and i'm a size 2 so i could resize the ugly thing. its polyester and silk.
but i want to make it not so ugly so i can actually wear it not have this thing sitting around haunting me.
so please take a look under the cut and ANY commentaries and IDEAS are welcome, my fashion creative side of the brain must have taken a vacation or something. ( Ugly dress )

| Fishing for ideas... |
[26 Apr 2008|09:43pm] |
So, I guess you can say I'm semi-new to this community. Long-time lurker and kind-of novice to the world of clothing reconstruction. I've done a few projects, and I'm itching to start another. So... fishing for ideas for re-constructing a T-shirt!

| Relining a coat |
[17 Nov 2007|08:39pm] |
I got this coat for one euro secondhand (naturally) during the summer.

It's the best coat I've ever owned, but the lining is torn in several places. I'm after getting a really big piece of fabric that would make nice lining, so I think I might re-line it. Has anyone ever done this? Any tips? I reckon if I'm just really careful taking the old stuff out, and then use it as the pattern when I'm cutting the new fabric, it shouldn't be too hard.

| Properly fraying the knees on jeans |
[16 Oct 2007|11:01pm] |
Hi, I'm brand-new here. I was going to post my question to t_shirt_surgery but thought better of it and looked for a more relevant community. Hope you folks can help!
For Halloween, my SO and I are going to be Wayne and Garth from Wayne's World. He went and bought jeans from Target and slit the knees. Of course, if he'd have asked me first, I'd have said go to the Salvation Army or ask around and get some worn jeans with holey knees instead - they'd have been cheaper, and had knees the way they're supposed to be. So now we've got jeans with these sterile knee slits and while I know how to fray denim by pulling the white threads, I have no idea how to make them look naturally knee-worn, know what I mean? Like ( this )
Suggestions? TIA!

| I need some advice about sewing stockings... |
[05 Jul 2007|11:42pm] |
Does anyone know if it would be at all conceivable to take a pair of tights or pantyhose and turn them into thigh-high stockings? And if so, how might I do it?
I don't like to wear pantyhose, I'm strictly a stockings girl, as in two stockings held up by a garter belt. So, whenever my neighborhood friendly department store has a big sale on tights or pantyhose, especially when they are really cheap and/or great patterns I never see as stockings, it makes me a little sad.
Just cutting the legs off of tights doesn't work, of course. They fray and fall apart. I'm thinking I would have to create some kind of cuff around the top, or...something...? I would appreciate any ideas at all.

I have been sitting on this project for more than a month and am still indecisive, so I thought I'd get some opinions.

| Faux Fur Cyber Coat |
[10 Mar 2007|04:30pm] |

This time I used three buckles and straps for XL
I used thicker polypro straps and made them double thick, and folded and sewed the end of the adjustable strap so that the buckle cannot be lost
Have you ever made improvements on a design and wished you could make "house calls" your old items to make the improvements?
