MY AWESOME NEW BODY MOD!!!
So finally after five years of wearing prosthetics, I went in for the surgery and have turned myself into a real elf! Thanks to my incredibly talented friend, Russ Foxx for his amazing work and making a long-time dream of mine come true. It's been over a week since I went in for the procedure and I am still glowing from the whole experience!

So naturally I figured I should post a few pictures and see what all my fellow redheads thought!

This is day four after the surgery.

As you can see, they are healing exceptionally well!

And a close up!

I will post more pictures when the stitches come out and they are fully healed!

x-posted m'dearies!

I figure getting a tattoo after this is going to be easier than a stroll in the park! LOL!

I think that is a safe bet...

It looks he didn't get the skin back together along the entire cut. Even if it manages not to get infected aren't you worried about the deep scar that will leave?

We were originally planning for 4 stitches, but 3 looked better... I wish I had photos from today (day 11) so you could see how the line is practically unnoticeable. If you go to Russ' website you can see a photo from the first ear sculpting he ever did. The photo on his site was taken just days after the stitches came out and even with it being so recent, you can barely see any scars.

Mine come out in a few days and I will post more photos soon.

The man who first did this mod is Steve Haworth and here is a sample of ear sculpting before, during and after...

I think the idea is to stick your tongue out at the same, but opposite, angle of the ear to make your whole face seem long and pointy.

How would describe the pain? Have you used Painkillers for the procedure?

Well, as redheads we have a higher pain tolerance to begin with. Russ froze my ear in three places for the surgery. After I took a bunch of different things for anti-inflammation. Traumeal which is a liquid, homeopathic remedy worked wonders, then I would alternate between natural White Willow Bark capsules and ibuprofen.

Of course I have to admit, it looks absolutely fitting on you, I can´t imagine you not looking like a elf.

How long have you thought about getting this body mod?

Thank you! You are not the only person to have said such a thing!

I had been considering such a mod for five years at least. I started wearing the prosthetics about 5-6 years ago on a regular basis. I was always curious if this sort of modification was possible so I began researching it and discovered that not only could I get it done, but that there were modification artists in Canada who could do it.

When I moved from Toronto to Vancouver by pure chance one of my roommates happened to be good friends with one of these artists and soon he became my friend... Now voila! Insta-elf! :oD

I'd always thought redheads were more sensitive to pain, but after checking out wikipedia it looks like it's high sensitivity in some areas, and lower in other areas. Neat, huh?

Very neat indeed! As a mutant gene it is very interesting to see how it acts.

There are theories that state it is part of the reason why redheads often fade as they grow older (the mutant aspect of the gene begins to become non-mutated). I for example was born with curly red hair that faded into strawberry blond as I grew older until I hit puberty... as soon as I got a surge of hormones my hair became MUCH redder, but unfortunately has begun to fade in the last few years :o(

Is Traumeal good for pain relief or is it a natural numbing agent? P.S. I love the cute pointy ears! :)

Well holee crap. I think it's cool. I never heard of such a thing! More power to you. I really do think it's cool. If I could get away with such a thing in my life and line of work...oh well, haha.

I had an English teacher in high school who naturally had elfish ears.

I am a children's educator and entertainer... if anything this aids me in my line of work LOL!

Maybe one day I'll be that teacher with elf ears kids talk about (as I haven't decided yet if I will go into the montessori school system or not)... :oD
