hi everyone
If your looking for a place to live (rent) there's a place in 34 Stanhope Rd, RG2 7HN, near reading uni ideal for students / grads.
The house is not finished yet but will be soon. We (2 girls) are living here so boys are most appreciated but girls feel free to come if you need a room… It has a big TV, big american style fridge with ice dispenser and all those things. The landlord loves these things… he even asked us what kind of curtains we wanted. 5/6 rooms (3/4 to rent one is really small) 3 bathrooms, one big kitchen, big garden, dinning room and living room. Broadband, etc. Non smokers only, this is a must or contract will end. Contact landlord: timjoneso2@o2.co.uk Tim Jones 07740308459

| Room in wessex |
[10 Dec 2007|03:46pm] |
Hi guys
Does anyone here want to move into university accommodation next term, or know of anyone who might? I've just been offered a room in private accommodation that I'd like to take up, but am unable to do so unless they can fill my room at Wessex.
Rent is £2805/yr (though obviously cheaper as you're not paying for the first term), rooms come with a washbasin and the entire hall is self-catered. Great atmosphere, great people, and a 10-minute walk from the center of campus.
Cheers!

Hi everyone
I'm a 26 year old girl, will be starting my PhD at the Univ. of Reading and I'm looking for a room. want to share a house with other students (not with the landlord). Does anyone know of any rooms to rent near the univ.? I have a few adresses that I will check but most of them were already taken, so the more the better.
Please if you know anything or anyone just reply. I'll contact again for more details. Thanks in advance.

Greetings! An old-timer is returning!
I graduated summer 2006 and am returning in September this year for my PGCE year.
For my degree I was based at Whiteknights, so I know that area and the town centre like the back of my hand. This time I'm based over at Bulmershe and staying in Bulmershe hall (trust me, after Childs Hall and sharing a bathroom with 15 girls, self-catered/ensuite will be luxury!).
Thing is that I only visited Bulmershe literally about 3 times in 3 years, so know nothing about the place. What is there to do in that part of town? What is the hall like? More importantly, where's the nearest supermarket?! I'll need food and I'll be damned if I'm getting the bus to Sainsburys in town all the time!
Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know who I need to talk to? Basically I've had enough and want to leave and I don't really know how to go about it. Also, does the loan stop if we drop out? Any ideas?

Does anyone know of things to do in Reading besides going to pubs or The Oracle? I mean, pubs are okay, but I'm not much of a club/bar person... Anyone know of any bowling alleys in Reading, and if so, where??
Thanks!

Does anyone know who I talk to at the university to hire a room (maybe in the Union, maybe elsewhere) for a meeting/event that's not for a university society?

Hi!
I just got an offer to do European Studies at Reading starting 2007, and as it's my first choice I hope as soon as I get my grades I'll be there. I got sent a letter about accomodation, and I was wondering what people thought of it. I looked around Wessex hall on the open day, but none of the others. And I'm trying to get my research done before school work piles up.
Anyway, any opinions/views/things I should know? Anything would be helpful (but not too horrific stories, thanks.)
And if by any chance anyone knows anything more about the course I'm going to (hopefully) be doing - I'd love a student's perspective.
Thank you!

Hey guys, just to remind you about the celebrations going on at the union for World Aids Day on Friday. Tickets are £4.50 with an NUS card or £6 without, we have two live bands and it's for charity. It should be a lot of fun and a good excuse to dress up!

Hello. Well I'm an international student (from the U.S.) and have been accepted to go to Reading for this spring. I will be living in an on-campus dorm with full-catering but recently, I have heard horror stories about the food. I was just wondering what kind of food is served and how is it? Thanks for any info.

I'm sure most of you are aware now that Reading are trying to close the physics department. This is baaaaad for many reasons, which RUSU explain better than I will. It looks like they're going to succeed, but there is some gathering resistance now the local MPs have got the House of Commons Education Select Committee and HEFCE involved. So could I encourage you to sign the the petitionand make sure you put your affilitation down as University of Reading.

| A stationery query... |
[20 Oct 2006|08:10am] |
Maybe some of you here do art or typography and can help? I'm doing the typography practical module, and I'm supposed to have an A3 pad of layout paper. The RUSU shop sells A4 ones, Hobbycraft sells A3 ones, WHS sells none at all as far as I can see... Anyone know where an A3 one might be found?
Thanks! ;)

| Week 2! |
[18 Oct 2006|11:56am] |
Hiya; apparently I'm your new moderator. Woo. I'm not sure what I'm actually going to do - suggestions welcome.
It's week 2! I know we've got some new people here, including me - how's it all going? What are you up to? Done anything particularly fun recently? Events coming up you want to tell people about? Do comment or post something...
As for me, I have discovered I can't do Japanese so I'm busy working out whether to join another module (Linguistics or Typography) or apply for exemption based on previous study... I'm hopefully going to get into proofreading for Spark, and I'm trying to work up the courage to go to an event with the LGBT people or the English society, or maybe a music group. It's terribly annoying being shy.

By any chance is there anyone here, or do you know anyone who's going to the Morrissey concert on Dec. 8th at Wembley? I'm looking for someone to share train/taxi expenses with.

so....
you know those big boards around the construction site near the union? one of them is now artistically adorned with a large, hand-shaped monster thing with a speech bubble reading "BOMB NORTH KOREA".
nice to see the intellectuals are still making their voice heard.
