Selling Stuff
Wanna buy some genuine RBK kit ? Washburn Bantam XB-500 5-String Active Bass £250 I've been gigging with this for years now and it has never let me down, but I'm upgrading at long last so it's time to let it go. It has a few little dents in line with what you'd expect, but nothing too noticable. Oh, and it's gloss black with shiny silver hardware. Great tone, and the low B really makes the room shake... Original price was around £500, so I'm after £250. Behringer Bass V-Amp £50 Hardly used except in practices. This is an effects unit and amp modeller for Bass guitar. It has tons of different amp settings and FX and is the Behringer equivalent to a Line 6 Bass POD. can be used with an amp as an FX unit or direct to the PA as a complete replacement for an amp... no more lugging heavy kit around to gigs. Comes with foot pedals and gig bag. Will also sell together with Bass for £280 Behringer Guitar V-Amp Pro (Rackmount) £80 Rackmount guitar version of Behringer's POD clone. The rackmount version features extra XLR and digital outputs which make it ideal for home recording and live use. This has been used for live gigs in the past producing some massively heavy sounds without the use of an amplifier. In one particular gig I was even able to produce and control feedback using it.... that's just through the PA, no onstage amp!! Gotta love that. Anyway, I've been playing bass rather than guitar for a while now so I simply don't need it anymore. Originally paid £170 for it. Has one missing knob (can still be operated), but otherwise in tip top condition, hence will take £80 for it. Postage at cost on all items... prefer collection for Bass guitar. Any Takers ? | | Wednesday, February 18th, 2009 | 9:18 am [boneskarn8]

KARN8 NEW ALBUM OUT! Karn8 are pleased to announce that our debut album ‘Of All The Strange Things’ is out now on Wicked Boy Records. The album was recorded and produced by the band and mastered by Clive Cherry at Tongue and Groove Studios. It has taken two years to complete and we are very proud of the results. You can purchase a copy via the online shop or download from iTunes .... Enjoy! Album Review"What is noticeable as the second track kicks in is that Karn8 inject a lot of energy to their music - there’s a bit of a Rage Against The Machine thing going on in ‘As If You Could’ and ‘Strip’ opens up to a noisy distorted guitar riff in the choruses. The return at the end of ‘Running Free’ has the building blocks of something that could turn into an extended Kyuss-esque jam but sadly doesn’t.
Female singer Kirst’s sultry voice really shines on ‘True Face’, a stripped down song made up of a moving bass line and precise cymbal clangs. In fact the entire album is held together by some really nice bass grooves throughout, courtesy of Bones, and the whole thing is bookended by the sombre acoustic guitar led ‘Wasteland’ and its reprise.
It’s obvious that the band have been working hard to find sound and it really shows. The version of ‘Where The Fires Play’ on this album is much better than the early single release as the mix is a lot more balanced and it just livelier. These are songs that have possibly been written to be played live rather than played back on a record.
The production is raw and organic which is what usually happens when bands record things themselves meaning that the drums sound like drums, the guitars like guitars and so on without being pro tooled to death. That’s not to say it’s bad or sloppy, just that it captures a live feel and an essence of a group of people having fun with their music.
They haven’t created a new genre or discovered new song structures, what they have done is produce 12 songs, whether good, bad or average, that really link together in one fully formed package. There is room for improvement, some of the song such as ‘Over’ are forgettable and don’t really go anywhere, but very few bands make a five star album first time round.
They’re not original, not trying new or different but Karn8 do a pretty good job at making an album that follows the traditional rock standard. On Of All The Strange Things the band deliver nuts and bolts rock ‘n’ roll that harks back to the days when guitar bands played guitar songs and is not too dissimilar to some of the groups currently flirting with the mainstream or apart of it."Steven Cookson @ Suite101.com Facebook Fan PageAs some of you will already know, Karn8 have had a Facebook Group for some time. But we have found this to be slightly limited, so we have now started a Karn8 Facebook Fan Page. This has more options and makes it far easier or us to communicate with everyone. NOTE TO ALL LONDON FANS
We'd love to play more gigs in London but we've currently almost hit the brick wall with most promoters. We just got refused a gig in Antilight London because they don't think we will bring in a large crowd. So unless you guys go and talk to some of them, we won't be able to play London. If you like to help and need promo packs etc. Let me know. Layla | | Tuesday, April 18th, 2006 | 11:29 am [daevas]

Hands up who can make the Winchester gig on 21st of May? This should be blast since we have been bottling up all the girly bounciness and the dolls are getting restless!! So, Winchester 21st of May RBK play at the Railway Inn. We're headlining which means a longer set if you ask nicely! ;) Please come along and dance the night away with real and imaginary dollies :) | | Friday, March 31st, 2006 | 2:03 pm [scotbotuk]

No it's not my birthday! I did a photoshoot a while back with the lovely photographer from karn8 to enter a competetion for the Dvilution magazine for the photo to be printed on the magazine cover. This was for the special birthday issue of the mag! The photographer suggested that we go to the ruins of a burn-down restaurant she knew of near where she lived. We decided that it would be cool to do a tea party style shoot where everything looks like has gone wrong. We arrived there at 7:00 PM and realised that there is no way in apart from having to crawl into a very small opening in the fence surrounding the site. It was raining very heavily and was very cold! Azy decided she wouldn't want to go in and therefore andy stayed with her to keep her company. I decided to go alo with the photographer and the two guides. We needed guides cause there is no lighting in the building and it's very dangerous to walk around a half fallen in to pieces place without a guide. To cut te story short, it was a thrilling experince to go in and take the photos in pitch black. We had no means of lighting apart from a small torch and the occasional camera flashes. There was shattered glass, dead mice and broken furniture everywhere.. scray but exciting. Anyway, we ddin't come first in the competetion cause the photos didn't end up looking that 'Birthday' like but some of these will be printed in the runners page inside the magazine. I've posted some of these pics for you to see! The first couple are taken at home before we left! Also, scotbotuk are you still up for a photoshoot with the band? if yes, how does the 4th of feb sound to you and can you suggest a place/theme? |
