Letter to the NHSCPA

I want to send them this, with some pictures of the boys, for their Happy Tails (new window)section. It's where people give them updates on adopted animals. When I contacted them about it, they were excited. I don't think anyone's sent them an update on any of their small animals. Of, if they have, it's not very common.

Hello NHSPCA )

So, I'm getting ready to adopt my first two little ratties.  I've always been a big fan, but I've never been in a situation where I was able to have them.  Now that I have the time/money to care for them, and a house that actually allows pets, I'm ready!

So, Ive been reading constantly about them, but I want some advice from real rattie owners!  Tell me anything you think I need to know as a first time rat owner...or anything you wish you would have known with your first.

I'm a total n00b.

Big (and growing bigger) problem.

My first time posting, and with problems, not exaltations.
I recently purchased two adorable little rats from a pet store in Kingston. One was a runt and the other was larger than the others she was being sold with, and I inquired if she was from a different litter. The store owner denied this, and I bought the larger rat along with the smaller, being informed that they had been seperated. I had these rats for a week in Kingston, and brought them home today. Unfortunately, my parents do not know of the existance of these rats (long story short, they were bought in secrecy). Even more unfortunate still, Hester (the larger one) appears to be pregnant. I bought a pregnant rat. By my guess she is about a third through her gestation. I do not have the resources to cope with 6-18 little ratlets, and yet I have grown very attatched to Hester. I know I must seem like a stupid, stupid, irresponsible pet owner, but I am simply unfit to care for the rats that will come along. I think that my only options would be to give them to a pet store, give Hester to the pet store, I don't know. This is all so unplanned and sudden, and my time is dwindling. Any suggestions? Anyone want a rat? Seven?
Ugh...

rattie woes

Hey all,

I've noticed that since my rat Stu has hit his middle age that he's lost a bit of weight. Not a lot of course and his appetite has been normal, but he's slowed down a bunch. He's sleeps more than my other younger guys, not as active as he used to be... I'm just so worried that he's going to the bridge soon. He recovered from a mild eye infection, so maybe this is just recovery time? *sigh* Anyone care to give advice/support? Thanks in advance...
