hi!

a long long time ago, i was very kindly invited to this community, and i must apologize for sitting idle for so long. i think i started reading some very depressing books last year and was very demotivated. however i have always been a fan of books written by dead people and one of my favorites is the children's book 'The Little Prince'.

Even though I've been a member of this community for a while now, this is my first post. I feel like I should have something better than a few measly sketches T_T;;

Last summer, I bought The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon after reading this post by themadteaparty. I ended up finishing it in a day and a half, and read it a second time before the month was out. Many, many thanks for introducing me to this book ;3; ♥ (I've since recommended it to a dozen of my friends, using force when necessary to get them to read it XDDD)

Anyway, I finally found the fanart (just sketches :P) I did for the book and scanned it in ^^; This is OLD art (over a year old T_T), so I apologize for the crappiness x_x;

This summer, I entertained myself with His Dark Materials trilogy. I couldn't stop myself from drawing Balthamos and Baruch, easily my most favorite characters from the book. It sucks that they don't have a lot of "screen time" (:P), so I contented myself with drawing them.

Again, crappy pencil sketches. Also, if you haven't read the last book in HDM, beware of a huuuuuge spoiler.

OMG I'm so sorry that the first HDM art post here is going to suck _D_ some of these I did a while ago, but I didn't get my hands on a decent scanner until coming back home from school. Over winter break I reread The Golden Compass (I hadn't touched it since fifth grade D:) and I experienced a REBIRTH of the latent love that I held for the book ;A; for whatever reason I'd always liked The Subtle Knife the best out of the trilogy--probably because when I read The Golden Compass I didn't really absorb most of its BRILLIANCE--but now I think The Golden Compass has replaced it in my heart ;3;

Three doodles: Mrs. Coulter, Lyra, and Asriel/Will (for permanentwhite who drew me that sexy Tom/Huck :B ♥). The Asriel/Will one is probably not safe for kiddies? (but it's not porny sorry lol)

LOL...and to tell the truth I don't think I ever finished The Amber Spyglass :') (and I dare to call myself a fan D:) AHH anyway so psyched about the movie~~♥

First post! Yes, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a classic, but being who I am, and being friends with themadteaparty, I just had to uh, corrupt it. _D_

Anything i might say on behalf of this book would damage the effect of surprise on its potential readers, so I shall leave it at the basics:

The Cheese Monkeys by Chip Kidd takes place in an art school of the 1950s, where the narrator, as well as the [very] few idiosyncratic friends he makes, reconsider all they knew of art, manipulation and life in general as they grudgingly sign up for Commercial Art 127, taught by the ridiculously eccentric Mr. Winter Sorbeck. Whose babies you want to bear as you turn the pages. Very worth dropping whatever you are reading for this.

...eh, all i could manage today was a sketch of a slutty! older Davy. ._____. for shame. I'll draw better stuff later, promise. :3

Is it ok to post sketches? I have a bunch of Keys to the Kingdom sketches, but only 1 finished thing (which isn't very good anyway). :o

Oh and here's an idea, maybe all posts should have tags with the book titles and authors, and we can keep a list of all the tags in the userinfo or something? That way people looking for particular fanart in the future can find it easier :D Sorry if I'm like totally out of line for suggesting it XD *not a community person*

   I'm only halfway through the book, but so far i daresay that it is a gorgeous piece of fiction. Not only do the words create an addictive ambiance from the first sentence on, the plot flows very nicely: just when you prepare yourself to complain about a flat progression of events, something *literally* jumps out in front of the characters. Very easy to lose yourself in, this book. :)

MAN, I knew I had to draw something immediately after I saw all these lovely posts in this community already (even though I was depressed about the fact that I've read NONE of those books, damn need to catch up) I seriously adore the concept of this community though, and Connie and Maddy are obviously the artistic geniuses to come up with something like this!

I happened to spy on "kiterunner" as an interest just now and I WANT TO DRAW FOR IT FOR MY NEXT SUBMISSION!!!!!! hahaahha! 

But anyways, my first piece of art for this community is for one of my favourite books "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte- a classic I'm sure most of you know or may have read. I really loved this novel, and even though I read it for school (which usually completely ruins the novelty of the book for me sometimes for some reason) I still couldn't put it down!

Are there any particular works from which you're dyyyyyiiing to see fanart? The Golden Compass, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Beloved, Good Omens, children's classics from when you were a bonny babe, that rare book that went out of print after a month because only one person (you) loved it---anything goes! Everyone, feel free to comment--even if you're just passing by. Who knows, someone else may love that same underappreciated, underprinted book that you do.
