The street is velvety black, newly born asphalt glistening in the mellow rain. Windows lining the narrow alleyway are black, empty - walls they cling to seem to hover over the wet road, tall and stoic. The doors are nailed shut, the first two bearing a red cross painted over the white wood. The stench of death looms just inside the grim-faced buildings like a transparent new god caged inside, ready to wrap its bony fingers around your throat, jealous of your warmth. A paper flits through the air, a flyer of the second coming of Christ. (Nobody listened to the tired priest who died on the street corner, hands full of fresh pamphlets of Judgment Day.) Now the damp paper flutters past black windows, weighed down by constant rain. It lands on the dirty windshield of a red Toyota, to rest for a while on the car that is parked in middle of the road, doors open, radio playing a fitting tune for the silent city: white noise and nothing else. Down along the road hundreds of abandoned cars stand by, and festive decorations shimmer dully in shattered display windows; one of those windows has eaten a car, and spat out several meters of glass shards. It is New Orleans 2013. The end of the world. |

Rajalla is a multifandom/multiverse text-based role-playing game, open to both pre-existing and original characters. Gaming happens by posts, supported by a simplified numerical game-system. Set in the closed city of New Orleans, connected to the city of Crystal Valley in Holy Harmonia (Suikoden), this is a world ravaged by war and diseases, death and disasters. The characters are brought in by a mysterious force called 'Portals', and cannot leave. For all intents and purposes, the city is dead -- only a very few survivors are left after nuclear war, the White Plague, riots, and conflicts between Harmonia and New Orleans. The ones who have survived are left to build their own nations, form new principalities. Will they want to survive the apocalypse, or will they keep the fires spreading? |
