Summary: Here is my picture for the art tag challenge on ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) raise_the_dead for ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) blackhound's prompt Destiny. I chose to heat up the challenge with a steamy reunion of Jack Sparrow and his beloved ship, the Black Pearl. The story that inspired this picture is hendercat's Oath's Renewed. The style is Art Nouveau, and I plan eventually to complete the background, but the centre is complete and here for your enjoyment--it's all I could get done in a week!

Because of travel and necessary personal obligations, honorat was not available to contribute her art for this past week's challenge. To give her a little more time and keep this moving along, I'm going to make an executive decision to tag geekmama with the prompt "honor," to be posted by seven days from now (Sunday, Sept. 7).
This is the prompt ainsoph15 assigned to honorat, but we'll simply move her back into the queue and whomever chooses her in the future, please come up with a different prompt.

As your Mods, it's been our job to come up with challenges for all of you to enjoy. I'd like to think we've done pretty well so far, but even our inventive minds are bound to run dry eventually.
So if any of you have ever thought, "Gee, wouldn't it be neat if..." here's your chance. Post your suggestion for a challenge in the comments and if we like it, we'll put it on the list to use at some point in the future. (With due credit, of course.)
I've screened comments on this post, so don't worry that anyone will think your idea is silly or say "that's been done already" or anything like that.

| We Have Artses Challenge! |

Artistic pirate lasses and laddies, tis time! Below is the list of eligible artists. These people have indicated that they are willing and able to produce pirate art, and we are holding their feet to the flames. One of the perks of being a moderator is that we three get to decide WHO GOES FIRST.
Reminder. You have 24 hours to respond saying yes, I'm game. Respond here to this com. From that point on, you will have ONE WEEK to produce the splendiferous art that we are all dying to see. Upon producing said art, then you get to play dictator and choose the next pirate and (here's the fun part) give that pirate a prompt. We are playing pretty fast and lose with the prompts, but keep in mind how easy it would be for you to incorporate said prompt in your piece. Basically, as always, the code here is respect!
Now, we three have decided that lolitalockhart is the first pirate on deck, with the prompt "horizon."

| Notice to writers |

One of my f-listers and a writer in our fair fandom, mamazano, has uncovered what appears to be plagiarism of her POTC writing. You can learn more through the link I've put in my own journal, as well as the links to a couple of other stories - one of the original writer's, and one of the alleged plagiarist's.
Note: I say "alleged" because while fanfic writers have no legal protections from this sort of thing, I would prefer to use these legalistic terms because the appropriator in question has indicated he "paid" someone else for these stories and if that's the case, he's still at least abetting a plagiarist. Nonetheless, it has been done.
I post here, and I'll be posting in a couple of other places, because this goes beyond an individual's character preference, their 'ship preference, or even their fandom preference. It's just bad business to take someone else's words without giving them credit (which is what disclaimers are FOR on our stories). The point of fanfic is to enjoy something with a tip of the hat to the entities what originally created it - we can bitch about Disney or T&T all we like, but when I sit down to write a fanfic, I at least credit the parent studio because without them, we wouldn't have it to write about. |
