| Michael at Creation Con in Vancouver |
[Apr. 10th, 2009|10:33 am] |
Michael Shanks was at the Creation Con in Vancouver for Stargate this past weekend, but he did mention the status of Rage of Angels. This quote is from the transcript put together at MSOL:
Michael Shanks: Every time I've talked about Rage of Angels, this project Christopher and I are helping with developing – he wrote it but it's been in development – that I'm attached to is the best way to put it. Um... every time I make any kind of a public announcement about it, it always seems to go away or change or whatever. So I've just chosen to not talk about Rage of Angels anymore and wait to see what happens with it. We have a 'hope for the best' with it. It's in the hands of... last I heard it was in the hands of Direct TV and Starz Media for a two hour backdoor pilot. Ah... that's all I know. |

| Possible Q&A with CJ Coming Soon |
[Feb. 13th, 2009|10:39 pm] |
Stargate consulting producer Joe Mallozzi mentioned that he'll be gathering questions for Christopher Judge soon on his weblog to present to Judge over lunch sometime in the coming weeks:
I walked into the office today to discover a surprise guest awaiting me in Carl’s office: none other than Christopher Judge. We, of course, talked college football, t.v., and acting, and I asked when he was going to drop by and do his own Q&A on this blog. I explained how it worked: I’d gather fan questions, email them his way, then he could answer as many (or as few) as he wished, send them back my way… “This sounds way too complicated,”he interrupted. “How about you take me to lunch, ask me the questions, and I’ll answer them.” Done and done. I’ll reconnect with Chris and find out an appropriate week, and then I’ll start the ball rolling.
Maybe we'll hear about Rage of Angels. I'll try to keep you updated on when Mallozzi opens the floor to questions. |

| Back to being a backdoor pilot |
[Dec. 23rd, 2008|01:24 pm] |
According to Michael Shanks at the recent Lightspeed Fine Art Charity Event held December 6 and 7, Rage of Angels will be shot this summer as a backdoor pilot. See a brief report about his and Christopher Judge's appearances AT THIS LINK.
Additionally, Solutions Blog has a bit more information about Judge's current project with Kevin Sorbo, Paradox. That article contains links to more detailed articles about the project that is currently filming in British Columbia. |

| TV Guide Interview with MS |
[Sep. 26th, 2008|07:39 pm] |
http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TV-Show-Blog/Tv-Previews/Stargate-Atlantis-Michael/800047483
TV Guide: What's happening with Rage of Angels, the sci-fi series you're developing with Stargate buddy Chris Judge?
Shanks: I'm told a very prominent show runner has attached himself to it and they're working out the details of his contract. That should fast track it to production, hopefully next year.
TV Guide: Don't you play the ultimate Big Baddie?
Shanks: Yes. I play Lucifer. In the first draft at least, things were playing out very dark and somewhat violent. Lucifer will make Victor look like a schoolboy.
TV Guide: If you're the fallen angel, who is Chris?
Shanks: Chris will be the Archangel Gabriel. And if that's not counter casting, I don't know what is. But he's going to be more of an anti-hero type of Gabriel. There's a lot in common between Gabriel and Lucifer that we'll see. |

| Michael Shanks in Gateworld Interview |
[Sep. 26th, 2008|10:11 am] |
This interview was conducted at the end of August 2008:
GW: How are things proceeding with Rage of Angels? Any new updates?
MS: I don't want to comment on it. I'll leave it for Chris [Judge] to comment on. There's been a really, really positive development. He's in Vancouver and in Los Angeles working with someone right now in terms of developing the series even more. There's a show runner, that once his contract is done, we'll be able to announce that we can do it.
It's all progressing. I'm always very conservative about it, but it's moving in the right direction. There was a period a couple of months ago where I thought this was going to be in development hell forever. And it seems to be moving forward in a very positive way. So I look forward [to] the ability to speak more frankly [Laughter], and less cryptically in the future.
GW: Are there any other upcoming projects that we can look forward to seeing you in?
MS: No, I'm going back to Miami in about two weeks to finish up the season of Burn Notice. And like every other actor, [I've] been up auditioning for stuff, and getting really close to a lot of things. But there's no points for second-best in our business -- for second place, I should say -- I shouldn't say second best. So, we just carry on and get back in the mix. There's always something. There's always something lurking around.
This part appears at the end of the interview on Page 2 of "New Voyages". |

| A little bit more info |
[Sep. 12th, 2008|06:04 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | bouncy | ] | I had this come up on a Google alert today. It's from someone else's lj, so I hope it's okay to post what he found. It's Chris talking:
"Well, it's, one of the great things about Stargate is the family environment, you can really sit with your kids and watch it. Rage of Angels, you probably won't want to watch with your kids. It's very dark, and I play the Archangel Gabriel who comes to Earth, and as we know, he's the Wrath of God, so he's divined by God to be a serial killer. And there's varying shades of grey concerning who is good and who is evil and what is good and what is evil truly. And we will very much leave it up to the audience to decide that for themselves, I mean, we're not going to try to make any judgments for the audience, it definitely something that will definitely vary from individual to individual."
And Shanks said: "Chris's character is basically Gabriel, who has come to Earth find the angel Michael, who has disappeared. And he's basically fed up with the rules of heaven preventing interaction on any level. He casts away the rules of heaven and decides to go look for Michael, and in the process hunt down whatever Lucifer brings to the table."
The poster doesn't say where he got the quotes from. His lj is here - http://jnr90.livejournal.com/51057.html
Gabriel the Serial Killer. Hee!

[Aug. 14th, 2008|01:44 pm] |
From an interview with MS (http://www.zap2it.com/tv/news/zap-story-michaelshanks-burnnotice,0,595017.story)
he has this to say about ROA:
According to Shanks, development continues on "Rage of Angels," a TV-series project he's working on with "SG-1" co-star Christopher Judge. The fantasy pilot casts Judge as the angel Gabriel, with Shanks as Lucifer.
"It looks like a great, well-respected show-runner has come on board and is working on a seven-year plan for it," Shanks says. "I get all of my information from Christopher, so I have to take everything with a boulder of salt." |

[Aug. 3rd, 2008|04:29 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | calm | ] | I was thinking of starting a Wiki page for Rage of Angels, but thought that it might be better to wait until the darn thing actually starts filming, or maybe after it's wrapped. I'd hate to make one and then have it taken down because the show is still in way pre-production. Maybe once it seems more solid, we can make it a group effort to put the page up. :) |

| Christopher Judge in play.com Video Interview |
[Aug. 3rd, 2008|11:21 am] |
Visit play.com's Continuum page for a video interview with Christopher Judge taken in London, possibly to coincide with his appearance at the Chevron 7 convention held June 13-15. Not only does he talk about Stargate and Teal'c, but he also said a little something about Rage (forgive my transcription newbieness):
Well, one of the great things about Stargate is the family environment; you can really sit with your kids and watch it. Rage of Angels: [small laugh] You probably won't want to watch with your kids. It's very dark. I play the Archangel Gabriel, who comes to Earth, and as we know, he is "the Wrath of God", so he is divined by God to basically be a serial killer. There's varying shades of gray concerning who's good and who's evil and what is good and what is evil truly. We will very much leave it up to the audience to decide that for themselves. We're not gonna try to make any judgments for the audience; it's definitely something that will definitely vary from individual to individual.
Judge also credits Brad Wright for giving him his writing break. |

| CJ Community |
[Jul. 28th, 2008|07:43 pm] |
I started a new community for Unofficially and Unequivocally Christopher Judge, called cjudge_online.
It will mainly be a place where I'll post a recap of the UoUCJ updates, and a place for those who find out anything about CJ to post it, and for us to talk about his projects in general.
Come, join, post! :)
I've also revamped the UoUCJ site and given it new urls, christopherjudgeonline.com and christopherjudgeonline.net.

| [ | mood |
| | ecstatic | ] | Chris mentioned Rage of Angels at this year's Comic-Con Stargate Continuum panel. Towards the end of the video below he says, "And uh, yes we are uh, still working on uh, Rage and uh there will be a I would say fairly substantial announcement within the next few weeks." This panel was on Friday July 25, 2008. So keep your eyes open for any announcement coming from them!

| Christopher Judge at Reunion Stellaire |
[Jun. 30th, 2008|06:57 am] |
Christopher Judge appeared at this convention this past weekend (Michael Shanks and Lexa Doig had to cancel, perhaps due to Michael's new recurring role on Burn Notice).
Judge answered a question about Rage and his answer is posted at AlloCiné website.
In French:
Question de michaelmichaud : "Pouvez-vous nous donner des infos toutes fraîches sur votre nouveau projet avec Michael Shanks ?"
Christopher Judge : Bien sûr ! Cela s'appelle Rage of Angels.
Forgive my use of the Google Translator for the English version of this:
Asked by michaelmichaud: "Can you give us all fresh info on your new project with Michael Shanks?"
Christopher Judge: Of course! This is called Rage of Angels. Michael Shanks (who plays Daniel Jackson in Stargate SG-1) will play Lucifer and I will be the Archangel Gabriel. We descend to Earth and we are fighting for domination not only of Earth but also the heavens. We should turn the pilot in October-November. But the players' strike is looming. We'll know in a few days if the movement is triggered. And if so, it could again delay the initiation of the project. It also depends on the duration of the possible strike. But in any case we are ready. It's Brad Turner, a friend, who will conduct the pilot. He won 2 Emmy Awards for his work on 24. We are very excited at the idea of working with him.
This seems to indicate that they are back to the television pilot version instead of converting the script into a screenplay for a feature film. Maybe the feature film will come later, rather than be first. I didn't explore the website much further as I'm intimidated by a site written in a language I don't understand, so if any of you are able to find more from him at this site, please share.
Lots of pictures are also available - http://allofest.blogs.allocine.fr/ - including those of Torri Higginson and Cliff Simon. |

| Shanks Comments on Feature Film's Development |
[Jun. 22nd, 2008|12:30 pm] |
In the August/September issue of the Official Stargate Magazine, Michael Shanks talked about the status of Rage of Angels. This interview was most likely conducted right after the Vancouver Creation Con (April 4-6), since Michael commented on seeing Stargate: Continuum (he saw the movie on April 6).
I guess MGM wants a re-write on it because they want to turn it into a full-blown feature, that's the last information I was given. I'm always cautious and skeptical when simple plans turn into complex ones. I'm hoping that it doesn't turn into a development palaver because these things have a way of being fun, fun, fun when they start to do that. |

| Second Part of CJ's SCI FI PI Interview |
[Jun. 18th, 2008|06:10 pm] |
SCI FI PI has posted the second part to their interview with Christopher Judge. Rage isn't talked about in this part, but the article will give you more about Judge's political views and how his fiancée has been a student of religion (it is possible that she might have influenced his story for Rage, but that isn't stated).
There is some discussion of Stargate: Continuum in the interview, so beware of possible spoilers.
Read it HERE. |

| A Little About Brad Turner |
[Jun. 18th, 2008|03:23 pm] |
Brad Turner was asked by Christopher Judge to direct Rage of Angels when they were talking about its being a television pilot. According to Judge, Turner had a very big role in helping convince MGM that the pilot could be shot with a limited budget.
I'm not sure of what Turner's role will be now that they're talking about converting the script into a screenplay, but my bet is he'll still be a producer for the project.
Anyway, here's a little article about Turner and his hometown. It doesn't address Rage, though — '24' director revisits his hometown. |

| SCI FI PI Interviews Christopher Judge |
[May. 31st, 2008|10:45 am] |
This is the first part of a multi-part interview (possibly 3 parts) that was conducted by Australia's Sci Fi Channel. Their blog is SCI FI PI:
[discussion of Judge's script for Stargate, "Birthright" ...]
As a writer, especially as a TV writer or film writer, you can't be 'married' to the work or take it personally. The whole thing, I really owe to Brad Wright. Even Rage of Angels.
We were at Martin Wood's wedding, we had gone outside for a smoke - well I was smoking - and he said, 'if this show ever ends, what are you gonna do?'. And I said 'I'd really like to star in an hour drama, not a sitcom, and have it be viable'. And he said 'you know you're going to have to write it yourself - no network is out looking for that'.
And I said 'yeah, I kinda figured that'. So the week of the 200th episode, that's when we learned we were cancelled. Four days later I had written Rage of Angels.
It's been described as 'Touched By An Angel Meets 300' - is this accurate?
It's more 'Constantine'.
'Punched By An Angel'!
(laughs) Yeah! Right! Touched by an Angel has a lot of feelgood stuff in there, Rage is pretty dark. My goal is to generally offend everyone that watches it, because that will get people talking to each other.
I think that as a people we are so sorely in need of that.
The other day I was down in Wellington at a convention and we were sitting on stage with all the writers, actors and voice people and I wanted to start to talk about politics and religion and the state of the world, and a number of people said 'oh no, you can't talk politics' and I said 'that's what's wrong with the world - no one talks politics and religion!'.
You have these islands of different cultures and beliefs that even when they get together they can't talk about their differences because that doesn't make for polite dinner conversation. Isn't it time to not be polite any more? Because polite ain't workin'! (laughs)
Rage of Angels - it's going to be (laughs) it's going to be a shit storm.
Part 1 of the interview is HERE. |
