Sara: Can we pleeeease watch an episode of Veronica Mars?
Alex: *reads the back of the DVDs*
Sara: Pleeease? Just one episode!
Alex: So, her last name is really "Mars"?
Sara: Yep, why?
Alex: Well, I'm just wondering... if she married one of Roseanne's kids, wouldn't her name be Veronica Mars-Barr?
Sara: ...
Alex: *grins*
Sara: *facepalm*

I have to deal with stuff like this every day. But in the end, it always brings a smile to my face.

-Meridith's birthday is tomorrow. She'll be a year old. Mom's not feeling well, so we're just going to stay here.
-We decided not to have the halloween party this year.
-We've got tickets for Halloween Horror nights. We also paid for the VIP passes.
-I'm hoping to get a mac sometime in the next few months.
-The new ipod nano looks pretty cool, and I like the fact that it has speech on it.
-I like the weather this time of year. I'm not sweating to death, but I'm not freezing my ass off either. :D
-Heroes is waaaaay awesome!

That's all for now guys. See ya later.

Sick Dad + Sick Boy + Sick Mom = Sick Sara. Duh.

Yes, I watched the debates. The Canadian ones, that is. I watched the Obama/McCain one in its entirety, but I didn't really bother with the Biden/Palin one. I'm kind of sick of American politics and want to focus on our own (even though ours also has to take into account the economic crisis).

French debates: The ones with the tighter grasp on the language were the strongest (Dion, Duceppe).
English debates: Layton and May were very tough and convincing, but it still won't really amount to much.

There was a Serge Chapleau (he's the best) caricature in La Presse showing Harper taking two Valiums before the debates. Hahaha. It's so true!

I'm getting really sad reading this post on [info]ontd_political. Nobody watched the Canadian debates. Come on, guys.

In other news, I've been thinking about getting makeup (omg). I barely have any and I mooch off of my mom's (which is not good, I know). Anyway, I wanted to go to a Sephora but it's all the way in Pointe-Claire! Blah. I was thinking of getting stuff from EyesLipsFace, because every single thing is $1 (!!!), but they don't have such a great colour selection. I want to play around with wacky eyeshadows...

If you're like me and you love marching bands + geeky stuff, you're gonna love this video.

It sort of reminds me of that "Nintendo" a capella medley from a couple years back.

At exactly this time last week, I was squished in between a wooden barricade and a couple hundred people behind me. You guessed it: I was at a metal concert. An Iced Earth concert to be precise, and front row centre! This was technically my second one, as I had seen Opeth in May, but it was the first time I had been centre stage, right at the edge of a mosh pit.

My position required a handful of clichés. Headbanging and rocking the horns for instance. Simply staying immobile would illicit frowns from the lead guitarist (I swear, I felt Schaffer looking down on me). It was quite an experience. I'm not quite sure if I'd like to repeat it. Sure, I'll go to another metal, punk, or rock show, but I'm not sure if I'd like to have about six people finish their crowd surfing right above me and almost kick me in the head. I got a huge bruise on my arm and Alex thought I was going to break my neck. Not a good way to start a show. I knew there would be crowd surfing, but it just caught me off guard when that first guy suddenly fell on top of me and into the space in front of the barricades. Oh well.

Another downside of the show was that we could barely hear the lead singer. And he was 3 feet away from me. It really sucked. I felt like we just got half a show. I'm convinced he wasn't able to sing properly that night and sort of blamed the mic for it.

There was a drunk guy picking fights with people in the pit and also spitting on Schaffer. Well, Scaffer, being the badass that he is, stopped playing mid-song, put down his guitar--while his bandmates looked at each other in bewilderment--and starting yelling at the guy. "Get over here you little cocksucker! Someone get that faggot out of here!" Fans proceeded to pick him up and throw him out in front of the barricade. Everyone cheered and applauded Schaffer.

Ah well. I still thoroughly enjoyed being in the front and rocking out. It's obviously totally different than being at an arena concert or a small low-tempo gig.
