| Welcome to "Quotable Muse", the challenge writing community based on various quotes from classic films. |
| The Rules |
1. Members may have two muses to start with, and if they have proven that they can stay up-to-date, may apply for a third. The mun must go through the same application process to obtain the first two muses. This is not a first-come, first-serve writing comm. We expect excellence from our writers.
2. Prompts will be posted in the community once a week, and every member is required to reply to one out of every two prompts. If a hiatus is needed, please contact the mods to ensure that your muse is not given to someone else due to lack of participation.
3. If a muse does not post a response for two weeks, a warning will be given via email. If the muse does not post the subsequent week, that muse will be removed from the community and made open to application or offered to the first waitlisted request.
4. This is not an RP-community. If you wish to RP, it is encouraged, but not required. If there are issues regarding harrassment that violate LJ's Terms of Service, we will step in. Other issues such as flaming or other abuse will not be tolerated, whether it is posting in the prompt community, the fen community or the muse journal itself.
5. Muses from any fandom will be accepted except for the following: multiple versions of the same muse (if someone is writing as Bruce Wayne from "Batman Begins", then the comicverse version of the muse cannot be picked up by anyone), RPF (real-person fiction), certain literary muses (authors such as Anne Rice or Anne Bishop will not allow RP due to copyright issues), or original characters that appear to be of the Mary Sue/Gary Stu variety.
6. All members must be at least 18 years old to join, due to the possibility of NC-17 rated prompt responses.
7. All ficlets must be at least 200 words long. There is no limit to how long a prompt reply can be, however. Anything over 450 words must be put under an LJ-cut. Members who post under the 200 word minimum will be removed.
8. Prompts in which dialogue is written for another character for which QM currently has an active muse must carry a disclaimer indicating whether the prompt refers to no muse in particular or to a specific muse or muses.
9. Waitlists are maintained for all muses, and current members can also ask to be put on the waitlist for one. If that muse becomes available, then the member will be contacted and a sample post of the most current prompt will be required before that member is given the muse.
10. The mods reserve the right to ban or deny an application for any reason if they feel it would be detrimental to the community for that person to join. They also reserve the right to remove any muse(s) and/or muns for any reason if they feel their presence has become detrimental to the community.
11. When posting your prompt answer, it can be in any format (first person, third person ficlet, etc.), but it must be cross-posted to both the main community and the muse journal. The use of tags or memories to keep track of posts is highly encouraged as well. All answers must include the name of the muse, the fandom, and the word count so the mods can keep track. If there are spoilers for a current TV show, a newly-released film, or a new comic book, the reply must be put under a cut when posted in the main community. |
