21st-Jun-2009 01:30 pm - Nail Salon Recomendations
Hello All,
I am looking for a salon in the Quincy/Braintree area (i have a car, so it doesnt need to be near the red line). I need to get a pedicure and a manicure with acrylic tips put on, and i want a french style polish. I need to go Thursday morning. Does anyone know of any good, decently priced salons? Also, a name of a stylist would be good too.

Thanks!

Was anyone around the N. Quincy station between 12:30 and 1:30 this morning? The tracks run behind my apartment and there was some weird work being done on the commuter rail tracks.
20th-Mar-2009 03:56 pm - dentist recommendations
faraday & sawyer.
hello quincy!

i've lived in quincy for the majority of my life, but i really don't know where i should go to the dentist. i've gone to wolly dental, but i have never been a huge fan. i don't care to go there again. i hate the denist more than anything in the world (no joke) and i'm looking for a place that i will feel comfortable at. i am looking for general dentistry because it's been a while.. but i have been thinking about getting braces for the past like 8 years or something.. so orthodontists recommendations are very welcome as well.

i'm posting here because i though personal recommendations would be best.. going through my health insurance website is overwhelming and ugly.

sorry if this type of post is not ok in this community, i just joined and only skimmed the rules.

oh yeah, i know this is the quincy lj, but i'm not opposed to going to a dentist in braintree or milton.. or even weymouth.

thanks in advance, and if this is not ok please feel free to delete. (i'm a bit paranoid since the b0st0n lj community is so snarky)
16th-Mar-2009 04:55 pm - 2 part question
coffee
This is a 2-parter:

1) I know the Quincy Center T stop has overnight parking, but I was wondering if there was a limit on when you could get in? I have an early flight on Friday morning, and am taking a cab from Quincy Center, but some friends need a place to park, and we need to leave Quincy ~4:30am (ie, before the trains and buses start running).

2) There's a cab stand behind the T station, but again, I doubt cabs will be there at 4:30am...anyone know for sure?

Thanks in advance! I tried Googling, but could only find rate info...
4th-Mar-2009 09:09 pm - Rent [info]cathijosephine’s condo in Quincy Center!
Local: I-93 South to Quincy
Howdy! [info]cathijosephine, who is currently living with me, is looking for somebody to rent her Quincy Center studio. Her Craigslist ad (with photos) is at http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/abo/1058139649.html, and here’s the text, since it’s short:
$1000 Furnished Studio on Red Line Available Immediately (Quincy Center)
No Fees! Across the street from Quincy Center T Station. ~450 square feet, hardwood floors, 2 big walk-in closets, small dishwasher, full size loft bed and comfy pull-out couch. Heat and hot water included. Coin-op laundry in building. 2 blocks to supermarket and drugstore.
Short-term lease available for $1,100/month.
(I.e., it's $1,100/mo. if you want it month-to-month, or $1,000/mo. if you'll sign a longer lease so it comes back on the market at a convenient time.)

You’d be comfortable walking distance from a supermarket and a pharmacy, less than five minutes’ walk from the T station, and within ten minutes’ walk from the restaurants and shops of Quincy Center

Bigger versions of the pictures in the Craigslist ad: Bathroom, main living area with couch and loft bed, very large closet, and kitchen.

29th-Dec-2008 11:33 pm - NYE Fireworks

Are there any good places in the Quincy area to view the Boston fireworks? I'd like to see them, but I don't want to deal with the hassle of getting in and out of the city. Thanks.
12th-Nov-2008 10:31 am - Quarry museum?
bright tree
does anyone here have knowledge about the proposed quarry museum? there's a newspaper article in the Ledger.

i ADORE living history museums, but i'm concerned about the note of in-fighting mentioned in the article.

i might be interested in getting involved, but i don't want to waste my time - it is scarce and precious (it's MY time, you know?).

tks!
