About
Welcome to Query Project.

Query Project is a source for constructive criticism on the query letter you send to agent or publisher. We will not tell you how to write your query letter. For advice on putting together a query letter check the original query project put together by jpsorrow and assorted successful friends. THEY know what a successful query letter needs to contain. What we offer is a friendly and yet critical eye for your finished letter - Is he meant to be dating his sister?; You're highlighting the fact he's a baker but I think his status as a zombie love machine might be where you should focus; You repeated yourself in the first and second paragraph.

Basically? We'll read your letter and tell you if it makes sense to us. Nothing more and nothing less.

Most of us are writers ourselves and we have all experience the nightsweats, the twitches and the uncontrollable voiding of bodily fluids at the idea of writing a query letter. So we have sympathy, and we hope to make it a little easier on ourselves too over time.

Community Rules.

1 - Don't repost anything in the community on your own LJ or on any LJ communities. This is an instant-ban offense. If we can't identify the transgressor because they've used a sock - we will close and lock down the community.

2 - We want constructive criticism, not abuse. The purpose of this community isn't to make anyone feel small. That said, this isn't a community where you can only say nice things about people's work. Be specific about what you think is wrong with the query letter and how they can fix it. Personal or professional insults will not be tolerated.

3 - Every post goes behind an LJ cut with the title and genre of the work. ie: Artificer, Fantasy.

4 - Tag your entries with your name, the title of your work and its genre. If you repost an amended query letter then find and link to the original.

5 - There are no content warnings on this community.

6 - Everyone in the community is expected to comment and review entries. If there is not a reasonable number of members commenting then the mods will close the community after discussion about what to do with the exisiting query letter posts - delete, leave up, delete after giving everyone time to copy their own.

7 - Only five queries will be posted a day, along with a mod-post linking to them. This to avoid the community getting overwhelmed and some entries missing the chance for a critique.

8 - Good luck out there.
