GameStop Position

Hi again Flagstaffians, I wanted to give everyone a follow up on the GameStop position. A lot of people emailed me saying they were interested in a part time job. Some of them I was able to reply to, and some of them I haven't yet responded to. Sorry to those of you who haven't received a reply from me yet! I was avoiding the internet because I was afraid of Harry Potter spoilers. But, I'm not afraid anymore and ready to reply to your emails, which I'll be doing shortly.

In the mean time, I want to say that I'm going to be holding a group interview this Monday at 3:30PM. If you are interested in a part time position, please show up! I still need to hire a few more people and I'd love to meet you. Even if you don't receive an email from me, you are still welcome to come! I'll have applications there which you can fill out on the spot and I will be asking everyone questions in a very comfortable group setting.

The interview will be at the Flagstaff Mall at 3:30 this Monday. Meet at the GameStop in the Flagstaff Mall. Again we are hiring for the store that will be opening in the Wal-Mart parking lot, but we are meeting at the GameStop in the Flagstaff Mall. I stress this because I've had a couple of people show up for interviews at the new location accidentally. =)

Please arrive 15 minutes early (at 3:15) so that everyone is there on time. Also, please send me at email (furkitfox at gmail dot com) and let me know you'll be coming so that I know how many people to expect. And lastly, if you can't make it to this group interview but you are still interested in a job, email me to let me know and I can try and set something up at a later time with you.

Thanks everybody,
Stephen
GameStop

Good morning!

So tomorrow, 7:30pm in Havasupai A & B, we will hold the last PRISM meeting of the 2006-2007 year and we're going to be discussing a couple of big issues. Namely, the future of PRISM.

As per the PRISM constitution, the PRISM president for the 07-08 year will be elected tomorrow, and nominations can begin for all other e-board positions for next fall and spring. Elections for other executive board positions will not be made until the start of the spring semester, but that gives you the summer to mull it over.

We're also going to be looking at some ideas for next fall and spring and begin deciding in what direction we want to take this amazing, advocacy, social, and outreach organization next year, and in the years to come.

I look forward to seeing all of you there tomorrow night!

REMINDER: DRAG SHOW THIS THURSDAY, APRIL 26.
NATIONAL DAY OF SILENCE AND PRIDE MARCH TODAY

PRIDE MARCH AND NATIONAL DAY OF SILENCE:
National Day of Silence--
When: APRIL 18 (TODAY)--Demonstration on the pedway starts at approx 10am
--Signs declaring your purpose in staying silent today are availalbe outside the PRISM office, Rm 203 upstairs in the university union.

WHAT: a day long event sponsored and promoted by YOU and your GLBTQ community members. For those of you that are out--to your friends, family, co-workers--you understand the kind of freedom that you have that allows you to be out; to be yourself. At the same time, there are hundreds of thousands of GLBTQ individuals worldwide that are not able to be out, to express affection with their partner or even have a partner openly usually because they are afraid of physical harm or social ostracizing. National Day of Silence is an event where individuals like you stay silent for a day, or even a few hours, in an open way (usually though wearing a pinned-on sign sign that states their purpose) to raise awareness of the hate and fear that afflicts GLBTQ individuals daily. You would be giving up your voice in order to spread awareness in the hopes that one day no one will have to stay silent out of fear again.
To pick up a Day of Silence Statement Sign: Stop by the PRISM office or contact stephaniearendt@nau.edu and we will send you a sign to print and wear proudly for the day/a few hours.
To learn more about the history of NDOS and it's purpose, contact prism@nau.edu .

PRIDE MARCH:
When: APRIL 18
Where: Meet outside the University Union by the Amphitheatre at 5pm.
Why: PRIDE needs no reason ;-D. This PRIDE MARCH is a continuation of PRISMs Proud Out Loud events for April, and is held in April so that all members of the GLBTQ community have a greater opportunity to get involved (during Pride in the Pines many student members of the GLBTQ community are not in town, and so miss out on this important community event). The march will kick off with a couple of speakers and a musician or two, and then proceed through the pedway to downtown and the park. THIS EVENT IS THE "BREAKING OF THE SILENCE" EVENT, which means that we will end the National Day of Silence with as much noise and visibility as possible. This is a Pride march, so dress Proud Out Loud (but no nudity, please) and bring noisemakers, pots, pans what have you for the Breaking of the Silence!
We will be going at a slow walking pace, so strollers are more than welcome.
For more information and to get involved, contact PRISM@nau.edu

PRISM UPDATE

PRISM--NAUs Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersexed and Allies organization--meets every Wednesday, at 7:30pm, in Havasupai A7B (upstairs in the University Union). Want more info? Call us at (928) 523 7110 or send us an e-mail at prism@nau.edu
I realize many of you are unable to attend our general meetings, but here's an update of some of the things we have going on in the coming months.

During March (because of Spring Break) we're mostly going to be planning for the Drag Show and the PRIDE March.
Our town doesn't have a PRIDE March currently, so let's make this a first. Talk to us about getting involved in making banners, flyering, or--if you're interested, have good public speaking skills, and feel you can talk about the importance of visibility, community, and PRIDE among the GLBTQQIA community--being a speaker/performer at the end of the march rally (spoken word/slam poetry is also acceptable). This is your town and your community, and this semester we're all about being Proud Out Loud, so stop on by and get involved!

Second Annual Drag Show : Drag Troupe 'Barely Legal's' farewell show! Features live performances of local kings and queens strutting their stuff on the stage-- April 5th. Location: TBA. Contact PRISM or reply to this e-mail for more information.

National Day of Silence and PRIDE March: Over a decade of staying silent so that others won't have to, by promoting awareness and visibility. Join us at the end of the day for a community-wide "Breaking of the Silence" with a PRIDE March through town, followed by speakers. Get to know one-another, and share in the spirit of Unity Through Diversity. This will be a walking march, so bring good shoes--strollers welcome (we'll be moving at a comfortable pace). Remember: This is a PRIDE March, so let your colours shine! Those pink spandex leggings and rainbow suspenders you found at Savers that you've been dying to wear? This will be your chance! This is about VISIBILITY--the more visible you are, the better.*
*SIDE NOTE: No nudity, and you may want to take the weather into consideration when choosing your ensemble.
Location: Meet on Campus, evening of April 18, 2007.
Hi everyone!

This Wednesday evening before heading out to Ladies '80s, doing homework, or surfing Myspace for a couple of hours, why not head on over to a PRISM meeting?

PRISM is NAUs Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersexed, and Allies organization, and we meet every Wednesday at 7:30pm, in Havasupai A & B (upstairs in the University Union).

This Wednesday we are hosting a Sex Toy Party (like a Tupperware Party, only better) and discussing hosting a PRIDE March.

So stop on by!

If you have any other questions, concerns, or just something you want to talk to a PRISM member about--someone who's been there perhaps, and knows what you may be going though, whether it's coming out, roommate problems, identity issues--stop by our office. Our office is also located upstairs in the the University Union, so drop in any time. If there's no one in the office when you stop by, just leave a message on our board, and we'll get right back to you.

PRISM FUNDRAISER TOMORROW

Good afternoon, everyone!

Now, I know you're thinking, "wait, PRISM is over for the semester"
You're right; it is.

BUT
Here's your chance to help earn your favourite club some extra spending money.

Tomorrow, from 7:30am-5pm (approximately) ASWI will be selling commencement flowers outside of the Sky Dome for students graduating this semester. And they've invited PRISM members to help out again his year, and in return PRISM will receive a portion of the profits.

Just think: with this money we could buy our VP some new magic cards, new pillows for the couches, our secretary could afford to give her youngest braces.
Or we could use the money for GLBTQQIA advocacy work, y'know.

SO: IF YOU ARE INTERESTED
Please contact Jasmine at (623) 210 1633 to set up a ride/other details.
OR simply meet Jasmine and the other PRISM and ASWI members at 7:30am by the giant Lumberjack statue on South (by the Dome).

This event does run 7:30am-5pm, BUT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE THERE THE WHOLE TIME. Call Jasmine so that you can find the booths if you're going to be there after 7:30am, and check in with Kaelen/Jasmine when you get there.

Thank you so much again for a fantastic semester!
-Stephanie Arendt

Meeting:7:30pm in Havasupai A & B (upstairs in the University Union).

We have a lot of great (and important) issues to go over tonight:

1. TRANSGENDER DAY OF REMEMBRANCE
2. GENDER PANEL--covering everything from pronouns to 'passing'
3. JERUSALEM PRIDE: Information and writing letters of support.

I know that a lot of us, especially living in Flagstaff, don't experience queerphobia to the extent that many other out GLBTQQIA individuals do, and it seems as though with the recent statewide block on PROP 107 that we are gaining ground as a movement.
But keep in mind that stopping PROP 107 didn't give us anything we don't already have; just prevented us from losing rights we already have.

We have a long way to go (as the events in Jerusalem have shown us)--your heart is the size of your fist: keep loving, keep fighting.
