The series has been renamed from the Adventures of Psychotix to: Psychotix and Texus.

This is to celebrate their married togetherness in an age when barriers to gay relationships are falling all over the world. Who would have thought that Delhi, India would throw off the final shackles of British Colonialism to recognize that gay relationships are a fact and should not be restricted anymore?

When the series was created in 1998, Canada had not yet allowed gays to legally marry. Nor did any of the states in the U.S.

Some of the major characters in the series:

Caligula

Gaius "Caligula" certainly was erratic and did some really deranged and crazy stuff. He defiled a wedding couple, forced his Senators to put their wives in brothels to raise money for Rome. Had weird fetishes for horses, hated goats, hated his hairy body and sometimes executed a Senator for things such as being too well dressed for his tastes. Or sitting above him. he later thought he was a God and had his horse named a Senator.

He's a guy who would have benefited from Prozac for sure. But was it being completely crazy in a schizoid manner--or a sociopath who was indulged to the full all of his life so he grew up thinking that he could simply get away with anything? So that when he became Emperor, he didn't have any restraint. Which he didn't. He spent Rome into a hole that would have made Bernie Madoff look like a lemonade stand scammer.

His relationship with Emperor Tiberius was not a keen one. Tiberius hated him. He lost no opportunity to take swipes at his character. He tolerated him when they had their orgies together. The idea that Rome was nothing but one long orgy starts from Emperor Tiberius and Caligula's time.

This is what the Medieval Christians' final verdict was for all of Rome for all the history of Rome.

It's unfair, because only some of the Emperors indulged in orgies. They started with Tiberius and ended with Nero. There were some others that briefly were corrupt partyers but Nero was the last of the great partyers that were able to get away with it for years.

After Nero, the Praetorian Guard found out that they could be kingmakers, and bad Emperors tended not to last very long after Nero was forced to commit suicide, Tiberius died under suspicious circumstances and Caligula was cut down after 4 short years.

But I digress.

Caligula in Psychotix & Texus is presented as a sociopathic spoiled brat drifting around the palace while Tiberius backhands him in his usual sarcastic manner. Tiberius knows Caligula is young, deranged and incompetent, (he's only 19 at this time) but he doesn't care because he's an old man and knows he's going to die soon and then all his troubles will be over and Rome gets Caligula as its just reward. Tiberius hates Rome and Rome hates Tiberius.

Tiberius does not attempt to teach Caligula how to govern but secretly teaches Claudius, the third player in Rome and who is going to be discoursed in tomorrow's blog.

If there is one thing that all of us at Landwaster Media have in common is that none of us were fans of the policies of George W. Bush. We hated how civil rights took a back seat to the desire for corporate deregulation and militarism. One of the most odious results of the steady tampering with human rights was the emboldened religious right and the attempts to ban gay marriage. It never occurs to these religious nutjobs that the rights they take away today can apply to them tomorrow, once the country is in the business of taking away human rights.

When The Adventures of Psychotix first came out in 1999, Bill Clinton was president then. Even so, at conventions gay men, the primary readership of the series, came to the table silently and made their purchase quickly, as if they were getting some sneaky business done. Psychotix is sexxy, but not pornography. (There's too much story for it to be pornography.) When Bush came into power, it's like all the life was sucked out of gay men. Nearly all 0f the sales were at bookstores and on-line, as they tended to stay home.

Now with Maine becoming the sixth place in the U.S. to legalize gay marriage (Don't forget the District of Columbia), our hope is that more gay men will proudly come out to the comic conventions and boldly buy the graphic novels and dare anybody to say anything about it!

Psychotix. What a little fireball he is. He works hard, parties hard and loves with all his heart. His love is an all-encompassing, enveloping love. He must throw himself completely emotionally and bodily into his marriage with Texus. His love for him almost completely insulates him from the disapproval of the villagers. If not for one enemy: Retrogressix. This fat old bastard, however has 7 sons in the village and none dare to cross him, much to Psychotix's eternal irritation. This rigid, right wing nutjob just can't leave him alone. He wants the throne to himself. The chief has designated Psychotix his rightful successor. After all, Chief Vitriolix is doing things the Roman way: adopting Psychotix as his son and choosing him as next of kin for the throne.

Retrogressix, as the next youngest brother to the chief, thinks the throne and all rights therin should naturally go to him. What is the chief's problem?

Maybe the fact that he's an intolerable asshole might have something to do with it? (He even looks sort of like Jerry Fallwell, though don't quote me on that.)

Life would be less than bearable if but the fact that many of Retrogressix's grandsons are a cool bunch who support Psychotix and also are gay.

Still, life would be easier without Retrogressix and his built-in yes-men running around the village spying on him.

But where would the fun be in that?

Come on, is the Religious Right this intellectually and morally bankrupt that they have to put out this Gathering Storm commercial?

They lost the abortion debate, the Creationist debate is receding in favor of common sense. But they always have to have a wedge issue. So the best they can come up with is this, a misinformed video. But this retort is one of the best I have seen. They juxtapose the most absurd points in the Gathering Storm video, sponsored by the National Organization For Marriage, and the response to those points:



There are several good retorts to the Gathering Storm video, but this one is one of the most delicious, sane, rational and intelligent.

I have been angered by the Religious Right, I have been enraged by the Religious Right, I have felt threatened by the Religious Right. But now I am embarrassed by the Religious Right.

Their moral authority is completely exhausted, dudes. Their arguments are petering out and becoming really feeble and dreary.

If they really think that an attack on a minority population who has done nothing to harm them is the answer to their prayers, then they are in for unanswered prayers.

It's now going to be called "Operation Nutjob"

Very apropos for this day and age and certainly as hell for Emperor Tiberius's time.

I am proud of this book. It's the nicest in the series, the art is the best ever and the story is PUMPED! Sexy as hell! Way to go, Kerry Griswold!!
All of the usual suspects are included including Emperor Tiberius, Caligula and Claudius.

Psychotix and Texus are still on their honeymoon, as far as they are concerned, so they are continuously borrowing Gothix's house for their trysts. Meanwhile wannabe chief Retrogressix can't accept that Texus is here for love and he thinks their marriage is a sham. He is conducting his own investigation into their marriage, to everybody's annoyance, including his own sons.

On the Island of Capreae, Emperor Tiberius has just discovered a conspiracy against his life and is lining up men to help get rid of the conspirators. Because Texus once worked for the Emperor, this has inadvertently lined up Psychotix as one of the men to help him.

Oops. ooh. This situation is about to explode like greek lightning on a keg of pure grain alcohol.

The book: The Adventures of Psychotix: Stubborn Old Nitwit is going to be out early 2008. We dropped the "book three" from the title because when you list these things on websites and talk about them on journals, it gets damn long.

Griswold is well into working on the Fourth (or Fifth if you count Texus Separatus) book: The Adventures of Psychotix: Tiberius's Long Shadow.

But as the publisher of the book it is my duty and pleasure to keep you informed of what is going on here. And the purpose of this sight is to announce the progress of the books.

I am a firm believer in keeping the personal and private separate. Our journals are for our personal stuff and I don't like to mix the personal with business especially since the personal on both our sites tend to be rants.

I will say this, though. I support gay rights. Not just because I have a gay son and publish a gay author but I am for full human rights and I hate the Religious Right and all they stand for. Which is oppression, exclusion and greed. Oh yes, the surface message is love and forgiveness. For whom? And how much do you have to pay to get them to pray?

Okay, that is a taste of my own ranting. Griswold and I met nearly 18 years ago because we had common interests, one of the main ones being a complete loathing of xtianity.

He contacted me because of that issue and other similar tastes, including oddball tastes in music and directors. And thus began a friendship that was sturdy and strong before I agreed to publish the series.
So here's to 2008 and hopefully three books coming out.
