Okay folks let's put a stop to this once and for all, please.
Yes, Kestrel has joined the cast of Something Positive. Yes, I knew about it - goodness do you really think Randy would just gank my character without my permission? He had full permission from the moment that I ended the strip to use my character however he'd like and I gave him full license to do so. Queen of Wands is over, Kestrel is no longer someone that I am writing - however due to the crossovers working out so well and the ending being written the way it was, I figured that if Randy wanted to use Kestrel in the future it was a-okay with me.
In all of the commentary I have mentioned this several times, but I will mention it again here - when we did crossovers, I was writing the majority of Kestrel's dialogue, and Randy was writing the majority of Davan's. We always, always ALWAYS ran dialogue by each other before we ran it in the strip, so saying that either one of us doesn't know how to write the other's characters is retarded - it wasn't Randy writing Kestrel and it wasn't me writing Davan for the majority of it. THAT SAID - YES, that is Kestrel, Queen of Wands Kestrel, my character, in his strip. Randy will be writing her dialogue and using her for storylines on a minimal basis, that's why she's 'supporting cast'. S*P will not and will never be the 'LOL KESTREL SHOW'. It may not look like the Kestrel you know, she may change a little, but the character is going from one strip to another, of COURSE she's going to be a little different, it's a different writer, not to mention almost a year has gone by since you've seen her last. THAT SAID - Randy is nothing short of an amazing writer, and I have no doubts in my mind that he will write Kestrel as genuinely and true to my original character as possible. He and I talked a lot during the course of my strip's run, and we still talk, often. Not only does he know my characters just as well as I do, he knows *ME* well, and he knows what I would and would not do with my characters. I told him it was not necessary to run story ideas involving her by me, but he insisted, so all storylines involving Kestrel will have my stamp of approval. Period.
You do not have to read S*P. There is no one saying you have to read S*P. Queen of Wands was and is a complete story with an ending, and you can leave it there if you like. HOWEVER, for those interested in the further adventures of Kestrel and what the hell she is up to, she will be appearing occasionally in S*P and you can catch up with her there. That's all, that's it, end of story, like it or don't like it, whichever, but as far as I am concerned she is Randy's now, and in very, very capable hands.
And for the moron that wrote an incoherent badly-spelled email to Randy telling him you were a lawyer and going to sue him 'on my behalf': You are an idiot. Jesus.
Please stop the hate mail to Randy, immediately, and while you're at it cut it out on my end too, okay? This was a decision I made when the strip ended, it's an interesting thing that hasn't really been done much in webcomics before, and should serve as a unique sort of writer's challenge to Randy. I expect him to handle it admirably, as always.
Thank you.
