I don't know whether this is jinxing myself to have an unfortunate and slightly humiliating accident soon, but the plan is to make a new questions post in the next couple of days. If I can think of any questions to the tune of D...

So, get your thinking caps and your clever boots on, and start thinking devious and hopelessly cryptic thoughts!

Unless no-one wants to play any more? *pathetic yet adorable hopeful puppy dog face*

Ooh lordy lordy! Only 5 days late... well that's nothing. I've caught trains later than that.

1. Why is it revealing that James Bond loves Sony?

2. When is a chocolate not a chocolate?

3. Why might House want an Enema kit for fun?

4. Can you walk on pie-crusts? (more to the point, if you think you know the answer - why would you want to?)

5. Why do we all love this cute lil thing?

Real life will be interrupting this show for a bit - I'm a-movin' house! Yipee! I'm moving out of halls into a nice house with proper friends and the smallest bedroom I have ever seen! I spent a large portion of yesterday elbow deep in Cilit Bang (thank you Barry Scott) scratching black spots off the hob with one of those corn-on-the-cob skewers. It looks shiny now! I love cleaning... so relaxing. Now I'm off to pack up my life - wish me luck!

C.02 - Clues
My most profound and semi-sincere apologies (again) for all the delays... Here are the clues for this week's unanswered questions. They're only up for a today and I'll post the answers tomorrow so we can get started on D...

1. Why is it revealing that James Bond loves Sony?
Clue - It involves gadgets... of the camcorder variety!

5. Why do we all love this cute lil thing?

Clue - the script is cuneiform. We're looking for the name of this symbol. It's not a horse, sorry!

At long last that elusive beast, the question post, has arrived. This week courtesy in part to our shiny new mod-shaped thing [info]parabuzzle. *waves in a greeting and welcoming-type way*

My apologies [apple-ogeys, of course] for being rubbish and for posting mid-week. If you weren't here for the original posting today, then please contribute anyway. The questions are very rarely all answered straight away!

So, on with the show:

And this week we are giving out 20, yes twenty [info]qi_lj points, for the best buzzer noise...

ALAN ANSWERS have been cancelled this week because the questions have too much potential!

At last! I come bearing answers... I lost the piece of paper I'd used, and then when I found it I remembered that I'd written shopping lists on it, used it as a paint pallette and torn sections off it.... So I was off to a good start!

Answer? )

2. Why was water illegal in 1770?

Answer? )

4. When is a linguist like an ape?
Answer? )

5. How does having a drink help one's diction?

Yet again, apologies for my crappness, new questions will be posted ASAP. Thanks for playing!

New Mod

Hello lovely people!

For those of you in the UK, I hope you're enjoying the sunshine. I myself have had a tub of Ben and Jerrys and a Twister in the last two days. Hurrah!

For those of you not in the UK, I hope you have sun and that you're eating ice cream.

This is an exciting-type post, and not a new questions post (sorry!).

We are on the lookout for a new mod to help with the running of [info]qi_lj.  This is for several reasons, which we hope you will consider before applying. (I feel like a big company leaving an advert in the Times!)

 - Running this show takes a lot of time, and we are not always able to post questions as often as we'd like.  If you're thinking of asking, please make sure you're willing to put in the time and dedication because we believe this community is worth it!
 - If the spare time you have is over the weekend, then that'd be great, because we need someone logged in when the posts are made to cope with the influx of comments!
 - As you may have noticed, our areas of expertise are Language, Literature and History, and as such the questions are often biased. We'd really like someone with a scientific background to even it out a bit.
 - We're not doing this just to offload all the work on an unwitting minion, but a helping hand would be greatly appreciated!

So, if you want to learn Quite Interesting things first-hand, and don't mind relinquishing your right to compete with everyone else (which is sometimes hard - I want to play the game!) then we would welcome a comment on this post!

Laters amigos,

[info]katemond and [info]rastnim

C.01 - Clues

Aiieee! It's monday isn't it?! I thought so.... Oh dear, I have no new questions, but 3 of last week's have yet to be answered. So, here are some suitably cryptic yet hopefully handy hints (check me and my alliteration!) to elp you, and once they're done I'll post C.02 questions.

Revised scores will also hopefully be posted this week ;)

2.  Why was water illegal in 1770?
Water being illegal made me very bitter...

3.  How could Eddie Izzard's line "I am a canal!" be true?
Ignore the Eddie bit, he was just convenient! I'm interested in the connection between the body and canals. Little canals.

5.  How does having a drink help one's diction?
This one's actually bloody cryptic and I'm not expecting anyone to get it... But it involves cows!

Don't forget your stunning buzzers-a-hoy-hoy.

C.01 - Questions

Your questions this week come courtesy of [info]katemond, because [info]rastnim's buggered off to sunnier climes. But I'm not jealous, oh no! Of course not, I just love being in Sheffield still working... Now that's my idea of fun! Sun? Hell no, not for me!

Ahem.

Now that that's out of my system I present to thee, lovely people, your questions in the key of C.

1. What do Stephen Ambrose and Amber have in common?

2. Why was water illegal in 1770?

3. How could Eddie Izzard's line "I am a canal!" be true?

4. When is a linguist like an ape?

5. How does having a drink help one's diction?

And don't forget your buzzer-sounds. They were horribly absent last week. Shame on you all! *pours shame on you all*.

Minor ETA: I'm being a bad mod and running off to the cinema now. I trust you can all entertain each other? (no touching allowed.... well, maybe just a little...)

Scores!
Tally-ho!

I come bearing exciting news. Oh yes, Ye Olde Scores for A are here*.

This is where I name a few people for no particular reason. Consider it your 5 minutes of fame.

Congratulations and various offerings of jam and fairycakes go to [info]ems for being a general smarty-pants!

Contrary to what we said in the rules, I (Kate) did the scores this week. This was probably a mistake. I had to break out the calculator at one point (I blame [info]oliveoyl for this. You crafty scorer!).

Oh yes, and please don't try to ask me about your score - I aint going back through that pile to find out where it came from! If you're not in the list that doesn't necessarily mean you've not scored, it just means you haven't yet got enough (or too little) to make the list.... but we have a table of everyone's score so far. Never fear, we haven't forgotten you (probably).

Ps. [info]ewanmesong, I haven't been published yet - nooooo! Bloody beaurocracy. Hmph.

*yes, I realise that "ye" is not historically accurate, but I'm trying to establish a tone here

Only just realised that we haven't posted any clues this week. Sorry about that. Well, will post answers tomorrow, people pretty much got them all this week, it is jus number three that is causing some havoc it seems

You are all thinking along the lines of what we usually do which is etymology, but not this time! It is more a play on words. I have already told someone they are almost there, but they have only got a third of the question. So have a look through what people have put already and see if you can decipher it :P

As for that, I think pretty much every other one has been solved, well done everyone, hope you are having fun!! New questions scheduled for tomorrow ;D

*Runs in late madly waving crumpled bits of paper behind her*

Helloooo!!

I come bearing the rest of the answers from A.02! Sorry about that people... But Huzzah! I have finished the first draft of my paper. I have slightly shaky hands actually... anyone want to know about Anglo-Saxon monasteries? No? Well, your loss!

1. How big is an acre?

3. Why are all men breadwinners?

5. Why would Father Christmas find this map useful?
Ho ho ho )

The End. Sorry for the delay.... Scoreboard will appear soon!

I am dreadfully sorry, I had to make up all 5 questions on the spot as we have been disorganised this week and not thought them up already. I hope these are a bit easier than last week, one or two I think are very easy and another couple are pretty easy. These are of course based loosely around the letter B, as is typical with the show. We will hopefully get the scores up from round A around midweek along with your clues :D

Sorry again about the mix up last week!! Bear with us though, we will get into a swing sooner or later, probably later knowing Kate and I XD

So here we go!! Oooh the excitement eh!?

1. Which man wouldn’t Noah let on the ark and why?

2. Which Russian dessert was Krishna’s favourite?

3. If you put together a classical palace with sticks, what do you get?

4. Which Noble rot is named after his favourite tipple?

5. What does bottom taste of?
(*looks innocent*)

I would say, try to keep your answers clean...but what the hell, why bother? XD Go mad!!

I came to post the new questions and what did I find! The old ones haven't been answered yet!! Golly gosh, we are in a mess this week! I don't have any exams this week though SO fingers crossed we won't be running around like headless chickens as much. Also I have almost gotten over my tonsilitis, so no fear, I can look after this place again!

Now, you will have to bear with me as katemond is currently very busy and writing 2 papers or something, so I am left at the helm. I am hopeless however, so this may get messy. Firstly, only katemond knows the answers to 1 & 3 so I will have to leave the proper explaination to her to update later on. Right now I just want to get this week's questions up at a not too late time. I think we will be looking at about 7:30-8:00 at the best this time, sorry!! It is rather hard to keep up with *nod nod*

Ainsi, je vous present -

1. How big is an acre?

2. How heavy is Alan?

3. Why are all men breadwinners?

4. What colour are a nun's nipples?

5. Why would Father Christmas find this map useful

Kate knows this one fully too and it is something to do with where they grow christmas trees. Which I guess Santa wouldn't ACTUALLY find helpful as he doesn't really want trees, but there you go.

Those questions were a wee bit rushed so there have been some mishaps, but this week!! It will probably happen again :P

Ok, will try to post questions asap, but I currently have to go and buy baked beans for my mum O_o she just told me I had to sooo...lol! It won't be long, I promise :)

Good Morrow,

My word, we seem to have been overly-zealous in our quest for fiendish questions. This week's been harder than *insert innuendo here*.

So, your top-up clues on the as-yet unanswered questions are (hopefully less cryptic than last week's!):

1. How big is an acre?
Clue: Looking back, I think the answer's different.

2. How heavy is Alan?
Clue: No really, how heavy is Al?

3. What colour are a nun's nipples? (Still the best question ever!)
Clue: It's a different colour to a doctor's nipples. Or Jesus'.

Ps. Apologies for our absence this week. As [info]rastnim said in the last post, we're both pretty busy. I have a conference paper that I'm being horribly unmotivated about, and Rastnim's got lurgy and exams. Poor sausage.

Anyhoo, on with the show... GOOD LUCK!
