  | This is a Queer as Folk challenge community with a Brian/Justin focus.
Fiction written for the challenges needs to meet the theme of the individual challenge, as well as these general rules.
1. You must be 18 years old to enter a challenge.
2. Unless otherwise specified by the challenge, all seasons as well as future fic and AU/AR are welcome, however, AU/AR does not mean "OOC."
3. All word counts are welcome.
4. Creative "interpretations" are welcomed, i.e. graphics-based fics.
5. Betas must be used. There is a list of people who have volunteered to beta for authors here. If English is not your native language, please use a beta for whom it is. Fics will not be rejected for a typo or two, but if they have obviously not been proofread, we'll have to send them back.
6. This community does not allow the following:
* No Brian/Michael. The main pairing is Brian/Justin, but other canonical pairings and characters can also be used.
* No MPREG.
* No RPS.
* No Poetry.
* No post-513 or AU/AR Brian/Justin breakup fic unless they are reunited by the end of the story. You may submit works that end with them apart only if it is one of the canonical breakups (S2/3, the short period during the cancer arc, 507-510), but for all other stories, while they can be apart during the story, they must be together at the end. This includes pre-series stories.
* No OOC fics. Stories must reflect the characters of Brian Kinney and Justin Taylor, as well as other characters from the series.
7. Headers, warnings, and coding:
* All submissions must use the community header information, no more and no less.
* Unfinished fics MUST be labelled as WIPs (works in progress) or TBC (to be continued) at the top of the story.
* Please include all necessary warnings. You MUST warn for major and minor character death, Brian/other and Justin/other, violence, etc.
* All fics must be coded. This includes bold text on the header, lj cut, lj usernames correctly coded, all italics that are required, centered text etc. Please have your beta or a friend help you if you aren't sure how to do that, as we can't do it for you. Post it privately in your journal before submission to make sure it looks how you want it to, and to make sure it fits into a single post. If your fic needs to be split into two posts, please send them to me as separate documents with all the header information on both.
* Because of problems with opening certain documents please be sure you save your fic as a WORD (.doc) or NOTEPAD (.txt) document only.
8. Fics are not to be cross-posted until after the authors are revealed.
9. Submissions will be due at 10 PM Pacific Time in the United States on the closing date of the challenge. There will be a ten minute grace period. Each submission will be responded to, so if you don't hear back, it means your story was not received. If that happens, please comment to the challenge community and let us know as soon as possible. Late submissions will not be accepted.
10. Individual challenges may have special criteria that conflict with these rules. If that is the case, the rules that will apply will be spelled out clearly in the challenge description. Otherwise, these rules will apply to all challenges.
