Thought you may be interested (for future info?) to see a couple of shots of me recording the new track 'Supermarket Flowers' last night at my good friends house...

 
 
The Jenny sounded nice but is very obvious that it needs work doing to it to sort out the very poor intonation. Strings in tune perfectly, then chords well outta tune! Embarrasingly so. The Vintage Electro Concert was so bad we had to give up with it. But listening back to the first takes with the Jenny I'm not sure it was much better. Aquila strings as well...

Anyone know a good luther in the West Mids, UK?!!?
No? Me neither...

How old are the strings? I notice Aquilas get little nicks in them very easily and these throw off the intonation after a while.
Also, if you don't already, try tuning it so that fretted notes are in tune instead of open strings. I have a uke with bad intonation (hmmm a bushman too) and this helps make the chords sound better.

yeah, that's good advice, I will change the strings over the weekend.

As for tuning to the chord, well I tried that but of course, by definition, as soon as you play more open chords - C, Am then it's back to the start again! Sounding bad!

I don't tune to a chord I tune all the strings to the 2nd or 3rd fret or a mix depending on what chords I'll be using. This tends to balance out the off notes so that all the chords sound equally bad. lol.

listening back to the youtube v the studio, i was a bit sick as the youtube was better played and more in tune! must have been more relaxed at the time!

I feel a re-record coming on...*sigh again*
