I must be feeling a bit better. I had the energy to be annoyed enough with BT to phone them. Stupid BT. Grr.

In other news, a cancelled meeting I was meant to go to tomorrow in Manchester (f00king miles from me) and was cancelled because I said I couldn't go (personal commitments) has been un-cancelled. My managing director emailed me saying the meeting was back on and that it was a shame I couldn't go coz I was a "valuable member of the team."

Attempted guilt trip much? The way it was worded was totally meant to make me cave and somehow go anyway.

I have news for you lady. I don't feel guilty. Not even in the slightest. I fact, I'm ECSTATIC! Because it means not only do I not have to go to Manchester, I don't have to be in this bloody boring all day long meeting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had an amazing weekend, after my moany Saturday morning. The evening with Phil's friends was really fun. They'd done proper food, not just nibbles, so I got a decent dinner and I even managed to win a few hands of poker. Quite impressive given I've never played before lol

Then the sun stayed out long enough for Phil's Dad's BBQ on Sunday. I helped his Mum and Nan in the kitchen before everyone arrived, mingled and chatted with his extended family (who are all lovely) and then helped de-gazebo and tidy up when everyone else had gone.

All in all a really nice weekend :D

Work is nearly done, tomorrow I'm out of the office most of the day for a supplier trip (wangled my way on to tomorrows trip instead of the September one ;D) and then I'm off Wednesday to spend the day with Phil! This week is starting veeeeerry well :D :D :D

It's been way too long since I did an icon post for these two, and the caps have just been piling up. So, Los Hombres de Paco icons, focusing on - naturally - Pepa and Silvia! Friendly, funny, kind to animals and old people...). You know you want to. ;-)

Barb just wrote to let me know that they sent World on Fire to the printers today, and that is always what happens two weeks before it becomes available to buy. And since new books generally come out on Tuesday, I'm guessing July 28. If it's earlier or later than that, I'll let you know.

It seems like I just went through this. But I am not complaining a bit. ;-D

I took two days off work last week, went in yesterday mostly out of boredom even though I still felt like poopie shit.

Have loads on this weekend, including a birthday get together at one of Phil's friends houses which I've never been to before, and a birthday BBQ for his Dad tomorrow where I get to meet family I've not met before.

And I still feel like poopie shit.

Oh good.

Only one drabble today, because I had to do actual work. Well, revisions and such. And I was just blah all day for some reason. I couldn't even get excited to write porn drabbles! Horror! Thankfully Friday's debacle didn't ruin the rest of the weekend. Friday night Phil was, understandable, in a bit of a mood, but I let it go because I know I would have been the same if the situation was reversed. I'd started to say something when I got there, but he just looked so upset that this was ruining our weekend that I didn't have the heart.

We left for the cottage at around 11.30am on Saturday, after Phil had called the insurance company and his friend Scott had arrived to help his brother change the wheels on Phil's smashed up car and remove all of his stuff. It only took 90 minutes to get there so we still had loads of time :D We went for a walk, drove to the little town to get sandwiches and supplies and enjoyed our surroundings.

That evening we went out for dinner. Quite by accident I'd seen a place from the road when I was driving, and it turned out to be really, really nice. They even forgot to charge us for two of the drinks, which, as it was quite an expensive place, was rather fortuitous lol

We got back, cracked open a bottle of champagne I'd been given for Christmas, toasted our first year together and watched a film cuddled up on the sofa before sharing a bath and falling into bed at about 1am.

Yesterday, after a nice long lay in, we went to play tennis which totally knackered us out lol I managed to hit the same van four times ;) I also managed to get a ball into the chicken pen, which was oddly located right next to the tennis court. I did rescue the ball later, much to the bemusement of the chickens. Not that these were the most normal of chickens. They were jumping to reach leaves on this little shrub thing. Have you ever seen a chicken jump? It's HILAROUS xD

We went for a long walk around one of the big lakes in the afternoon and found a nice spot to lay in the sun. It was so secluded it felt like we were the only two people for miles around.

We were both sad when it was time to leave. If his half brother doesn't mind, we definitely want to go for longer next year :D I get to meet his half brother this weekend at Phil's Dad's birthday BBQ so that will be nice.

When we got back to Phil's house I cooked us some dinner because Phil was still charging around trying to sort out insurance and hire cars. Then we ate dinner and watched Top Gear with his brother before I had to come home and unpack and do boring things like make lunch for work.

Phil's hoping he gets his hire car tomorrow so he can come to mine on Wednesday night so we can have the meal we were supposed to have on Friday. If not I will go to his again, but it would be nice to think we could have our Friday, even if it is a little late ;)

Something Awful has issued an apology to Sarah Palin, and it is the best thing about Sarah Palin I have ever read.

It didn't help matters that McCain was a ghost-faced, lizard-tongued monster committed to grade school level political theories (don't give up until we win!) trying to best a brown angel talking about destiny and casually reading Fareed Zakaria. Obama even looked suave exiting vehicles and not at all like Dracula popping out of his casket at the funhouse.

Those of you going to Alaska this month, I wish you well. You may see Wasilla or one of its sister cities, but my favorite place was Juneau. Juneau in the spring.

I will be here, working endlessly and attempting to watch full episodes of Hombres without subtitles. Because I have a problem. (And, okay, the first 20 seconds? Has Spanish, French, and English. NOT HELPING.)

OK.

Make the best of this situation. It's not the end of the world. The irritation you feel is temporary and should not ruin your weekend.

Picture the scene. You've had a good day off; done some private website work, been to the supermarket, done laundry and half packed for your weekend away. It's 5.40pm and the boyfriend phones to say he's leaving work and will be a little late because he has to stop off at home and pack his bag because he woke up too late to do it this morning.

At this point I would interject with the fact that, personally, I would have packed last night, but c'est la vie.

So all is well in your little world until 20 minutes later you get a phone call saying he's standing by the side of the road because someone's crashed into his car. He's stroppy, understandably, but he's taking it out on you because you're on the other end of the phone. He suggests you go to his house and when you say that this would be silly because he could be ages waiting for the recovery van he is even stroppier.

He says phone him in an hour and hangs up.

You text after 10 mins and say you'll come to his when the recovery van gets to him and to let you know when it gets there.

Nothing for half an hour.

You text again, saying did he just want me to pack up properly and come over to his for the night, as you've only half packed as some items would have been needed in the morning.

No reply.

Eventually you give in and ring him. The recovery guy is there, looking at the car. It'll be a while before he gets home so he says best that I do come over to his, but not to rush (as if I could rush over when I need to pack, which includes un-making the bed you'd made freshly earlier with nice clean sheets because you need sheets for the cottage. No one should un-make, re-make and unmake the same bed all in one day).

To top it off he adds "Don't drive too close to the car in front ha ha ha" to which you reply "I'm not the one who just had an accident" and pretty much hang up.

Men.

So I've packed my stuff. I'm letting my phone charge fully before I leave so I've got another half an hour or so to calm down. I'm not gonna bloody rush. I've hardly eaten anything today but I've gone off the idea of food so it's not really bothering me at present. God knows when I'll get any dinner.

I'm not gonna get upset (she says getting upset) because it's my fucking anniversary and I refuse.

I'm updating from work, mostly because Lou is out for the afternoon and I can get away with it ;)

Phil is back!!!!!!! He came over last night :D We hadn't seen each other for a week and I'm pretty sure we were doing things on the sofa that should not be done in front of the film Ice Age 2 ;)

In two days time it is our one year anniversary :D The first ever one year anniversary either of us has ever had. Neither of us had previously made it past a month so this is pretty special. He's coming over again tomorrow night and we're going to go and stay in his half brother's cottage in the Cotswolds for the weekend. There's no real plan, just to go an be together in a cottage lol Hopefully the weather will be nice and we can go for walks in the hills. I think there's a little boat we could take out on to the river as well, plus a pool we could use and some tennis courts.

We won't mention how work is, because it will depress me. I'm off tomorrow and I'm sooooo happy about it.
