 | 01:06 pm - FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WANT TO MOVE TO THE DOLLAR CURRY HOUSE
. . . and I used to LIVE on Allston Way across the street from this place. I still can't believe it. I'm going here this weekend or the next. Dollar Curry House2136 Oxford St. at Allston Way Berkeley CA 94704 (510) 849-0149 As members of the family that owns Khana Peena on Solano Avenue, Vikas and Deepak Aggarwal wanted to upgrade the dollar-restaurant look and feel. Dollar Curry House is a split-level, Bollywood-soundtrack-pulsing, beer-on-tap, high-energy paisley vision in jade-green, aquamarine, and scarlet velveteen. Four types of appetizer, two soups, three salads, three breads, ten vegetarian entrées, three desserts, and drinks including beer on tap are $1 each. Twelve chicken and lamb entrees are $1.99. Because of the prices and because it’s right across the street from UC Berkeley’s West Gate, this place can be dauntingly loud. But these rock-bottom prices make up for just about anything. | Hours: 11:00 a.m.-9:30 p.m. daily | | Price: $ | | Serving: Lunch, Dinner, Snack Food | | Reservations: Accepted | | Parking: Street | | Dress: casual | | Features: Takeout, Wheelchair Accessible, Vegetarian Friendly | | Entertainment: none | | Cuisine(s): Indian and/or Pakistani |

Comments:
I'm getting on the next plane to the bay area.
I should be there in an hour.
Come visit me. I'm no longer on Allston. But I'm about 5-6 blocks down the road!!! Oh. did I mention it is one door down from Ben and Jerry's and Ben and Jerry's is next to Starbucks and Quizno's as well as about 50 restaurants are on the neighboring 3-4 streets? Including CHEAP Chinese.
Movin' in, get my room ready.
PARTY!! Bring booze. We know where to get munchies.
PFFFFFT who needs a room. I'll sleep on the roof damnit.
Oh my god. How can you stand that?
I guess I'm lucky that I never got into the habit of buying food. That sounds awful. I only go grocery shopping with my bf, and pay for my own stuff, and we eat out only on the weekends, during which he pays for me. I usually just get a salad because I'm still ashamed of eating in front of people for the most part unless I'm binging or drunk.
I've just been anorexic longer than I've been bulimic and never really went to restaurants to buy binge food, so I probably never will, and there is no temptation to do so.

Damn, my passport isn't current and I am about 3 long days drive away...do you have to make a reservation?!
Thanks! I am near Walnut Creek, so I will be checking this place out/ eating them out of business. :)
Wow...I never comment anymore, but I had to when I saw your post. I am a grad student at Berkeley and I work like 2 minutes away from Dollar Curry and live on Allston Way. That is probably way too much info for the internet, but I just got kinda excited. I heart Indian food :) |
