Knit on a 24" circular, US #10/6mm . Made from hot pink mohair in stash, looks more red in the photos but it's a mid-dark hot pink.
Pattern is here (and yes it's also on Ravelry):

In a nutshell, my biology teacher is having a baby boy soon and as a gift, I wanted to knit the baby a DNA model toy.
The pattern calls for DPN's but I'm pretty unfamiliar with them for now, so I was wondering if it would be possible to knit with circular needles instead.
I'm still pretty new to knitting, but I've seen some patterns that allow for the use of either type of needles. I looked around for an answer but wasn't able to get a clear yes or no.
As a side note, I also wanted to knit a Binary Scarf. but this also calls for DPNS, but because it is a scarf, could you not just use flat needles?
Just wondering.
...and yes, yes I am a dork.

Scallop Lace Pattern
(Worked over a multiple of 9 sts + 2):
Row 1 [RS]: K1, [k1, yo, k2, SKP, k2tog, k2, yo] to last st, k1.
Even-Numbered Rows 2-6 [WS]: P all sts.
Row 3 [RS]: K1, [yo, k2, SKP, k2tog, k2, yo, k1] to last st, k1.
Row 5 [RS]: K1, p to last st, k1.
Repeat Rows 1-6 for pattern.
Shaping Note:
Within the lace pattern, each [yo] is paired with a decrease. When increasing or decreasing at edge of work (ie. when shaping waist, sleeves, etc.), be sure to keep lace pattern correct. Do not work a [yo] if there are not enough sts to work its accompanying decrease.
I kind of get what the shaping note means, but I'm not totally sure about how best to execute it. Any tips?
Thanks!
I received a bunch of emails earlier this morning replying to an email which I did not get, which seemed to imply that I (and a bunch of other people) have been refused access to the site, due to personal problems of the woman organising it. Again, I've had nothing from the site.
I tried to email the paypal address, and got a bounce.
I guess I'm not doing sock wars.
Anyone else have more idea what's going on?

Edit: Damn, it's not on e-bay.
For those of you who want an English translation of the shawl for yourself:
I emailed Elina (the designer) for permission to ask for a translation and also to see if she had any plans to offer a translation on her website. She alerted me that does have a friend working on the translation, which she plans to make available on her website as a pdf during the next week. She sent me the "raw translation" to edit through for her, but asked me not to send it on to anyone else since it is a raw translation. So keep an eye on her site and on Ravelry for the English version!!
anyway, here are pics of the hats i've been making. yarn is doubled and knitted on 10.5 needles. i knitted 20 of them in two months!

I'm knitting a skirt, in the round, on size 2 (American) needles, out of a 4-ply worsted (Caron Simply soft) at 6 stitches per inch. To start off with I'm going to have 360 stitches. I've got a set of size 2, 29 inch circular needles. Will I need a longer set of needles or is that enough? I've never worked on a project with that many stitches before, so I don't know if the needles I already have are big enough.
Thanks a bunch!
This yarn was actually part of a Louet sock dye kit. I used their dye in the kit to dye the yarn, but didn't actually care for the sock pattern that was in the kit . . . partially because it was written for feet that are smaller than my feet. Definitely not a size 7, oh well. I love this yarn and the colors much better knitted up. I will admit, I didn't really care for the colors when I had dyed the yarn, but I really do love it all knitted up.
( Onto the socks! )
Does anyone have the link to make the little icons that have the outline of the eventual FO and the percentage that it's completed? Did I describe that clearly at all? Bah.
Lots of love to all!

i've been watching this community for a while and i love reading the posts!
as most of you are aware this sunday is mother's day and i got the idea that i would like to knit my mother a small bunch of flowers. i'm low on cash and she always loves handmade gifts from me...i also thought it would be a good way to use up some different yarns i have laying around.
does anyone have any suggestions for some free patterns on-line for flowers? i did a quick look and i mostly found flat flowers meant as decorations for hats and the like. i would like to make flowers with a stem...maybe something i could put in a little vase for her.
thanks in advance for any help!

However, the pattern is only available in Finnish. I do very well at reading charts, but am concerned that I might misunderstand the chart key or miss some important instruction because I'm not able to read the pattern in the written language.
I am from Germany, but am living in the United States. Is there anyone who can help me translate this pattern (or at least the key points) into either German or English?
Thank you!!
I'm looking for something that would have me knitting small squares of different colors or whatever and then stitching them together at the end...if I took on something bigger than that I'd lose interest...
So cookies in advance for anyone that has any patterns for me! :)
I'd also love if whatever sites I'm given had a pic of the finished project, but it's not essential...
I'm in need of some knitting related Photoshop skills. I'm making a Star Trek: Enterprise themed knitting bag and I would LOVE to have a picture of Trip Tucker knitting. I know it can be done, I've seen Spock knitting. Me, I have ZILCH in the photoshop skills department. Can anyone help? I send cookies. And more details if needed. THANKS!!!
if so, what was the result
What is that technique called, and where can I find a tutorial?
Or am I just crazy prego and not listening?
btw, for anybody interested in seeing the work so far, it's on my ravelry page.
