Long ago I downloaded this BOINC screensaver, which is associated with Rosetta@Home, a project that uses the power of tons of computers to analyze proteins that could result in cures for major diseases like Alzheimer's, HIV, cancer, diabetes, etc. The work is done on your computer when your screensaver is running. You get credit for how much work your computer has done, too.
There are leaderboards that show whose team has earned the most credits, and I made a team for M.I.A. a long time ago, but I never did much with it. Well, I decided to make a video for Team M.I.A. (a recruitment video, if you will).

The music is not a remix ... it's just a collection of clips from almost all of M.I.A.'s songs (I need to make a second video to include the songs that got left out due to the 10-minute time restraint). With her politically edgy lyrics, British-born, Sri Lankan-raised M.I.A. has gone from underground artist to commercial success. The songwriter, producer, rapper and graphic designer's debut CD, "Arular," was released to critical acclaim, and Rolling Stone named her sophomore effort, "Kala," best album of '07. Her "Paper Planes" single, featured on the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack, is nominated for a Grammy, and she received a best song Oscar nod for 'O Saya." She also has her own fashion line and a music label, N.E.E.T.

According to ONTD, M.I.A. will be on Tavis Smiley this Friday 30.01.2009.
His show airs on PBS, but I think it depends on your local PBS station whether they show it or not and what time the show airs.
She'll probably be talking about her work on Slumdog Millionaire.

Thank you for your interest in supporting MIA’s efforts to build a school in Liberia. We are proud to announce that the school is up to roof level and is moving along well.
MIA has generously donated the funds to build the school and her partners at Youth Action International have provided hundreds of books for the new library.
We now need your help to purchase the chairs, tables and shelves needed to complete the school and make it ready for the 600 students who will enroll.
