It's just what it says - Photoshop brushes converted to and available for download in .gbr format (GIMP brush format). There's a lack of good GIMP brushes, and it can be very time consuming to convert them, if you can even figure out how to do it in the first place. So if we have to go to all the trouble to convert PS brushes for personal use in GIMP, we might as well make them available to anyone else that might want to use them.

Only brushes that we have been given permission to convert and post by the creator will be posted here. If you are the creator of PS brushes of any kind and you would like your brushes to be converted and posted here, please let us know.
How do things work?
This community was created by ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) gimpbrushmod, who currently is on hiatus. The current mods are lied_ohne_worte and sapphire_knight.
If anybody else is interested in helping out, contact us mods at lied_ohne_worte[at]livejournal.com or sapphire_knight[at]livejournal.com, and we'll love you forever. We don't expect anybody to get any specific amount of work done - but if you happen to convert something for yourself that we've gotten permission to post, it's one less thing to do.
We also take requests; if there's something you really want to use that you've found somewhere else, we will convert and post it here as long as we can get permission from the creator first.

We probably won't be able to reply to all your comments, but we do appreciate them, if only so we know that all this hard work isn't going to waste, but you should know that we really do enjoy being able to make these available to everyone.
IMPORTANT: This community is for converted brushes only. Brushes that were originally created for GIMP can be posted / found HERE and elsewhere on the web.
ALSO IMPORTANT: Please credit the creator of the original brushes, as well as this community. We ask that you credit the community because we want other GIMP users to become aware of this place.
