Where Beloved Notebooks Swap Scar Stories
Name:Where beloved notebooks swap scar stories
Theme:Unrestricted writing for the masses
Location:New York, United States
About:Welcome! We're not your regular writing LJ community. I've been around this site looking for somewhere to get people to review my work and help me out with it, but as I'm sure some of you have noticed, you often get ignored on communities with many members, and snubbed by elitists in smaller ones. Well, no more!

Here, we welcome writers from all areas, ages, and genres. Sci-fi, horror, fantasy, drama, romance; fanfiction, fiction, non-fiction, poetry... It doesn't matter! We want you to have a place to proudly display what you've written!

Got writer's block? No problem! We'll try to talk you through it and share what helps us get out of that dreaded pit of stasis. Share with others the process you go through when you write, whether you watch a movie or listen to certain tunes to get in the mood. Remember, we're here to help each other out, and we've got to stick together.

And now, for the sparse rules, as we want you to be as creatively unfettered as possible.

Rules

1.)On Swearing: We all know that people say naughty words in real life. It's part of the human condition to explode with expletives when something goes wrong. If your best friend got shot, would you say "Gosh darn it all, you jerk-faces!" to the bad guys? ... Thought not. That said, swearing is okay in your stories. Try to keep cursing in your primary post in any other discussion to a minimum, or sneak it behind an LJ cut with a warning that you're gonna "drop the F-bomb" or something to that effect. This is so people who are at work won't get busted and so kids whose parents don't like it will know where they shouldn't go.

2.)On Critique: The main reason you're probably here is because you want to share your work with others and get their opinions on what you've spent so much time working on. We sympathize. What many people don't seem to understand is that for a community to work, everyone needs to contribute. Even if you don't post anything on any given day, try to drop a comment or two someone's way. If someone's kind enough to leave you a review, try to return the favor at some point. I realize that we're all busy and have lives, but if you had the time to type up ten pages of story, you can write two or three lines of criticism for someone else. It's really only fair. So, to sum up: For every story/poem post you do, please try to comment on two others.

3.)Being Critical and Objective: Sometimes people will post something in a genre that's not your cup of tea, but you should give it a shot. You never know, you might like it. And if your only reason for not liking a piece is its genre, don't bother commenting unless you've got something to say about the piece other than "I hate ranch romance stories." Remember, we want to help each other grow and evolve as writers, so open yourself up to new experiences.

4.)Rants and Other Discussions: If you want to go on about how awful the latest Stephenie Meyer novel was (even though I really loved it), that's fine. As long as your discussions are related to writing or written works, we're in business. Discuss novels with others, your fave authors, your not-so-favorites, or why you think vampire literature is entirely too profuse in the market today. Ask people's opinions to help you through writer's block, get help with titling pieces, or about anything you need help with in regards to your pieces.

5.)Posting Format:

Title of Piece:

Chapter:(if applicable)

Length: (ie: novel, short story, poem, blurb, etc. Word/Page count isn't necessary)

Fiction, Non-Fiction, or Fan-fiction?:

Genre:horror, sci-fi, fantasy, drama, romance, etc.)

Rating: G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17

Other Warnings: (if something's particularly gory or nothing but smut, the younger [or squeamish] people out there need to know before they dive in head first)
Summary: what's it about? (This isn't necessary for poetry.)

Obviously, omit anything from the above guideline that doesn't apply to your piece.

6.)LJ Cuts:Please, please, PLEASE, post anything beyond two paragraphs (poetry excepted) behind an LJ cut. We know you want everyone to see your story, but you also don't want to flood people's friend pages. Thank you.

7.)On Multiple Accounts: People with more than one account are more than welcome to post here, however, when you do you intro post, tell us the names of your other accounts.

8.)Have fun!: We're all here to have a good time, so let's not be rude and crude, mmkay? Heated discussions are no problem, but flamers and trollers will promptly be drowned.

Enjoy yourselves, and spread the banner love!
