Yes, today marks Mr. Proops' birthday. Let us all send the best of wishes to this brilliant man who has so graciously continued to entertain us with his sharp wit and snappy, snazzy humor through all these years. Thus, we raise a toast to honor Greg, to thank him humbly for continually making us laugh. We appreciate everything he has ever done. Thank you Greg, and here's to many more years to come.

Does anyone by any chance know what kind of music/bands Greg likes? I was wondering the other day. Has he ever said anything specific (or hinted twoards) regarding the kind of music and bands he listens to? I have a feeling he listens to some good music. I know he's worn a Nine Inch Nails shirt before, and his MySpace says "Glam, dub, jazz, punk, old school soul, bossa nova, ambient. Jon Brion."

But does anyone know anything a bit more... specific?

The World Shifts Slightly On Its Axis
by Diane ([info]proopstradamus)

For many years, it has been common Proops knowledge that Greg was a proud owner of an ocelot. This ocelot was named Shia. Then later, fairly recently, Greg got another ocelot, named Bristol.

Ocelots have long been a running gag in the Proops world, constantly showing face in standup and improv alike, even in articles and other various material. Often when fans think of any animal to represent Mr. Proops, 'ocelot' immediately comes to mind. After all, he has been nicknamed "The Big Ocelot" before, and has referred to his fans as his "ocelot kittens".

And yet, here we are, on March 25th, 2009, and Greg Proops confirms something that I've long suspected (but didn't want it to be true)...

There is no ocelot. There never has been. It's been a running joke, a gag.

Via the use of the interwebs, Greg has carefully led us to believe that he has actually owned an ocelot by putting it into his self-written bio that has been splashed all over the web. However, in a most recent article, Greg said this:

Oh, I say I have an ocelot and it’s a joke, but I’ve had so many news programs in this country say, “So what’s it like, having an ocelot?” And I’ll say, “It’s marvelous just to see them run free. When feeding time comes and they’re mulling, it just warms your heart.” People will really believe fucking anything. You may have noticed this. It’s not just me. Look around.

I wanted him owning an ocelot to be true - because that'd be simply awesome. Ocelots are beautiful cats that deserve our love and admiration - and he obviously still likes them qutie a lot. However, I do admit that I have always been suspicious, and even more so when 'Shia' become 'Bristol' right at the height of Sarah Palin and the incident with her daughter - Bristol - becoming pregnant, and then Greg making a joke that 'Bristol [the ocelot] was pregnant'. But, now we know the truth - no ocelots.

Am I the only one a little saddened by this news?

Unrelated Sidenote: Remind me not to try and type at 3:30 AM. I wrote 'axis' as 'access'. Oy vey.

Ok, as you all (likely) know, I've been working on totally revamping GPN. The new GPN is going to be quite different from what you see now. The new version will be very professional and information oriented, and thus look as such. Some things will have to be sacrificed for this, likely including things like the tagboard, the current way the news is presented, the side calendar on the front page, and essentially everything in the current lefthand column will either go, or be minimized. The new front page will be aimed at point-blank information, quick snippets on what is new rather than having to search for it. There will likely be small boxes with blurbs rather than the paragraph format there is now.

I'd like to hear your feelings on what I stated above. Also, please, it'd be very helpful if you all filled out this little questionnaire:

1. What do you primarily use GPN for? (I understand that you likely use it for more than one thing - hopefully - but please pick the main thing that you open it up for.)

A) News & Appearance Schedule
B) Photos
C) Videos / Audio
D) Other - Please Explain

2. If you had the perfect front page, what would be on it? How would it be organized?

3. How would you prefer the news delivered?

A) Just Like How It Is Now - In the long paragraph form, although very jumbled and hard to search for.
B) In quick blurbs with links to full artictles
C) Other - please explain

4. Which type of news is more important to you?

A) Site updates
B) Greg news

5. How do you feel about Proopalicious being reserved solely for the Livejournal community, and GPN being named just as GPN?

6. Do you have flash and javascript installed on your computer?

7. What is one thing (or more) that you'd love to see either implemented into the site, or altered? Please be detailed.

8. How often do you use the tagboard and the news comments? Would you see yourself using them more or less in the future if they remained?

9. What type of menu would you prefer?

A) Just like how it is now, with big areas, and then seperate sections within them with pages that link to them.
B) Drop-down menus.
C) One big long line with all of the pages at the top of the page
D) Other - please explain.

10. Lastly, please be honest... how often do you visit GPN? And would you plan on visiting it more often with the new design and changes?

Thank you!

Birthday Bash Post!!!
by Diane ([info]proopstradamus)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREG!!!

Yes indeed, today marks Gregory Everett Proops' 49th birthday! Proopalicious would like to wish Greg a most happy and wonderful birthday, with hopes that there will still be many, many more joyous birthdays in the future yet to come! So please, help us celebrate our favorite comedian's special day! Feel free to post birthday messages either in comments (or feel free to make your own entry!), browse around On Greg Proops Net for the latest updates, or kick back, relax, and just watch some Greg!

To kick things off, we have a rather enormous bundle of news for you this week! To start with, Greg's second Humphrey the Hamster audio book, "Friendship According To Humphrey", was officially released yesterday in the UK. This children's audio CD can be purchased online at Amazon.com - but you must be a UK citizen, due to it currently being a UK-only product.

Easy To Assemble, the web-based show that Greg appears in alongside Illeana Douglas, has already been making quite a name for itself. After the first episode being on YouTube for just five days and receiving over 300,000 hits, the show was picked up by CBS to air weekly on TV.com. Here is a quote from an article on Tubefilter News:

After just five days on YouTube, Easy to Assemble has been picked up by CBS in a deal that will have new episodes of the show running exclusively on TV.com for a week after each release, starting Monday the 29th. The IKEA-backed show created by and starring Illeana Douglas racked up over 300,000 views since its debut Monday. This will mark TV.com’s first foray into original scripted content.

You can watch Episode 1 here, and Epsidoe 2 here. Keep checking back to EasyToAssemble.TV for the latest episodes and postings!

However, something even more exciting is just around the bend! True Jackson, VP, begins airing on November 8th on the Nickelodeon channel right after iCarly! Tension is beginning to mount for this new tween-driven show and as Nick has begun to promote it, the hype is building. Greg seems to have a fairly essential role in the show, so the premiere will be highly anticipated! The very first promotional trailer for the show has been released. You can watch the trailer now by clicking here!

There has also been some more confirmations concerning other upcoming works of Greg's, straight from the horse's mouth. Greg made mention that the Largo CD is still in progress, but said little else about it. We can only hope that it'll be completed soon! He also affirmed that he will be doing all of the announcing in Nintendo's Mad World Wii Game, so he will be present in the game itself, not just in the trailer. Its release date is yet to be announced.

For all of you Whose Line Is It Anyway? fans, rumor has it that the next Whose Line DVD will be released sometime in 2009. In a recent online interview with Warner Home Video, WHV revealed that they are currently in the works of putting together the Season 2 DVD of Whose Line, and that it'd hit the shelves sometime next year. Whether it will be like series one with two split DVDs, or if it will be combined into one or a small box set, is currently unknown.

And of course, we cannot have proper news without the latest version of Greg's touring schedule. It goes as follows:

Because I am an avid web designer who is always constrantly trying to improve her skills, layout design, visual content, and site ease-of-use techniques, I have decided that some time in the near future, I will be creating Greg Proops Net Version 3.0. The new GPN will hopefully feature an easier browsable menu, larger font for improved reading, and overall, its style will likely be distinctly different. Right now it acts, and looks, very much like a fan website. I might attempt to strive away from this, and instead create a more professional prototype, as if this were an official website, and not a fansite at all. This may or may not happen, so some feedback on these ideas would be greatly appreciated. Either way, some time in the upcoming future, I believe, GPN 3.0 is coming. If there are other ideas you have, or things you'd like to see go into the site, please, let me know!

Meanwhile, I have opened a new page for the site. It's a very small page, but The History Of Greg Proops Net page is now open and available for viewing. It can be found under the 'Site' section.

---

It's only right and proper to celebrate Greg's birthday with a small slew of new media clips! GPN has now provided you with six new video clips and one new audio clip. The video clips consist of the following:

~ Interviews - WGN Interview 2008
~ Miscellaneous - Open Mic Broncos Versus Raiders
~ Miscellaneous - 2007 Grammys With Paul Wall And Weird Al Yankovic
~ Miscellaneous - True Jackson VP Trailer
~ Miscellaneous Standup - The World Stands Up Clip
~ Red Eye With Greg Gutfield - April 30th 2008 Clip

The audio clip entails:

~ Interviews - Olivia Wilder Blog Talk Radio September 28th 2008

---

I had wanted to have another big gallery done for the celebration, but alas, time constraints did not allow it. I promise to have another new, expansive gallery open soon, though! In the meantime, please enjoy our latest twenty new photographs and publicity stills that have been added to the Galleries! They consist of the following:

- Whose Line Is It Anyway? US Version - Publicity Photos (14 Pics) (NEW GALLERY!)
- Greg As Himself - Greg With Fans (2 Pics)
- Whose Live Anyway? (4 Pics)

---

It was a goal of mine to get the Buttons And Banners page done for today for Greg Proops Net, but again, it did not happen (you can blame college). It, too, shall be open very soon. I did, however, have time to make two new Wallpapers for your use. Also, please check out our latest Fanart piece, as well as an additional nineteen new Icons & Avatars as created by a host of lovely, wonderful, talented Greg fans. Your art is our love!

Once again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREG!!!

Good afternoon, fellow Greg fans!

This community isn't simply news-based. Another one of our foundations is discussion, chat, and forming friendships with one another. As a kickoff, I have created a small Greg-based questionnaire, just to get you to open up, and be able to give your opinion on a few things concerning Sir Proops. Hopefully, we will be able to share our personal ideals concerning Greg and his works, and be able to start to become more acquaintanced with one another! So please, join in! Please post your responses in the form of a comment to this post!

1. For how long have you been a Greg Proops fan?

2. Which do you prefer of Greg's work - improv, acting, or standup?

3. Aside from Whose Line Is It Anyway, what is your favorite bit of Greg's work?

4. What is your favorite Greg bit from Whose Line?

5. Which do you prefer Greg on - the British version of Whose Line, or the American version, and why?

6. What do you like Greg best in clothes-wise - a suit and tie, casual, or other? Explain.

7. What, to you, is Greg's best physical feature?

8. If you could see Greg in any future work of your choice, what would it be, and as who, or doing what?

9. What genre, other than comedy, would you like to see Greg try? (ex: Drama, thriller, etc.)

Greg Returning To The Olivia Wilder Show On BlogTalkRadio

Back on March 30th of this year, Greg appeared on an online radio talk show, via BlogTalkRadio, called Olivia Wilder Times. Though, in my opinion, his treatment on the show was rather horrendous (as he showed up 40 minutes late, and was backlashed the entire time he was gone save for a just a couple of people, myself included, who did their absolute best to defend him, and even then was still pestered about it even after he called in), Greg has, it seems, decided to return to the show! For this, I give him tremendous props.

The details for the upcoming show are as follows:

Sunday, September 28th
5 PM PST / 8 PM EST / 1 AM GMT

You will be able to listen to the show here: Olivia Wilder Times

If you haven't listened to the show before, if you register with BlogTalkRadio, you may also converse in a chatroom that is open during the progression of the show. Olivia is able to see all things posted in the chatroom, so it is a good way to try and get a question asked, or to make comments in general. You do not have to register to listen to the show, but you do need to be registered to enter the chat, and it'd be great to see you all there, supporting Greg and showing him the respect and appreciation that he deserves!

Greg's Appearances On Just A Minute

current mood: tired

Are you in the mood for something new to listen to, or need some Greg to cheer up your night? If so, you just might want to take a listen to these shows of Greg on the British radio show "Just A Minute". If you don't know what "Just A Minute" is, here is a quote from Wikipedia:

Just a Minute is a BBC Radio 4 radio comedy panel game which has been broadcast since 22 December 1967 and is hosted by Nicholas Parsons. It began in the year that Radio 4 launched, and is one of the station's longest running programmes. Just a Minute won a Gold Sony Radio Academy Award in 2003.

The object of the game is for panellists to talk "for just a minute" on a given subject, "without repetition, hesitation or deviation". The game comes from attempts to try to keep within these rules, which whilst they appear to be simple, are very hard not to break. To speak for the full minute without being challenged is extremely difficult, and meritorious when achieved.

New "Easy To Assemble" Internet Show Featuring Greg!

current mood: blah

Just announced today, a brand-new, innovative comedy show featuring Greg entitled "Easy To Assemble" is set to hit the internet on September 22nd. This web-only show is about a Hollywood actress, Illeana Douglas, who quits showbusiness to become an employee at an IKEA in Burbank, California. The series concerns her trouble returning to 'normal' life, as well as dealing with stalkers, celebrity friends, gossip columnists, and more.

For the official site of the show, and where you'll be able to view the episodes as of September 22nd, visit EasyToAssemble.TV.

For an article with more information concerning "Easy To Assemble", please click here.

"Easy To Assemble" is a sort of revamped version of a series made back in 2006 called "Illeanarama", which also featured Greg in a single episode. This very short show, sporting many of the same people as "Easy To Assemble", had the same basis as well, except it was set in a grocery store. In "Illeanarama", Greg plays Illeana's agent, Ben. Whether or not Greg will be reprising this role currently remains unknown.

If you'd like to watch Greg's appearance on "Illeanarama", here is the download link for you:

Illeanarama - Episode 2

More information on "Easy To Assemble" will be posted as it comes along! Feel free to speculate! Excited or no for this new show? Will you watch it? What role do you think Greg will play? And is anyone else loving the picture of him curled up in the bed?

okay

current mood: okay

Back on June 19th, on Greg Proops Net, I made mention that Greg revealed in a fairly recent interview that he'd recently done some voicework for Star Wars: The Clone Wars, in a villain role. However, it was never specified whether this VO work was for the film that was released today (in the US), or the new television series. However, I can now confirm that it will be for the TV series, as I attended a screening today of the new animated film, and Greg was not a participant. So, we'll keep our eyes peeled for any news concerned the television show (which begins airing October 3rd in the US). Please write in if you happen to find any information on it!

The gaming system Wii is coming out with a new MadWorld game, and in its recent promotion, Greg can be heard as the announcer / narrator of the commercial. It is currently unknown if this voice work was just for the commercial alone, or if Greg will be featured as the narrator throughout the entire game. If you'd like to watch the promo, just click this link.

Also in a recent interview, Greg murmurred something along the lines of a new CD of his being in store. However, he said that this CD would not be standup, but rather, pertaining to his chat show that he hosts monthly at Largo in Los Angeles, California. Whether or not the CD will come to be, what all it will include, and when it will be released is currently unknown and very much up in the air. However, any more info on it will be posted when it presents itself!

On Greg Proops Net, I am pleased to announce that the all-new, totally revamped Audio Clips page is now finally open! It features 124 all-new clips (along with a handful of original clips on the site), ranging from songs from Whose Line Is It Anyway?, to character work for British radio shows such as Seymour The Fractal Cat and Buy Me Up TV, to appearances on Just A Minute, radio interviews, and a host of other miscellaneous items. There are literally hours upon hours of listening material now readily available. Interested? Check out GPN's Audio Clips page!

Also, in terms of some groovy updates with the site, seven more video clips have been uploaded as well. If you'd like to check them out, they include:

~ Video Games - Pandemonium! Intro
~ Video Games - Pandemonium! Ending
~ Video Games - Mad World Wii E3 Trailer

~ Red Eye - August 1st 2008 Part 2
~ Miscellaneous Standup - Live At The Purple Onion, December 30th 2007 - Bush, Iraq, & WMD's
