Does anyone by any chance know what kind of music/bands Greg likes? I was wondering the other day. Has he ever said anything specific (or hinted twoards) regarding the kind of music and bands he listens to? I have a feeling he listens to some good music. I know he's worn a Nine Inch Nails shirt before, and his MySpace says "Glam, dub, jazz, punk, old school soul, bossa nova, ambient. Jon Brion."
But does anyone know anything a bit more... specific?
For many years, it has been common Proops knowledge that Greg was a proud owner of an ocelot. This ocelot was named Shia. Then later, fairly recently, Greg got another ocelot, named Bristol.
Ocelots have long been a running gag in the Proops world, constantly showing face in standup and improv alike, even in articles and other various material. Often when fans think of any animal to represent Mr. Proops, 'ocelot' immediately comes to mind. After all, he has been nicknamed "The Big Ocelot" before, and has referred to his fans as his "ocelot kittens".
And yet, here we are, on March 25th, 2009, and Greg Proops confirms something that I've long suspected (but didn't want it to be true)...
There is no ocelot. There never has been. It's been a running joke, a gag.
Via the use of the interwebs, Greg has carefully led us to believe that he has actually owned an ocelot by putting it into his self-written bio that has been splashed all over the web. However, in a most recent article, Greg said this:
Oh, I say I have an ocelot and it’s a joke, but I’ve had so many news programs in this country say, “So what’s it like, having an ocelot?” And I’ll say, “It’s marvelous just to see them run free. When feeding time comes and they’re mulling, it just warms your heart.” People will really believe fucking anything. You may have noticed this. It’s not just me. Look around.
I wanted him owning an ocelot to be true - because that'd be simply awesome. Ocelots are beautiful cats that deserve our love and admiration - and he obviously still likes them qutie a lot. However, I do admit that I have always been suspicious, and even more so when 'Shia' become 'Bristol' right at the height of Sarah Palin and the incident with her daughter - Bristol - becoming pregnant, and then Greg making a joke that 'Bristol [the ocelot] was pregnant'. But, now we know the truth - no ocelots.
Am I the only one a little saddened by this news?
Unrelated Sidenote: Remind me not to try and type at 3:30 AM. I wrote 'axis' as 'access'. Oy vey.
Catch Greg on the E! channel tonight on The Chelsea Lately show as he once more appears as a guest on the panel. Check your local listings for the exact airtime in your area.
Ok, as you all (likely) know, I've been working on totally revamping GPN. The new GPN is going to be quite different from what you see now. The new version will be very professional and information oriented, and thus look as such. Some things will have to be sacrificed for this, likely including things like the tagboard, the current way the news is presented, the side calendar on the front page, and essentially everything in the current lefthand column will either go, or be minimized. The new front page will be aimed at point-blank information, quick snippets on what is new rather than having to search for it. There will likely be small boxes with blurbs rather than the paragraph format there is now.
I'd like to hear your feelings on what I stated above. Also, please, it'd be very helpful if you all filled out this little questionnaire:
1. What do you primarily use GPN for? (I understand that you likely use it for more than one thing - hopefully - but please pick the main thing that you open it up for.)
A) News & Appearance Schedule
B) Photos
C) Videos / Audio
D) Other - Please Explain
2. If you had the perfect front page, what would be on it? How would it be organized?
3. How would you prefer the news delivered?
A) Just Like How It Is Now - In the long paragraph form, although very jumbled and hard to search for.
B) In quick blurbs with links to full artictles
C) Other - please explain
4. Which type of news is more important to you?
A) Site updates
B) Greg news
5. How do you feel about Proopalicious being reserved solely for the Livejournal community, and GPN being named just as GPN?
6. Do you have flash and javascript installed on your computer?
7. What is one thing (or more) that you'd love to see either implemented into the site, or altered? Please be detailed.
8. How often do you use the tagboard and the news comments? Would you see yourself using them more or less in the future if they remained?
9. What type of menu would you prefer?
A) Just like how it is now, with big areas, and then seperate sections within them with pages that link to them.
B) Drop-down menus.
C) One big long line with all of the pages at the top of the page
D) Other - please explain.
10. Lastly, please be honest... how often do you visit GPN? And would you plan on visiting it more often with the new design and changes?
Thank you!
Greg will be appearing yet again on the talk show Chelsea Lately, tonight! The channel is E! Entertainment. Check your local listings for the specific time!
To celebrate Greg Proops' birthday, I made this short video.
Happy Birthday Greg!

Heads up Proopdawg fans!!
Greg will begin participating in his second LIVE interview with Olivia Wilder in just forty minutes time! We'd love to have everyone come on out and support Greg with the admiration, love, and most importantly, respect that he deserves. Yes, it starts at 5 PM PST, 8 PM EST. There is a chatroom where fans who are listening can talk and discuss the interview as it develops, but you MUST register with BlogTalkRadio in order to enter and participate in the chat. You do NOT have to be a member to just listen to the show!
Many of you probably already know, but next week Greg's 49th birthday is on Friday, October 3rd! This is, of course, a very special day for Proops fans across the globe, as we celebrate the birthday of our favorite comedian!
Proopalicious would like to do something granduer to celebrate his birthday with a bang! So, what we'd like to please have from you, our fellow community members, is ideas and suggestions for what you'd like to either see happen or do a week from tomorrow! Please, feel free to shout stuff out! We'd like to hear what you have to say, and how you'd like to ring in another year of greatness with the Proopdog!
Also, we'd like to call upon all of you creative folk to help us celebrate this day as well! If you like to make wallpapers, icons, or banners, we'd *love* to see them posted for his birthday! Go all out! Be creative, be useful, be drastic and extreme! Post away your artistic innovations!
We will be having some competitions, discussions, and other festivities to get things rolling, starting this weekend! Until then, again, please let us know your suggestions, and help us out with some creative expressions!
The very first episode of "Easy To Assemble", titled "Training Day", is now up and available for viewing! If you didn't read our posts on it before, Easy To Assemble is a new web-based show featuring Greg. You can read all about it and see a couple of caps from it HERE.
The first episode, however, does not have Greg in it. However, please watch it anyway, so that we might support Greg's latest show, and so we can better follow the plot. It's only about six minutes long. Here are two different viewing links for you:
Good afternoon, fellow Greg fans!
This community isn't simply news-based. Another one of our foundations is discussion, chat, and forming friendships with one another. As a kickoff, I have created a small Greg-based questionnaire, just to get you to open up, and be able to give your opinion on a few things concerning Sir Proops. Hopefully, we will be able to share our personal ideals concerning Greg and his works, and be able to start to become more acquaintanced with one another! So please, join in! Back on March 30th of this year, Greg appeared on an online radio talk show, via BlogTalkRadio, called Olivia Wilder Times. Though, in my opinion, his treatment on the show was rather horrendous (as he showed up 40 minutes late, and was backlashed the entire time he was gone save for a just a couple of people, myself included, who did their absolute best to defend him, and even then was still pestered about it even after he called in), Greg has, it seems, decided to return to the show! For this, I give him tremendous props.
The details for the upcoming show are as follows:
Are you in the mood for something new to listen to, or need some Greg to cheer up your night? If so, you just might want to take a listen to these shows of Greg on the British radio show "Just A Minute". If you don't know what "Just A Minute" is, here is a quote from Wikipedia:
Just a Minute is a BBC Radio 4 radio comedy panel game which has been broadcast since 22 December 1967 and is hosted by Nicholas Parsons. It began in the year that Radio 4 launched, and is one of the station's longest running programmes. Just a Minute won a Gold Sony Radio Academy Award in 2003.
The object of the game is for panellists to talk "for just a minute" on a given subject, "without repetition, hesitation or deviation". The game comes from attempts to try to keep within these rules, which whilst they appear to be simple, are very hard not to break. To speak for the full minute without being challenged is extremely difficult, and meritorious when achieved.

Hello again, and welcome to another Proopalicious news and updates installment! I apologize for the delay from our last post - I'm back at college now and things are pretty hectic, but I'm going to try and be as timely as possible!

Back on June 19th, on Greg Proops Net, I made mention that Greg revealed in a fairly recent interview that he'd recently done some voicework for Star Wars: The Clone Wars, in a villain role. However, it was never specified whether this VO work was for the film that was released today (in the US), or the new television series. However, I can now confirm that it will be for the TV series, as I attended a screening today of the new animated film, and Greg was not a participant. So, we'll keep our eyes peeled for any news concerned the television show (which begins airing October 3rd in the US). Please write in if you happen to find any information on it!
The gaming system Wii is coming out with a new MadWorld game, and in its recent promotion, Greg can be heard as the announcer / narrator of the commercial. It is currently unknown if this voice work was just for the commercial alone, or if Greg will be featured as the narrator throughout the entire game. If you'd like to watch the promo, just click this link.
Also in a recent interview, Greg murmurred something along the lines of a new CD of his being in store. However, he said that this CD would not be standup, but rather, pertaining to his chat show that he hosts monthly at Largo in Los Angeles, California. Whether or not the CD will come to be, what all it will include, and when it will be released is currently unknown and very much up in the air. However, any more info on it will be posted when it presents itself!
On Greg Proops Net, I am pleased to announce that the all-new, totally revamped Audio Clips page is now finally open! It features 124 all-new clips (along with a handful of original clips on the site), ranging from songs from Whose Line Is It Anyway?, to character work for British radio shows such as Seymour The Fractal Cat and Buy Me Up TV, to appearances on Just A Minute, radio interviews, and a host of other miscellaneous items. There are literally hours upon hours of listening material now readily available. Interested? Check out GPN's Audio Clips page!
Also, in terms of some groovy updates with the site, seven more video clips have been uploaded as well. If you'd like to check them out, they include:
